FOOTBALLGUYS MAGAZINE JUST ARRIVED (2 Viewers)

What did you think of the most recent Podcast?
I am still eating it up. But I was just hunting around to make sure that the Hawaiin bro would know where to look, and I can't find the links now. Did they take them down? I saw something saying they are working out bugs and the weekly podcast is expected to debut in July...was that older? Man if they took the links down, I sure am glad I downloaded it already. But yeah...I am looking forward to every podcast, from here on out. There are so many times a day that I am just twiddling my thumbs in line or on the road, whatever, and I am not big into music...its ok, but if I can fix the FF jones? No contest. Keep em coming!

And Cecil, I sent you a LinkedIn invitation earlier today...hope you consider it.

Not to hijack here, either...I already posted my lack of luck on the ticket. I sure was hoping though. I would like to see the prize packages broken up even smaller next year and showered down upon the FBG online subcribers like confetti...an FFTOC entry here, an online discount there...I would accept smaller overall prizes for better odds. Of course that would mean Mr. Dodds family Mom and Dad would have to stuff even more magazines with various inserts, lol. ;)
its in updates http://www.footballguys.com/updates.htm
Wicked cool! Thank you! I knew I was missing something...too much Fathers Day feeding frenzy, lol.

Got it, and jumping on board tomorrow!

Have to admit, I ordered one, but I am not entirely sold on the idea of a FBG mag.. I am sure my thoughts are hondas but here we go

1) Timeliness of Info, obviously the Internet owns print

2) Mags having that "little bit extra" or the "platinum plan" seems from a business perspective, making the group subscribe to another service, you lose a few of us

3) discussion of premium content already on the boards, now mag content as well.

not that I know a thing about this, I am just a supporter, I have my own stupid ideas, and lay them out..

would it be better to tier the online subscription?

Silver - 10 bucks, all you get is cheatsheets updated weeekly

Gold - regular price, all the good content we get now

Platinum - 35 to 40 bucks - all the good content now, you get a mag for the preseason.. and here, check this, some us whack jobs would like this... an END OF season printing, of ALL the online content in one cool FBG year in review...

well whatya think... man i gotta lotta looney ideas.. run with it fellas run forest run

I just started a new thread to explore this great idea...I think it warrants more discussion, but I dont want to hijack this already busy thread. You can find it here:http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=247324

Its called "An FBG Post-Season Fantasy Wrap-Up Mag..., What would interest you in buying one?"

got my mag saturday (MI), no golden ticket.

wondering aloud: did every article need to say "go to the website for more detailed stuff"? i think the reader got the point after the first few dozen references.

not if we knew in advance what articles different readers would read & not read...

Is there an official FBG number of golden tickets already claimed?

I actually stayed home from work today to work on league stuff and also hoping I would get my mag......I did!

No golden ticket, no extra's either. Still a great deal.

Rody

BTW......Pennsburg, Pennsylvania......50 miles outside of Philly in upper northwest of Montgomery County.

Got mine today. Been out of town. Great mag at first glance, but no golden ticket. However, I did get free training camp reports coupon! Not a bad deal at all. :football:

Just ordered mine last night via Paypal - any chance I will get it delivered to me before I leave for vacation on Fri? Need some reading material!!!!

Just got my magazine in the mail. NO GOLDEN TICKET!!! I haven't looked through the mag yet, but can report that it was a bit beaten up when it arrived. I was surprised...although I am sure that it is the fault of the USPS.

Oh yeah...I am in Orange County, CA.

Hey ShaqAttaq,I was a big proponent of this for the simple reason that a) we're paying for the mag so why shouldn't we use all the space we can to promote the site, b) the mag is in and of itself of limited value without the site to keep you updated and c) you would be surprised how many people don't notice something the first 100 times they see it, particularly in the margins or ad-based. :)

Ditto

Got my mag today...No golden ticket :wall: Great reading thus far. Good luck to everyone that is still waiting as this just increased your odds of finding a golden ticket in your mailbox.

BTW - I am in Tennessee.

Got mag today. No ticket.

About that cover shot... Reggie wearing #5 in a Saints uni?!? I noticed the credit says it was "digitally altered." Was that USC uni photoshopped to look Saintly?

Adrian, MI...

No golden ticket, but did receive the magazine, and a ticket for a 3 yr subscription (which has not been verified yet.)

Dodds - what do we need to do to verify the 3 year subscription.

It did say to email him, which is what I did. Waiting for additional info from Dodds. Doesn't matter to me really, as I already paid for my subscription this year.

Bought one at a Barnes & Noble today, but only because they didnt have a PFW FF mag yet (I like the format and the game by game stat boxes)....I must say though, Its a big improvement over last years FBG mag. Good job guys.

Got the mag yesterday. Training camp reports, but no Golden Tickey

Anyone know if the Camp reports are included in the FBG Subscription? I thought they were last year

Got mine yesterday. What page is the Golden Ticket on again? A couple of "Random Thoughts" after going through the first half of the mag..

1) Reggie Bush, in a Saints uniform, with the number 5? Okay, I can see the Saints uni as we now know he's a Saint. But you missed the boat on the number. I realize its a photo cropped USC pic and changing the number might not have been possible. If that was the case, you shouldn't have used Bush. Go with someone else like Tiki from last year. Someone that you know who they will be and what number they will have. Its like saying to a prospective buyer: "This info is from MAY (or earlier). For more up to date, you have to go to our website." If that’s the message you want to send, then great. I don't think that’s the case though.

2) Joe's Random Thoughts. Did you really need to have this in the magazine? Granted, they are humorous when they are timely during the year, but now nine months later, they are kinda stale.

3) Apparently msg board members can be banned for posting scantily clad women on the board. Apparently, if you are paying for an ad in the magazine though, this is not a problem. Can’t really ban a paying sponsor now can we?

4) The whole concept of a magazine is leaving me wanting more. I don’t think I will get it next year because of this. First, when looking through the ranking, I realize that they are very dated. For example, Dom Davis is ranked fairly high. But we know that his knee was giving him problems at the last OTA. So does this justify his high ranking or did the Staff assume that he would have been fine at the latest OTA, and seeing as he is not, then shouldn’t he be lowered? If he is lowered, who moves up? I enjoy the website and use the tools there. I just don’t see a value in the magazine for one of your website subscribers.

That being said, I am enjoying the magazine. After all, where I read it doesn’t have an internet connection. But I just don’t think it has that much ‘value’ for a site member. That’s just me.

QUOTE(PennState-JD @ May 27 2006, 06:30 AM)

too late to change Bush's number? QUOTE

From Dodds:

We knew the league would rule that way this year, but like the #5 cover anyway. This is the number he wore for the card companies too which leads me to believe he may someday get to wear that number. This will likely be discussed in the offeseaon and I bet the league tweaks this rule going into next year. It's a lot of money to the league with people changing jerseys, etc.

Im dont disagree with your assessments, just pointing you in the direction of some possible answers.
