I am a bit neutral on the Kolb deal, but I do think that Philly got the best of it. I also think that AZ didn't have much choice and had to do something here. I'm very worried about the D this year. I will grant that DRC did not have a great year last year, but the previous year he was a pro bowler, and he has a lot of potential to develop into something very good. He is also good enough to guard anyone on the opposing team. Our to three corners are now:

Greg Toler - fourth round pick a couple years ago from a small Div. II school. He's physical and has shown flashes. I like the way he plays. But I don't trust him to cover the #1 guy for the other team all year.

Michael Adams - a nice player on special teams, but really can't cover very well. He was completely exposed in the GB playoff game two years ago.

Patrick Peterson - a rookie. a rookie. a rookie. Sure, he looks great and could be special, but he's a rookie and will struggle this year.

Add in Adrian Wilson who can't cover anyone, and our secondary is in a world of hurt this year.

We definitely upgraded the offense with this deal, but we lose Breaston which offsets a little of that gain, and we weaken our secondary which offsets it some more.

Looks like a good year to have QB's and WR's playing the Cards.

You might want to peek into the Philly trophy case before you start baggin on the Cards.

The Cards have been to the SB more recently than the Eagles have, but the Eagles pedigree is far better than the cards. The Cards play in the NFC West, yet have but one NFC West Title in the last 10 years when it's been pretty mediocre. The Eagles play in the NFC East and I can't remember a season when they weren't extremely competitive in that division. As for the deal, well, I just don't see it in Kolb, so I think the Eagles made out just with the pick. He's had another year under some really good QB developing coaches, so maybe he's better than what we've seen, but the Scott Mitchell thing keeps sticking in my head. The guy got to learn from Shula and Marino and still sucked and that's a lot better on both counts than Reid and McNabb/Vick. That being said, I think this was Fitz' deal. He worked out with Kolb and I'm guessing said he wanted the guy as the QB and they made it happen to keep Fitz happy who is nearing the end of this contract. If it were me, I would've gone with the more proven quantity of Orton and drafted someone next year to hold the clip board.

Thanks!I'm pretty sure Jamal Williams was the NT with the Chargers as well, though he seems to have lost a step over the years. Think he's about 35 or 36 now if I remember. Doesn't seem to be a very good free agent market for nose tackles apart from those two.

Saying these two teams are in the same league together is akin to me saying, neither Leonardo Dicaprio or I have slept with Cindy Crawford, so we're about even.... The baseline of no SB Trophies is a pretty ridiculous line to draw in the sand and say, we;re both on the same side of that line.

Which leads to looking at yards per pass attempt, where 4 out of Kolb's 8 games with 20+ attempts he was below 6 ypa, while Moore has 11 games with that many attempts and was only below 6 ypa once... and only below 7 ypa three times.

I like the deal for the cards. Maybe not the money they threw at him though. I prefer Kolb to any QB in the draft, and DRC and a 2012 or 2013 2nd won't get you pick 1, 8, 10, or 12.

Eagles won this deal hands down, can't even justify it...but i've never been a fan of Kolb.

The New England Patriots have acquired wide receiver Chad Ochocinco after he accepted a restructured three-year contract from the Patriots, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Terms of the trade weren't known. Ochocinco was seen catching a plane to Boston Thursday. He was scheduled to make $6.35 million for the Bengals this year. The Patriots wanted him to restructure his contract to fit their cap.

They only success they had was when they took a cast off Kurt Warner in the twilight of his career and he did something with them despite themselves. Maybe Kolb is better than what we've seen after holding the clipboard for another year. But the Eagles, much like the Pats, just seem to know when it is the right time to dump a guy.
