GAME 1 Has Arrived: The New England Patriots Vs. The Kansas City Chiefs (3 Viewers)

Really? I mean, Pats are elite, and it's weird to see them play pedestrian football, but the Chiefs have been one of the better teams in the AFC for the past three years. And it's week one, when teams are still settling into their groove.

Surprising, maybe, but not unheard of.

No team is unbeatable.
Most points and most yards ever against Bill Belichik in 23 years of coaching. No one saw this coming lol

Really great game, and great convo in this thread, gents -- made it that much more enjoyable.

GL with the rest of your fantasy week, and hope all the games this weekend are as entertaining (and with way less injuries).

Peace.

Garrapolo. But it hasn't all been on Brady. Edelman is a big loss and KC shut down Gronkowski.
Oh yeah. I am just having a little fun. Gotta enjoy this because it is rare.

But KC really stepped up. Losing Julian is like taking Tom’s security blanket away. Edelman is a vital piece. Tom loves him.

Nice game chiefs. Hunt and hill look like the real deal, defense looks awesome, hope for your sake Barry isnt seriously hurt.

Sucks to lose the first one but 4 swingy plays decided this game - the two bombs to hunt and hill, and the two 4th and inches stops.  The injuries worry me more than the loss, hope they don't lose Edelman Mitchell Hightower and amendola all by week 1.

maybe next time they adjust the defense a bit to stop doubling Kelce the whole time and maybe get someone to shadow Hunt?

Absolutely especially if you don't take the raiders or steelers into account
Steelers perhaps. Chiefs have been dumping on the Raiders for a couple years now. They're an ascending team but the Raiders won't beat the Patriots.

Problem for the Chiefs is that may have been the Battle of Chancellorsville - with Berry going down with Achilles.

Good thing KC fired the GM who drafted Hunt...And Hill...And Peters...
No... Veach and Reid were behind all these guys. Especially Mahomes. This isn't the Browns we're talking about. Chiefs are an upper-echelon managed team, they planned it all. Apparently Veach has been the engine behind it all for a while now.

Same can be said for the steelers if we're going off of past results.   Raiders are one of the favs to win the superbowl.

I was wondering what would happen this year with injuries and these first few games. It seems like the CBA and the lack of prep time really begins to affect these guys once they get in pressured, regular-season situations, but I'm arm chairing it, so I could be totally wrong.

Either I read it wrong or ESPN tweaked what they had posted. In any event, here is what they have up: Berry has what the Chiefs are calling a potentially torn Achilles Tendon.

One game is one game.....and it isn't like Andy Reid is a chump or KC is a dog team, but Brady looked flat as hell last night.

I'm sure it's already been said before on the thread.....but things worked out well for NE the last time they got their ### kicked by KC.

Did anyone else think that Gronk looked really slow last night?  I dont remember him being that sluggish before.
I'm guessing he was both rusty and tentative. He hasn't done much for months, and they more than likely treated him with kid gloves in training camp. There were some reports of him getting blown up in contact drills trying to block over the summer. I think they may have toned it down some for him after that.

Thanks should be interesting to watch the next few games to see how he does.  Another couple of outings like that and he may be the proverbial buy low.  Or he could be on the fast track down due to injury after injury.
