Running back DeShaun Foster's inability to hold on to the football is once again becoming an issue for the Carolina Panthers. Foster, who has struggled holding on to the football in the past, fumbled twice on Sunday, giving him four for the season.

Three of those have resulted in turnovers.

He also dropped two passes in Carolina's 20-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Foster finished the game with 64 yards on 13 carries and caught three passes for 17 yards.

"Anytime we put the ball on the ground, it's a concern," Fox said.

Foster's third lost fumble of the season came at the Carolina 29-yard line in the third quarter after picking up nine yards on a third-and-10 draw play. Foster's

hmmmm......is it DeA time ?????

What is it exactly going to take for Dwill to start? By the talk around here Dwill is mini LT. All he is right now is a mini-foster.

I don't understand why him missing practice means he's getting benched. Even if he gets benched, you'd think he has to still go to practice, I don't get it.

There was a tidbit in today's Sporting News that Foster's fumbling problems could cost him his starting job. So there's at least one story.

Foster is averaging 5 yards per carry and DeAngelo is at 4. How about improving there?

Makes no sense, if not hurt you bench a guy who's doing bad(if thats the case). Should be other way around you make him work harder in practice.

This is from the Charlotte Observer:

Delhomme, 3 others miss Panthers' practice

Four key Panthers players missed today's practice. Quarterback Jake Delhomme continued to sit out with a strained elbow, running back Nick Goings is recovering from a concussion suffered Sunday and linebacker Dan Morgan is sidelined by a slight tear in his right Achilles' tendon.

Also sitting out was running back DeShaun Foster; that was listed on the injury report as a "team decision." Since coach John Fox said it wasn't for disciplinary reasons, Foster was merely getting a day off to rest.

Linebacker Adam Seward, normally Morgan's backup, has been sidelined by a calf injury, but had limited participation in practice.

PURE speculation on my part, but maybe he is being traded. If they are trading him, it would make no sense to have him at practice.

Or, they figured he's going to be getting the ball A LOT because David Carr stinks and they want to make sure he's rested with the 30 carries he may be getting this weekend.

I'd be stunned if that were true. They have no one to replace him - Williams hasn't looked that great.

I personally have never heard of a coach not allowing a player to participate in practice, and going on record saying it was not injury related. That doesn't sound like a story with legs to you? Seems very weird to me.ETA: Ok, just saw the subsequent post indicated this could just be to let Foster rest. Could very well be a non-story.

Joey Galloway has not practiced on a Wednesday all season (don't know if he practiced today though). Gruden said it was not an injury, merely giving him a day of rest.

Foster doesnt practice everyday.. He is high risk. Unless you are in a dynasty D Will isnt worth rostering...

This is normal :ptts:

Probably figure's he fumbles enough in the games that he doesn't need to practice fumbling during the week.

Housh hasn't practiced on a Wednesday all year either.

As a DeA owner, I'd like to see him get moved up there, but given Foster's injury history I'm sure Fox is just being careful not to risk injury to Foster

Well, that may be, but that doesn't change the fact that there are stories out there - contrary to your assertion.

Wow what a terrible spin this is. Foster is fumbling, but running GREAT. When I first read that they held him out of practice my first thought was "they plan on running him a ton this week after seeing Carr last week". I'm thinking it could almost be like last year week 16 vs ATL when Carolina ran a combined 49 times between Foster and DWill.

That's definitely true. There is so much competition on the internet these days that people are too busy trying to scoop one another.

he also had a tough game against the Bucs....give your starting back a day off from practice. We're talkin' 'bout practice.

Not the game, not the game that DeShaun Foster goes out there and dies for.

Sounds like a lot of DeAngelo Williams owners here who drafted him higher than they should and now are looking for any glimmer of hope that Williams starts. The way I see it, Foster and Williams split carries in the beginning and now Foster seems to be getting the heavy load.

Panthers | Foster returns to practice Thursday

Thu, 4 Oct 2007 11:13:26 -0700

The Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers RB DeShaun Foster returned to practice Thursday, Oct. 4. Foster did not practice yesterday due to a coach's decision.

Can someone please change the title of this thread. There is no indication whatsoever that Foster is getting benched.

He does have a "?" at the end, so to me, that implies asking a question, not making a statement.
