Florida Teacher 'railroaded' by the PC Police. (1 Viewer)

This seems pretty over the top. I wonder if we are getting the full story here. No, I am not trying to justify what the teacher said (and apparently continued to say), but something doesn't seem complete in this story.
Pretty much the only way she would be exonerated is if the kid asked her to say ******* Taliban or he said it first in a question or something like that. Even then, you'd hope that she had enough common sense not to repeat it.

Gotta agree with Mr. Malloy here. If white people can use the phrase "white trash" on a fantasy football message board, then teachers have to be allowed to lob whatever racial slurs they want at their students without consequence. Otherwise we're just being hypocritical.

Deyab-Houssein said other students laughed when she made her remark. He said he didnt know the teacher was referring to him by the name of a terrorist organization until he asked his parents what the Taliban is, following the first incident.

After learning what the name meant, his response was: This is definitely not funny.
Racist teacher aside, how does a 14 year old not know what the taliban is?
Well the Taliban was removed from power when the boy was 3 and the last bit of history on Wkipedia about them was from when the kid was 10. I think it's pretty obvious why most 14 year olds don't know what the Taliban is. I bet most 44 year olds couldn't really explain it either.

Not sure it belongs here, but something I found funny the other day about how things have changed (not saying for better or worse, just changed). I'm been watching reruns of the show "Coach" lately. I used to love it as a kid, and now have it on in the background when making dinner or whatever.

Anyway, an episode I saw a few days ago has a kid from a middle eastern country (not sure if it was a real country used or not, but it was a country under "martial law") send the coach a video of him kicking "something" through some rough goal posts. In looking at what the kid was kicking, it turns out it wasn't a football - it was a goat's head. The crew travels half way around the world attempting to find the kid - and when they finally find him (in a cave no less), Lou Holtz had already signed the kid.

I realize that the episode was made about 20 years ago, but no way would any main network today have a middle eastern kid in a cave kicking goat heads. Anyway, it made me laugh.

I disagree. For his entire memorable life, we've been at war in Afghanistan. The Taliban played a huge part in that. You'd think that at this point in his life, some sort of current events class would've covered this.

Oh so no we're blaming the teacher and the school for this kid being stupid. Terrific.

Well, it is a public school.

I don't think many middle schools teach current events. They probably have some crazy idea that the kids and their parents could just pay attention to the world they live in.
