Florida boy killed by Neighborhood Watch (8 Viewers)

The prosecution's response to the "motion for sanctions against Florida prosecutors for withholding information favorable to the defense" is laughable at best, I can't believe a lawyer actually wrote this garbage. It reads like something I would find in the FFA drunk thread.
Damn some of the statements in this are brutal, but rather funny.

"Presumably, he is seeking compensation now for time he spent following bad legal strategy and advice from anonymous internet trolls."

"Counsel for Defense apparently feels that the State Attorney's Office should keep him from publicly humiliating himself and his client. Rule 3.220 does not appear to contain such a requirement."

This stuff is gold.

Seriously? Would that be your advice to him?
if they show him on a video saying something i would think saying i dont recall would seem kind of silly
It seemed to me that there were things he didn't fully remember during the video.. Do you remember every detail of every situation? Most fights I've been in, I remember the beginning and the end, and only a few details in between..

But the video won't be in court, so whats the difference? Look silly to who?
You're correct in that there were several points of Z's walkthrough where he indicated he wasn't sure exactly what happened.
well he failed to mention that he told the dispatch that he would prefer the cops to call him when they arrive and he would tell them where he is...instead ,in the video , he says he was walking back to his truck top meet the cops ,then he was attacked. My point is thats before the fight and should have remembered that,im sure the prosecutor will.It may not sound like much but it will add up when they start adding up other discrepancies in his several interviews. This case hinges on whether he was following treyvon around with intent or just happened to run into him as he was going to his truck or not....IMO. Then it will be about trying to figure out who initiated the confrontation.
Hopefully for the prosecution they'll have more to go on that this. Z could argue that what he meant was that he was going to call the police when he got back to his truck and then meet the cops. He could have assumed they were already in the complex and effectively wouldn't be much difference in time/distance to meet them. It could also be argued that he just misunderstood. This isn't anything of substance IMO and the prosecution would need many more events such as this to put any serious doubt in a jury's mind about Z's veracity.

Yep, is it common to quote passages from Macbeth in legal responses?

I used Much Ado About Nothing to respond to a motion to compel discovery.

This is awesome...

Lawyer Mark O’Mara said during a hearing last Tuesday that the defense had obtained video footage of three fights, including one in which he said two of Martin’s friends “were beating up a homeless guy.

[snip]

According to NBC News:

Attorneys for George Zimmerman apologized Sunday for mischaracterizing evidence they said boosted their theory that Trayvon Martin was the aggressor in his fatal meeting with their client last year.

[snip]

In a statement posted on Zimmerman’s website, the defense lawyers said the footage actually showed ”two homeless guys fighting each other over a bike.

You guys are so desperate you are celebrating evidence that wouldn't have even been used in trial even if it was his friends beating up a homeless guy. I'll wait for you guys to clear the other two videos, one of which is Martin refereeing a fight along with the text messages sent by Martin where he described how in one fight he got pummeled in the first round because his opponent got him on the ground. Sound familiar?

Sounds like pretty much every fight that goes to the ground in the history of fighting.

Can't believe Trayvon lived through that!

He certainly learned the value in taking someone to the ground! Unlike his fight club fights though there was no referee to pull him off of Zimmerman.

If he had purchased the .40 caliber and had it on him, had there not been a referee and if he was getting his head pounded into the pavement I'd say yes.

Does anyone know what the forensics show where the shot came from? Did Zimmerman pull out his gun and shoot Martin from the ground will he was being pummeled? Did he get up and pull the gun out and shoot him once they separated?
Why do we not know this?

I'd be more inclined to believe Zimmerman if he had to struggle for his gun and fire from the ground as opposed to standing up and firing. If you're unarmed (as Martin was) then the second somebody pulls out a gun, you're probably backing off. Did witnesses ever hear Zimmerman shouting and saying I have a gun?

ETA: I misread and thought you said why do we WANT to know this.

My thoughts remain the same.
Oh no! If we're to believe JoJo and Carolina Hustler, Treyvon was a madman. Even after Zimmerman pulled out his gun, Trayvon didn't stop, didn't back up, but went for the kill. After all, he was stoned, and you know what stoned guys do. Also, no doubt that the sugar from the Skittles he was carrying gave him a little rush.

to the pro-Martin camp insisting he was just your average teenage kid caught with stolen wedding bands and watches in a backpack, pictures of him holding a .40 caliber gun, pictures of marijuana potted plants, gold capped teeth, tattoos, fight clubs, school suspensions, getting thrown out of his house by his mother. Yeah REAL average self-proclaimed GANGSTA teenager just going to the grocery store to buy Arizona Watermelon Fruit Juice Cocktail and Skittles, the common ingredients to making "Lean" / "Purple Drank" which Martin had been using since at least June 2011. On June 27th, 2011, Trayvon asks a friend online, "unow a connect for codien?" He tells the friend that "robitussin nd soda" could make "some fire ### lean." He says, "I had it before" and that he wants "to make some more." On the night of February 26, if Brandy had some Robitussin at home, Trayvon had just bought the mixings for one "fire ### lean" cocktail. That would explain why neither the Skittles nor the watermelon juice was opened on his walk back from the store. Some are speculating he went to the 7-11 to buy more supplies, meaning he was already on "lean" which would explain why he looked lost/disoriented in the 7-11. If OTC cough syrup was used it would also explain why it was not reported unless a full drug screen was performed. At high doses, dextromethorphan (common ingredient in OTC cough syrups) is classified as a dissociative general anesthetic and hallucinogen, similar to the controlled substances ketamine and phencyclidine (PCP). Also like those drugs, dextromethorphan is an NMDA receptor antagonist.

Martin was in fact leaning over Zimmerman when the fatal shot was fired, just as Zimmerman has maintained. To reach that last conclusion, Knox examined both a Florida Department of Law Enforcement report on the gunshot's impact to the hooded sweatshirt Martin was wearing and the autopsy report describing the gunshot wound to the body. The medical examiner determined the gunshot was fired from "intermediate range," but the hoodie showed a "contact" shot, indicating the muzzle of Zimmerman's gun was touching or extremely close to the fabric when the shot was fired.Knox explained that the loose fitting sweatshirt was farther away from the body because of gravity, which pulled it down as Martin was situated above Zimmerman. That is consistent with Zimmerman's claim that he was on his back struggling with Martin when he reached for the gun, pointed it upward and fired, Knox said."We look at the physical evidence and then we say, 'What does it tell us?'" said Knox, who before his 2010 retirement testified often for the same state attorney’s office that was specially appointed by the governor to prosecute Zimmerman. To demonstrate the effects of an "intermediate range" shot through cloth, Knox and Local 6 used a Kel-Tec 9mm handgun similar to the one Zimmerman owned and, at a local gun range, fired test shots through two pieces of fabric: One tightly stretched over cardboard, the other hanging loosely about three inches in front, in contact with the muzzle when the shot was fired. It produced results similar to what was found in the forensic reports: Contact damage on the cloth closest to the gun, and a 3/8-inch hole with a 2-by-2 inch pattern of stippling, or gunshot residue, on the shirt stretched skintight over the cardboard. This was not an exact scientific replication of the actual gunshot, because of differences in ammunition and the weapons' exact specifications, but a demonstration for Local 6 viewers.

Must have used a safe word. Unfortunately for Zimmerman, the old standby white/hispanic safe word of "help" didn't quite do the job.

Between the force of the gun shot at close range pushing Martin off of Zimmerman and Martin's layers of clothing to absorb the blood and the rain, I'm not surprised in the least. You keep bringing up no "blood splatter" like it is some epic piece of evidence and it is meaningless.

That is consistent with Zimmerman's claim that he was on his back struggling with Martin when he reached for the gun, pointed it upward and fired, Knox said."We look at the physical evidence and then we say, 'What does it tell us?'" said Knox, who before his 2010 retirement testified often for the same state attorneys office that was specially appointed by the governor to prosecute Zimmerman.

You yourself said you couldn't understand why Martin would assault Zimmerman so violently. If he was on something the equivalent of PCP, that wouldn't be enough to convince you? Is there any evidence to prove this? Outside of an unopened can of juice and unopened skittles, nope. If he is found guilty there is something seriously wrong with the jury and justice system.

There is no argument to the injuries Zimmerman received. Either your stance is that Zimmerman made all of his injuries to himself or it was Martin. Which is it?

How much blood do you expect there to be on his hands? Again if this is all you have to prove your case, good luck with that. I would expect to find little to none. There's an eyewitness that can put Martin on top of Zimmerman and there are the documented head injuries Zimmerman sustained, your theory of [i have no clue what your theory could be] would have to overcome this preponderance of evidence.

I can't believe that you're seriously speculating that Martin bought Skittles in order to concoct PCP, and that this suggests to you that Martin might already have been on PCP. I mean do you have any clue at all how ludicrous you sound?

Its as much about Zimms credibility as much as it is about evidence. This is going to a jury...if his story is full of holes hes screwed. You cant claim treys got his hands all over your face as you are bleeding profusely from the nose and then try to explain why there isnt ANY blood on treys hands....it just doesnt add up....use common sense here ...i know that may be difficult for you but try.

I never said he was actually on PCP or that you can make PCP from Skittles, re-read what I wrote.Anything is possible. Why didn't he open up the juice and take a sip on his walk home, why not open up the candy? Both of those are pretty odd. What was he motioning for behind the counter that the cashier at 7-11 denied him?

The more you look into Martin's past, the deleted facebook and twitter accounts, the more questions arise. It's pretty clear you don't care about the truth. You don't care that Zimmerman has black relatives or that he stood up for Sherman Ware, you only care about your ridiculous racial profiling viewpoint.

I don't see anywhere that Tim was throwing around the race card. I don't think the factor of race or Z confronting Martin because Z was predjudiced will go anywhere in this trial. Profiling appears to be evident, but that can be put in another bucket IMO.

No doubt its a long shot and likely unable to be proven, but it would explain why Martin was so violent to Zimmerman. The fact that he had made posts in the past publicly asking where he can get some codeine and how he has made "lean" and would be making it again using OTC cough medicine means it is possible. For those saying it would have shown up on the drug screen are wrong. From what I read they did not perform a comprehensive drug screen that would have picked up OTC drugs.

to the pro-Martin camp insisting he was just your average teenage kid caught with stolen wedding bands and watches in a backpack, pictures of him holding a .40 caliber gun, pictures of marijuana potted plants, gold capped teeth, tattoos, fight clubs, school suspensions, getting thrown out of his house by his mother.
