Footballguys.com begins season 6 on the web today. We have debuted with just a few things, but will be rolling bigtime by the end of the week. Things to check out:What's New - Features we will have in 2005 including a detailed account of what will be in the Footballguys.com magazine. Sample Player Pages - We are days away from releasing the slickest player pages in the industry. Come see what the hype is all about.Enjoy,David and Joe

 I just tried to visit the depth charts, hoping to look at last year's for a comparison to who got drafted, but link did not work. Will it be possible to look at last year's for a while or will Bob update for currency?

When will you be accepting CCs for subscriptions? What's up with the blogger for 05?Can you elaborate about the player pages?repeating old request, add some radio stuff as we'd like to hear you guys.Good luck in 05

Link is fixed for the depthcharts. The new Draft Dominator needs new projections and schedule strength before being released. Both of those things are being worked this week. Best guess is the Draft Dominator debuts sometime next week.

I mentioned this before... being able to download an audio file of Harris' team notes weekly would be awesome (ala Podcasting).

David--you can just go ahead and use my redraft rankings. I don't mind, and they'll be a lot more accurate than the yearly Barlow-type hype.

How much money? And what's the cost per additional computer?
Hi Noah,It's $19.95 for everything for folks that sign up by May 20 of this year. We held the price from last year on that. $24.95 for those that sign up after May 20.

If you've got a home and away computer that you want to able to access the info from, that's not a problem and we can help you with that at no charge.

What my Man David said. This is always a fun day. We'll roll out slow through the week but I'm really excited about the new stuff we'll have for this year.J

The cost is $19.95 for the whole season if you subscribe before May 20th. This provides you one ID/password. You can access the site from unlimited different computers as long as you log off before using the other computer.

Because of firewalls I cannot seem to get to the website. However, last year I could get most (if not all) of the information from here: http://apps.footballguys.com/Page2.cfm

Will there be a similar option available again this year. Also, is there a way to use a "apps" address to get to the page where I can pay for the 2005 season?

Will the new DD have more features for IDPs?Last years did not have the option for Flex D players, and was missing different scoring options like for safeties, fumbles forced, return yardage on INT/fumbles, etc. Thanks!

Some answers:

We will be accepting money on Wednesday.

The Player pages will be 6 tabs:

Outlook

Career Stats

Game Logs

Split Stats

Play-by-Play

Tab 6 will integrate the news when the new Blogger is up and running (expected date = May 12th).
Very cool.
This is information you can get in many other places though (for free)...
Hi TCC,Sure, there are lots of sources for stats on the internet. Some free, some not. One of the services we provide is pulling all the data together so it's easier for our guy to have all that he wants right at his fingertips on one page. We think the Player Pages will be that for our guys. Same concept with the News. Much of what we'll have each day could be found by the guy with tons of time to surf every site and gather the info. We provide the service of consolidating that info into one place for our guys.

And of course, this is a small part of the overall product we offer.

But even then, there are folks who won't pay. That's cool. I've no problem whatsoever with that mindset. Our goal is to work really hard and bring enough features to the site that there are folks who think it's a good value.

Thanks.

J

As usual, guys  Can't wait for the DD, one of my favorite toys. Also looking forward to playing around with the Lineup Dominator.

In regards to the outlook, who's opinion is that exactly? Good point Joe on the question asked about can't you get this type of stuff free on the internet. This is only a small part of everything offered by FBG. It's just being featured now because it's new to the overall package. It's 19.95 for an entire year, it's the cost of a half a tank of freaken gasoline.

That FBG strategy magazine looks insane. 228 pages of pure football bliss. :) I didn't see anything auction-related listed in the summary. Joe or David , will there be a lot of auction material in the magazine ?? I'm doing my first auction this year.

 Quarter tank in my work vehicle F-150, at about $2.79 if I'm lucky (Cal).

Dude, you're destroying the ozone with that tank  2.79, is that the price of gas in California?

Yeah, it's a good price for gas in the Bay Area. I've seen it as high as 2.99 a gallon........... for regular!

Here's a link you can use to get past some of the workplace filters out there. Not sure how long it will last -- that's the problem with the filters, they will adjust the ban list and then you have to readjust the workaround, but if it's not overused, it could last a while. It will work on most Footballguys content except the forums, which do not allow the forums to be presented in a frameset:"Through The Looking Glass" link to Footballguys

Thanks Cowboy. The "outlook" material is always what David and I agree on. Often times, it might be actually written by another guy like Jason or Maurile, but it always goes through the stamp of David and myself.

Got a question - with the magazine you are talking about , is that part of the subscriber package or separate ? either way how will you cater magazine-wise for me and others who are abroad ? Cheers

Joe,I subscribed in 2004 and did not win my league's Super Bowl. Does this mean I get a discount for 2005?

I think a payment schedule like the following would be appropriate:

2004 result - 2005 subscription price

------------------------------------------

missed playoffs - Free!

lost 1st rd - $9.95

lost 2nd rd - $12.95

lost Super Bowl - $14.95

won Super Bowl* - full price

* unless it's a free league in which case your subscription is free

Joe and David,

I was one of the recap writers for last year. I've mentioned this idea in the past, but haven't gotten much feedback.

I think the coolest thing in the world for subscribers would be per-player recaps on the player pages. These would be excerpts from the game recaps, but organzied on a per player basis.

Right now, the pages are showing by game stats and even play by play stats. But any non-subscriber who knows where to find those things can get those off the web for free. What would be invaluable for a FBG subscriber would be to click on the Shaun Alexander page and instead of just his stats, be able to read: "Game 1: Alexander picked up the majority of his yards in garbage time... Game 2: Alexander broke off an 80 yard TD but otherwise had a below average day... etc."

That content would be exclusive to FBGs.

I am a professional software developer and can easily write a program to parse last year's recaps and generate the individual play-by-play player pages.

Let me know if this idea is valuable.

Is it wrong that I just pleasured myself at the thought of all the information that I will be getting for the upcoming season?

Footballguys.com? Who are these guys spamming our message board. Never heard of 'em.By the way David, when are we gonna get together for lunch? I'll pay you for my subscription then (probably in pennies :D ).Edit to add - I just went to the site, thinking I'd see upgrades from last year. Nope, the staff is still ugly. Just kidding. No I'm not.Well, kinda.Maybe.

First! Thanks! Even if the answers to below questions are

NO!

No Way!
Nope!
Yeah Right!
Shut Up about this already!
Maybe, but we won't tell you.I appreciate all the effort. Now if you just figure out a way to keep the forum information overload under control ;)

But since a) I know that it is easier to deal with request earlier rather then later, and b) I'm greedy and would like to be lazy here are a few

Questions/ Wish List Suggestions

Are the player pages going to link from more or less every other FBG page?(i.e if I'm on a projections page can I click on the player's name and get to the Outlook page?

Same for Stats? Same for News in the Blogger?)

Please date projections! Please keep, and present older projections! Please post Staff projections other then the "official" projection!
When the time comes, please Link Player of the Day threads and possibly other threads on the Player Pages
Why not links to the Player's Pages on other free sites? Almost all of the majors use exactly the same player id number from Stats so it should be trivial to generate these links.(Do you want/need a list?)

Please review this post while it is April and not late October. Even if it is too late for 2005, keep it in mind for next offseason.
Are the Doug's Pro Football Reference player id's being used to identify players, or is "AlexSh00" just a coincidence?

The NFL Draft and the DD All in the same week it's got me feelin all warm and fuzzy inside.

Looking forward to another year here at FBG's in 2005.One thing I'm curious about is will there be more Dynasty Coverage from Drugrunner and Will Grant in 2005.The Dynasty scene is in full gear right now and it's the only leagues that I play in.....Keep up the good work.....Fin

Coming back into the fold after trying a so-called competitor last year. :bag: You never know how much you miss something until its gone. I'll never doubt again.

I'm pretty sure I can speak for that Drugrunner guy. Will, Cecil Lamney, and I are going to try and "step up" the Dynasty coverage this season. There is a 5 year draft analysis geared towards the Dynasty Owner in the cue to come out with the site launch. Hopefully we can get the player pages to go very deep and cover a number of lessor/up and coming players.

Although it hasn't been approved, we have an expectation that Dynasty Player Spotlights will be back this season as either a stand alone, or as part of the regular Player Spotlights.

From the results of the survey Joe sent out in the off season, Dynasty is not as big of an aspect/demand as many other facets of the Main stream coverage. If Dynasty is something you want to see more of, everyone will need to make their voice heard.

This is year two of Dynasty coverage, and it was thrown together last season, we hope to do better by you guys this season. ;)

Hi Rat,That's definitely in the works. I'm not certain exactly what form it'll take but that stuff is too good to pass up for the guys that are into it.

Hi Cmap,The magazine will be totally separate from the subscription. We'll likely be selling them directly from the website, and we'll get you taken care of with over seas shipping somehow.
