Gaffney (1 Viewer)

Bloom and Cecil think he's the #1 WR on the Bronco's and the staff project his season at

Bob Henry 0 0 0 63 797 12.7 3 98

Jason Wood 0 0 68 900 13.2 5 120

Maurile Tremblay 2 9 69 843 12.2 4 109

do you guys buy it?

I just dont see it. I see Royal having a bounce back year but hey im no expert...

He really exploded in Week 17 as the go to guy last year.

Eddie Royal's going to mostly be the inside slot guy and at best, he'd have to have a 90-950-7 type season to have a huge impact Fantasy Football wise. Demaryius Thomas has potential to be a good bet but he's a rookie coming in from Georgia Tech and has a bit of a steeper learning curve than most rookies receivers.

Gaffney's always had a solid YPR (12.5, 12.3, and 13.6 in 2009). The sticking point is that he's never been that go to guy, usually ending up in the WR2 role at best.

Marshall had 101 catches and he's now out of the picture. Even if Royal bounces back, I can't see him getting much more than 80-85 catches on the season and he'd be around 800-850 yards as a result.

I think Gaffney's upside is around 75 catches for 968 yards and 8 TD if he can stick as the go to receiver while Thomas develops a bit and Royal bounces back slightly but not to his rookie season levels. Both Moreno and Buckhalter at RB are gonna steal some catches.

Last Year (155 Catches)

- Marshall: 101 Catches

- Gaffney: 54 Catches

This Year (155 Catches)

- Eddie Royal: 80 Catches

- Jabar Gaffney: 75 Catches

The offense and the passing game should be improved with a year in the system. While Royal and Gaffney won't approach 100+ catches individually, I could see both of them becoming solid WR2/WR3 options in FF depending on the development of Thomas and Moreno as receivers.

While he will certainly be the #1 WR - it's hard to say what his numbers will look like. He produced fantastically as a starting WR in the last two games of the season.

vs. Philly 7 for 69 and 2 Tds

vs. KC 14 for 213

so 21 for 282 and 2 TDs starting. Throw in another 41 yard DPI penalty against KC and that's a hell of a game.

You can criticize him doing it against the Chiefs but statistically they were a top 10 team against #1 WRs according to FootballOutsiders... Although I do remember him doing a lot of damage in that game against Brandon Carr and not Brandon Flowers.

Gaffney and Orton have great chemistry so that's a plus, but Orton had great chemistry with Royal and the pre-season and it never seemed to translate. With Thomas, Decker, and perhaps a revived Royal, he may have more competition for targets as I'm sure McDaniels wants to move away from the offense totally relying on one guy.

I'm sure Gaffney will be undervalued in redraft leagues though, so he's certainly worth a pick.
