so, now that gado has had two respectable games.... what do you think of his future? have to think he has a shot at the 2006 starting role... as in "it's his to lose" of course if the pack drafted Reggie Bush, it would be tuff to keep it...

Has Samkon Gado proven enough for you to start him when the matchups are right over "proven rb's" like Willis against San Diego? The Vikes don't have a good run D and I'm just wondering who you are considering starting Gado over.

Probably starting him and Dunn next week over Domanick Davis, Willie Parker, TJ Duckett, Chris Perry, and Jonathan Wells. I have to do some research yet, though...

I think he's worth more than LT!

I'm basing my take on the matchups this week-Gado goes over alot of top guys. After Week 10 Gado doesn't find his way back in my lineup.T.Jones is banged up, D.Davis bum knee, and McGahee has been ordinary last 2 games

(Lawrence Tynes)

I would consider him over McGahee considering the SD run defense. That's a tough call though. It's hard to see other teams let him run all over them like Atlanta did, were they caught off guard, or what? The remining schedule (besides MN) looks a bit tough though.

Uh, you posted your reply inside my quote. Makes it look like I'm saying what you're saying, you know? There. Fixed

Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. - James 2:19Oh....you said believe in "Gado" - I thought you said "God." My mistake. :P

Yes, I do. In fact, I just saw his image on a piece of aged cheddar that I am eBaying as we speak...

I'm starting him over Willis right now
Can you imagine if you said this before the season started? Your league mates would have had you committed.

With my only reliable start being SDavis :wall: I need some help. I'm grabbing him off the WW tomorrow night and he will likely be starting for me quite a bit if Dom and TJones can't stay in the lineup. Before anyone jumps in and asks why he wasn't selected already just know that I'm in a dynasty league with a salary cap. Picking up guys costs valuable cape space that can be pushed into next year if you have any left. We can't just grab guys at will off the WW. It costs us, so some of these marginal guys don't get swiped up as quickly as they do in a Yahoo league...

IMO, Gado is in the right place at the right time. The Packers need a reliable runner, and Gado is the last man standing - Fisher's broken rib is in a bad place and I wouldn't be surprised to see him sidelined for a few more weeks. In the meantime, Gado is succeeding as the featured runner. I compare this situation to last year's in Caro with Nick Goings - everyone else goes down, and Goings ends up with 217/821/6 rushing 45/394/1 receiving - the vast bulk of it during weeks 11-17. He wasn't considered "starter" material, and went right back to a role player this season, but the stars aligned for him during the second half last year.

Goings 2004 game log

Gado is the guy with opportunity in Green Bay, and he's going to see 20+ touches per game to close the season, I would guess. He certainly hasn't disappointed so far.

I picked him up in 2 leagues and just missed him in a third, and he powered me to wins in both leagues where I rostered him yesterday...not that I expect 100+ yards and multiple TDs every week - but I do expect 60-80 and 1 score fairly regularly...

Before the Atlanta game, I would have said "no". However, two solid weeks (160+ yards and 4 TDs) will likely make the Packers continue to feed him the ball as a fan-favorite in an otherwise worthless season....unless he does something on/off the field to screw it up. I'll probably be sitting Dillon and maybe Fred Taylor for him next week, depending upon the injury reports later in the week.

He had 2 fumbles this week so tread carefully. Although I dont see anyone else they can play so he should be good for the rest of the year.

Well latest FBG news had reports of Green Bay talking to Dorsey Levens so could be some cause for concern on the Gado bandwagon.

RIght now I have a hard time believing in any Packer on a consistent basis. And my benchs are deep enough now that I dont have to worry about putting him in.Edited for spelling

Gado receives NFC weekly player honor

Nov 16, 2005, 22:40 GMT

NEW YORK, NY, United States (UPI) -- Green Bay running back Samkon Gado Wednesday was named NFC Offensive Player of Week 10.

Gado, an undrafted free agent out of Liberty University, is getting a chance to be the Packers chief running back because of injuries to Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport. The Nigerian native ran for 103 yards on 25 carries for two touchdowns and added a touchdown reception in the Packers` 33-25 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Also named were strong safety Darren Sharper of Minnesota (defense), and cornerback Nathan Vasher of the Chicago Bears (special teams). Sharper, who spent eight seasons with Green Bay before joining Minnesota as a free agent in the off-season, tied a Vikings` franchise record with three interceptions in one game as Minnesota beat the New York Giants, 24-21.

Vasher returned a missed field goal 108 yards for a touchdown on the longest play in the NFL`s 86-year history, helping Chicago beat San Francisco, 17-9.

Gado likely starter rest of way
Date: Nov 16, 2005

How close was Green Bay rookie running back Samkon Gado to being known as just another replacement starter in an injury-riddled backfield, rather than the instant hero he became Sunday?

Head coach Mike Sherman, who has next-to-zero tolerance for fumbles, acknowledged Monday that Gado's pair of near-fatal miscues almost cut short his first NFL start and could have cost the Packers the 33-25 upset victory they scored at Atlanta.

"If those weren't recovered by our guys, we wouldn't necessarily be talking about him right now," Sherman said. "That could have been the turning point in the ballgame. So, we're fortunate that that wasn't the turning point in the ballgame and we were able to jump on those balls. ... He needs to hang on to the football better."

A week earlier, in a home loss to Pittsburgh, ReShard Lee got the start at halfback but was promptly yanked by Sherman after turning the ball over on just his second carry of the game. Thus began the improbable emergence of Gado, who took over the lead role in that game and ran 26 times for 62 yards.

Incidentally, Gado mishandled his second carry Sunday but was spared the quick hook from Sherman when fullback Vonta Leach recovered the ball.

"In fairness, I'm not going to let them turn the ball over," Sherman said. "It wasn't a turnover, so I didn't (bench Gado). But, he knows how I feel about that. He told me it wouldn't happen again. He did get hit pretty solidly on that first fumble. (But) not to make excuses for him, he has to hang on to the football."

Gado made amends in short order, completing that same possession with a 9-yard touchdown run. He then scored on a 1-yard shovel pass from Brett Favre, following a fumble by Falcons counterpart Warrick Dunn, to put the Packers up 14-0.

He later atoned for another fumble, which was recovered by receiver Andrae Thurman, by running in a 2-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

It also capped a monster day by the unknown Gado, who went undrafted out of Division I-AA Liberty and was signed to Green Bay's practice squad only four weeks earlier. He gained 103 yards in 25 carries, becoming the first Packer to reach the century mark this season.

Although there's a chance Tony Fisher will be ready to return to action after being out the last two games with a broken rib, indications are Gado will remain the starter for the game Monday night against Minnesota.

"There's a lot of good things about Sam that make him a good first-down back, and Fisher has really established himself as a third-down back," offensive coordinator Tom Rossley said. "I think we would probably let the backs do what they do best."

I'm convinced. At first, I was worried about his ability to handle the load, but after 25+ touches per game, he's proven me wrong. I was also worried about the O-line, but after last week's 103 yd/4.1 ypc, I lost those doubts, too. Then I thought, will GB see the redzone? 4 scores later, I know better. Now, I'm wondering...how this kid's going to handle the spotlight on MNF...primetime...night game? He's in my starting line-up and now I can watch an entire game of him.Where would you put him on the weekly cheatsheet?

 :goodposting: He's been getting 25+ touches now as a starter. I see the cold winter games in GB giving him even more. Can he do another 4.1 ypc game? I dunno. But if he gets 25+ touches and does only 3 ypc that's 7 FF points, add an occasional TD, and now it's more like 13 points. I'll take that from my RB#2.

Also have him starting in another league along with LT. Benching Julius Jones, Marion Barber, Chris Brown, and Curtis Martin :o

I'm leaning toward starting him this week. I'm stuck with a bunch of supposedly talented backs who don't get enough carries to be FF worthwhile. I'll probably start Gado along with T. Jones and leave J. Jones, K. Jones and Tatum Bell on the bench.Last week was particularly frustrating with J. Jones and Bell. They just don't get enough carries right now to justify a start. I have to pray for Bell to break a long one because that's the only way he scores enough right now.

starting him over Rudi Johnson, I like the matchup better, will get the same or more carries, home VS a weaker D.

This will probably be the last time I start him.In my redraft league we're already past the trade deadline but I like how my team looks for a possible title run.

In the dynasty league I won him in, though, he's going to have a pretty low salary since he didn't play at all in the first half of the season and will most likely be a keeper for me next year.

The question is, 'Do I have a Gado complex?' which makes me wonder if this... poster... has any idea as to the kind of grades one has to receive in college to be accepted at a top fantasy football board. If you have the vaguest clue as to how talented someone has to be to lead a fantasy football team. I have an M.D. from Harvard. I am board certified in fantasy drafting and team management. I have been awarded prize checks from seven different FF leagues in New England, and I am never, ever, sick at sea. So I ask you, when someone goes in to that chapel and they fall on their knees and they pray to Gado that their QB doesn't throw 4 interceptions, or that their WR doesn't tear an ACL, or that their RB doesn't suffer from plantar fasciitis, who do you think they're praying to? You go ahead and read your Bible... Harry, and you go to your church, and with any luck you might win the annual raffle, but if you're looking for Gado, He was in the cubicle at the end of the office on November 17th, and He doesn't like to be second guessed. You ask me if I have a Gado complex? Let me tell you something. I AM Gado.

I'm not sure his YPC average matters all that much. The Packers have a good enough passing offense to get him into the red zone. Earlier in the season, Favre was scoring 2-4 TD's per game with short passes to his receivers inside the 20. Now, probably half of those will be run in by Gado. For your opponents, he is indeed a "Nightmare".In Gado We Trust.

I do. Starting him over SDavis and TJones. Don't like the D's each of those guys is playing...Besides, gives me something to watch on Monday night besides my kicker!!!

I just offered K. Collins and Kennison for Delhomme and Gado. Both Collins and Kennison will be riding the pine the rest of the way; while I should get a couple of starts out of Gado. I think his worth is approximately RB 20 going forward, with upside. He should get the touches = yards, but I don't expect TD's from him as GB tends to pass in the red zone. If I can get 85 combined yards from him with a TD every other week I'd be ecstatic. Expecting more will most likely lead to disappointment.

So far this year, Favre has 8 TD passes in the red zone with no ints.I'm happy Gado has worked out so far but why is everyone so high on him yet so many people were down on Green running behind that same offensive line and averaging the same YPC no to mention two fumbles last week.
