Whatever happened to Robb's army anyhow? I know his personal guard and a few of his warriors all got slain at the red wedding, but didn't he have this massive army? I guess they all returned to their respective castles? What if this is season is all about how Sansa becomes this hardened vengeful leader of these armies. They've said at least 10x now that "the north remembers". I can see Sansa leading an army against the Freys to get revenge for the red wedding.

Brienne still figures in the Sansa story...maybe killing Stannis after he sacks Winterfell as revenge for Renly.

Ah yah, I had forgotten about her. They're really painting Stannis into a good guy the last episodes he's been in, going back to last season when he stormed the wildling camp.

The fact that last time she was married, to Tyrion, they were ordered to consummate the marriage for one. There are plenty of examples where the wives are expected to obey and serve their Lords (husbands). I think you're still confusing the fiction with real life.

But they didn't and she was treated with respect. Most of the wedding nights we have seen haven't been this way. Just because the expectation is there to consummate, doesn't mean it is forced on the bride if she is not having it that night. I dont see many characters we know going down this route either.

I think Brienne takes out a Bolton, fulfilling her promise to protect Sansa. But yeah, it seems to be building up to an epic battle at Winterfell at the end of the season as Stannis and the Boltons duke it out as others swirl around too. Is Theon's sister still running around out there too?

Some background info that has been glossed over in the show:

At this point in the story Reek has completely lost his mind, and has no recollection of "Theon". There has to be something dramatic that causes him to snap out of the brainwashing that Ramsey has put him through.

In the story, the girl is a fake Arya, who nontheless knows Theon, and Theon plays a more active role in her wedding night "bliss" - required to get her moist for Ramsey.

In the show the scene was almost entirely focused on Theon for a reason - its the impact on him that has the chance to cause him to act, or to crawl back into his shell. His downfall has been traumatic, and it would take a trauma to bring him out of it.

I would have liked to see the backlash if they would have included that part of it.

My thoughts as well as I keep reading all the outrage. Imagine if that scene had played out the way GRRM actually wrote it. Remember, a lot of the characters are older on the screen than they are in the "things that don't exist" so they wouldn't violate child decency laws. Sansa, Margery, Tommen, Marcella (apparently), Arya, Joffery...all had a fews years added to their characters.

Now imagine a younger version of Arya in that scene.

Joffery, Tywin, Oberyn and The Hound were all memorable characters. Robb, Eddard, Robert Baratheon were quality characters. Even reduced role characters, Edmure Tully, BlackFish, Walder Frey, Lysa, Mance Rayder, Jeor Mormont....who had quality actors doing good jobs with the characters are more or less gone.

We are not talking about arranged marriages. Just about all of the marriages are arranged that we have seen. Sure it is the expectation that some sex will happen that night, but that does not equate to it being the law of the land to rape your wife like Ramsey did.

Combine that with the few characters I like doing boring stuff. Jamie had a great story going with his turnaround, now he is on a roadtrip fighting teenagers. Arya I am confident has a good end game, but so far I have found her training confusing and mostly meh. Littlefinger still interesting to me, and the Queen of Thorns always brings the goods.

Tyrion and Arya are my 2 favorite characters. Then Jon Snow. After that I don't know if I care enough about any other characters or story lines besised Sansa, Littlefinger and Cersei. Even Jamie at this point can die and I don't think I'd really care all that much.

Good point. I guess the rest would have been back at Riverrun. After the Freys took out Robb, i would assume they couldn't get back north easily since the Freys control that bridge and the Boltons are hanging around. I would think that means they are probably scattered around Riverrun somewhere.

The events of the Red Wedding effectively end the conflict between House Stark and House Lannister in a decisive victory for King ​Joffrey Baratheon and House Lannister. Not only was Robb Stark himself killed in the betrayal, but the entire Northern army that Robb Stark led to southern Westeros was also destroyed - save only for those forces of House Karstark which had earlier abandoned Robb to return home, and the forces of House Bolton which turned on the other Northern Houses. For his part in the betrayal, Lord Frey was granted the castle of Riverrun and promised Lannister protection from any northern retaliation. I get what you're saying about Drogo's lifestyle, but in this world it's pretty much everyone that is depicted as "bad"s lifestyle. Didn't the mountain rape Oberyns sister? Didn't Ramsey's dad just tell him the story about raping the villager that turned into his mom? Weren't those men about to rape Sansa before the Hound stepped in? They've pretty much shown that it's very much a part of this world. Didn't surprise me at all.

Sure, but for every example that you list in Westeros, there are a few characters we know that wouldn't do that. So it isn't the norm in Westeros except for #######s like Ramsey and outlaw bandits. Drogo's was the only culture depicted where that seemed to be part of the lifestyle.

we rewatched the first episode, where this happens. definitely more apart of the culture as KP says, and less violent when it actually does happen. drogo doesn't rip apart her clothes, he carefully undoes them. tearful resignation is the same for both women- but the drogo/dany scene gets cut before any screaming happens. the ripped clothes plus the screaming- plus knowing what we know of Ramsay- makes that one worse IMO.

I think the biggest difference is that they Drogo/Dany scene, and pretty much every other depiction of rape or violence or sex on the show, makes you feel a certain way about the characters or moved the story forward. The Ramsay/Sansa/Theon scene didn't do that at all, it was 100% gratuitous. Everyone already hates Ramsay and understands he's a sadistic monster. Everyone already feels terrible for Sansa and Theon. We even saw the dynamic at work between the three in the far better scene at the dinner table the previous week when Ramsay made Theon apologize to Sansa for "killing" her siblings.

Gratuitous material on TV and on this show is nothing new, but generally people are OK with it because we get that some people enjoy it. People like looking at boobs. People like looking at fake violence. But the idea of depicting a rape because you think the audience wants to see it is kind of disturbing.

Unless the scene serves to bring Theon and Sansa together in a united front against Ramsay. Theon is so buried deep inside Reek that it would take something like seeing the little girl he grew up with and thought of as a sister being terrorized by Ramsay for Theon to finally overcome his Reekness. The shared experience could also open a door for Sansa to be open to listening to Theon if he tells her that he didn't kill her brothers.

Just a theory.

Maybe that probably doesn't mean as much to Sansa at it did to bran (he obviously had more interactions with the boys training them to fight), it's still a pretty big offense. Can't imagine she'd just forgive him.

I saw this youtube that basically ran a laugh track along for the scenes leading up to the fight and then the Benny Hill chase music for the fight with it sped up a tad. Awesomeness.

Sand snakes in a land slide. I don't think there has been a scene outside of their two ones so far that I felt like I was watching a completely different show. Their scenes so far IMHO have been the weakest of the show so far. I wouldn't mind if we never saw them again.

I was willing to forgive the Sand Snake intro as falling flat but the fight was just ridiculous. Seriously- it is so out of place from the high quality of acting, directing, and production in every other part of this show. I mean, you have A1 stuff in the entire show and then you have this B roll crap with the Sand Snakes.

Walder will do whatever is in his best interest if pushed into it. He will sit at the twin towers (isnt that what the crossing is called? something like that) and do nothing. No way he comes up to the North to fight for Bolton. No way.

There is no common knowledge of how Ser Rodrik died. Only one that knows that could tell her is Theon.

Fair point about Walder. I guess if Bolton goes down, he would ditch the Lannisters and give Allegiance to Stannis, so as not to have to fight him?
