Did you miss this :Summary: The early word this morning is that Jaguars RB Fred Taylor looked good in pre game warmups and will start. He could give way to Greg Jones if has a setback during the game but it looks like he'll start.

Last email I saw was 11:40 am that said he wasn't playing.

Did you check the very same message board that you are using to  ? Or do you feel that the shark pool is better suited for whining than for gathering useful information?

Yeah, and that was at 10:41 (I think that's Central Time). Either or, they did say that he had a set back and that there was a good chance he wouldn't start. They did say too that he was a game-time decision and that there's still a chance he'd start. You rolled the dice by not starting him and you lost. Don't blame Footballguys. Do you really think they would know in advance how Fred Taylor's body would feel on Sunday morning and if he would play?

Not a noob. Don't you have a bedpan to empty or something?

Email = dated information.

Message boards = instant information.
:goodposting: I never check my email updates. Go right to the message boards. Most injury updates are pinned anyway.

It helps if you read them all:From Saturday morning:

Players in the news + Fred Taylor Status - Saturday 12:59 am EST: *** Friday Update *** RB Fred Taylor (JAX) did not practice on Friday and has been downgraded to questionable. While he will be a game-time decision, we are very worried about him being able to play in week eight. It's never a good thing for a player to be downgraded late in the week. Taylor in particular has a history here. The team will watch this closely Saturday but we're pessimistic as of Friday night.
Then from Saturday night:
Players in the news Week 8 - Saturday 11:17 pm EST: *** Saturday Update *** RB Fred Taylor (JAX) will be a game time decision. Coach Jack Del Rio said he'll make a decision based on how Taylor is able to warm up. He sounded a little more optimistic today: "We anticipate in having him. I'm just trying to be as accurate as possible (about the injury). We're far more optimistic than we were two weeks ago." If Taylor can't go or is limited, Greg Jones would see action.
Nowhere in those updates does it say Fred wont play and the second update is downright optimistic. You should have read all the e-mails.

Take the responsibility of running your own team, period.
But... But... an old email said... Why should I have to run my own team or make sure I have the most up to date information?

BTW, should I start Culpepper this week? ;)

Thanks to all of you who responded without a personal attack, I appreciate the advice.
You attacked FBG for sending out an email, blaming them for YOUR loss. Did you expect better in return?

Yea, God forbid a FBG admits to screwing something up? Fact of the matter is that no service, whether here or elsewhere, is 100% correct. This owner should have checked, and double checked, his info before setting his lineup. All those that say check the msg boards Sunday morning are incorrect as well. Why should a paying member of this site have to check a free msg board for updated info? If that is the case, then why are we paying money? Summary: FBGs, like the rest of us, may not have known FT was going to play. However, the owner should have double checked his info and should not blame FBGs for his loss. This is a consulting service and should be treated as one. Not a decision service. In addition, Paying Members of this site should not have to check out the free msg boards for the latest status of players.

:lmao: Where do you think FBGs get the latest info for a lot of their updates? Fact is, they cannot be expected to be reviewing the thousands of possible resources / media feeds at once within the last hour before gametime.

As for the free message boards, just because they are open access they are not free. FBG subscription fees pay for the servers, software, etc, and while you could still enjoy them as a non-paying member they only exist due to paying members and are therefore a membership perk.

I don't mind it when ppl criticize footballguys, because, after all, we are the customers. However, criticism is fine as long as its justifiable and leads to improvement. In this case, I did receive from footballguys the email concerning Fred Taylor and about him looking ready to play before gametime. I don't think you can blame them here, as I'm certain most of us received the news from footballguys that Taylor was going to play.Have you been receiving the email updates? I had some problems receiving updates before (hotmail) and switched to my gmail account. no problems so far.

DaveYes the paying members should check the board on Sunday mornings. The information is updated instantly from the national shows (ESPN, Fox, CBS) and local radio stations that host a team. Many of the GTD are determined in the pregame warmups. Sending an updated email out for each questionable player on Sunday morning with less than 30 min before kickoff is not very efficient, especially when they pin threads with all the injured players at the top of the board. IMO the board is perfect for the hour before kickoff injury updates.

If he truly was a paying member, he could have gone to the Sunday Morning Updates page and seen this:

I started Fred Taylor and won this week, I'd like to thank all the posters in the Pinned Fred Taylor thread for the heads up well in advance. To the original poster, where should I send this? :ptts:

Don't thank me, I think you belong on the short bus. It was a stupid post and you got stupid replies. And if you don't want personal attacks then I would refrain from telling people to go empty a bedpan/

Which is why I don't give them my money anymore. To the original poster: while it's your responsibility to do as much homework on questionable players as possible, it's also a bad move to criticize the FBG staff. They can do no wrong.

Oh dear lord.If you're paying FBG *just* for the Sunday injury reports, you shouldn't be a subscriber.

That's less than one percent of why any of us subscribe.

Well, if all your looking for is for up-to-the-date injury information, then I guess you don't need to pay.Kinda think you get a little more from FBG than just game time injury status.
