Flooded Tunnel in China (1 Viewer)

I know this is horrible and I hate posting horrible things, but feel like this is big enough it should at least be known. As this is coming from Reddit, the truthfulness could be questionable, but I’m deciding to share anyway.

Link

The recent flooding in China reportedly flooded a 4km long tunnel that was FILLED with cars. There could be thousands dead. The video seen in the link is just the road leading into the tunnel. The tunnel reportedly filled with water in just 5 minutes. Just absolutely horrific. I can’t imagine being stuck inside the tunnel as it began to fill with water and know that there is absolutely no way out for you.

As a big user of Reddit recently I can tell you it's been full of videos of this. Pretty horrific and not a lot you can do if you're sitting in the middle of the thing.

This would be in my top 5 of most horrific ways of dying.

top 5 in random order: buried alive, burned to death, eaten by something, drowning, human centipede

The videos of people being pulled up a waterfall to safety or being swept down the middle of a raging river are awful.

Then you find out that it's not a waterfall, but a stairwell out of the metro and that it's not rivers, but just streets in the middle of downtown, and it's even worse.

Any links other than reddit? Any MSM?
I haven’t found anything but also don’t really expect any. China isn’t exactly going to allow reporters to report something like that. There’s a link to a news report from a Chinese media source in the Reddit link, but it’s obvious lies creating a fake “hero” who managed to knock in windows and get everyone out of their cars except for a few people who wouldn’t listen.

Here’s the link to the Chinese government news source.

Horror of Zhengzhou subway and tunnel floods | Is Henan Flood a natural disaster or a man-made one?

On July 20, many places in northern Henan Province were devastated by a huge rainstorm. The Zhengzhou city was completely flooded and paralyzed. Videos on social networking sites showed many residents swept away by the water and a large number of vehicles floating on the surface; three subways in Zhengzhou city were also submerged by tumbling floodwaters, with the deepest depth exceeding 2 meters. Zhengzhou Jingguang Road Tunnel, a 4 km long tunnel with two-way six lanes, was filled with flood water in five minutes during the rush hour on July 20! Hundreds of cars were trapped in the tunnel and the real casualties are a mystery.

The Mark I eyeball test versus the released casualty count doesn't add up.

Maybe I'm being naive, but if hundreds or thousands of people died in a tunnel I think we'd know about it by now instead of relying on speculation and inference.

It is China. Do you really believe their reported COVID numbers? Wuhan got hit as fast and is almost as big as NYC. There are almost as many deaths in NY as there are reported cases in China. Are you old enough to remember the Tiananmen Square massacres and resulting executions? If not, just imagine that the biggest BLM protests were put down by US troops shooting protestors and then the government rounding up and executing protesters after quelling the protests. You are being extremely naive. It’s still sad that pretty much nothing has come from that.

Are you old enough to remember that we knew about Tianamen immediately after it happened?  Like the next day?  Before there was an Internet.

Do you remember the videos of COVID body bags from China a year ago February?

Even in China it's hard to stop news of massive events getting out.  Not saying it's impossible (and I don't think it's anywhere near impossible), but if hundreds or thousands of people died in that tunnel it would be hard to hide all news of it.

I sure do, I remember vividly the tank and the student. It’s 32 years later and there still isn’t a definitive body count. So what we saw body bags. One of the videos in this thread showed body bags being floated out. My point is that you act like we would know if their are hundreds or thousands dead but no one believes China’s COVID counts now that we’ve seen the destruction in other countries and we still do not know today how many people actually died in Tiananmen Square. I still think you are being very naive in how much control the Chinese government has in stopping information flow out. They can’t stop every little piece but they sure aren’t keeping body counts accurate like we do for every natural disaster or building collapse.

re: Censorship. def click the link that @GordonGekko posted. It appears to be an independent news source about China and its amazing how many times they openly mention "Government Censorship" and "Video was removed from gov't owned social media" in there. What really blows my mind is that I knew there were very bad rain levels there, but it seems this instance as well as similar subway disasters was b/c the gov't released a levy upstream that caused these flash floods and did not allow the transportation dept heads to warn anyone—but of course that is all censored information anyway.

scary stuff.

The censorship and "Could have done __________, but didn't because they did not want to take responsibility"  really stuck out.  The clip said they were making escaping cars stop and pay tolls as they were coming out of the tunnel.

It's a little harder getting video when an entire city is flooding and most people are trying to escape the scene.
