Frank Gore (1 Viewer)

I really doubt it's anything serious. I'll post what Gore said Saturday before the game. I just have to find where I read it.
He tweaked his knee DURING the game, so any comments he made last Saturday would've been due to his ankle injury from the week before. He's got multiple nagging injuries now and while I agree that they aren't serious, I think there's a high probability of them being re-aggravated if they don't allow them to heal 100%. I wouldn't be shocked if they force AZ to game plan for Gore by saying all the right things publicly, suit him up for an emergency role and then ride Hunter for at least one week. They (and I) need a healthy Gore down the stretch.
I'm to the point now where I may put Hunter in the lineup this week instead of Gore or possibly both of them not sure yet.
At this point I think you have to take a wait and see approach. You shouldn't make your lineup decisions before you have to. Keep an eye on the news.

this is going to turn out to be a gut wrenching week for Gore owners (of which I am one). Wouldn't mind if they do sit him vs Zona, but Harbaugh doesn't seem like the type to a)sit him or, b) announce that he intends to sit him.

Why in the world would they sit him the whole 2nd half of a huge game if he was healthy enough to play? or if he is healthy enough to play next week? I watched that whole game. I didn't see him jumping or running or anything on the sideline. I did see him try to sneak back in the game though which was pretty funny.

Anything Harbaugh or Gore says at this point is just conjecture to me. I just hope they dont suit Gore up, start him, then give Hunter the ball a bunch.

This was Saturday...

As San Jose Mercury News staffer Daniel Brown noted on Saturday, during the 49ers' long stretch of futility, Frank Gore often was reluctant to share the load. He wanted to do anything he could to stave off the mounting losses -- even if that meant withstanding his own mounting injuries.

Now that the 49ers have a commanding lead in the NFC West, Gore sounds a lot more open to the idea of backing off. Looking ahead, the 49ers (7-1) might be able to clinch the division title early enough to let their leading rusher freshen up for the first playoff game of his seven-year career.

"It's up to coach. Whatever he feels is best for our team, for us. (That's) what we would do," Gore said Thursday. "I don't have any say-so about whether I should play less, or whatever."

Gore said his latest injury, to his left ankle, will not be an issue against the Giants today.

Gore has five consecutive 100-yard games. He needs 149 yards to surpass Joe Perry (7,344 yards) for the 49ers' all-time franchise record.

The Giants rank only 25th in the NFL against the run (allowing 127.1 yards per game), but Gore said the stat is deceiving. He pointed to a game in which Buffalo's Fred Jackson racked up 121 rushing yards -- but 80 came on one touchdown run.

Meanwhile, Gore's newfound willingness to back off notwithstanding, I'm expecting a full workload today (assuming no setbacks to the ankle).

Remember: Head coach Jim Harbaugh has acknowledged Gore's heavy workload without giving any indication it's time to back off.

Now with this knee injury, I think Kendall Hunter's gonna get more carries to get Gore fully healthy before the playoffs.
