Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (5 Viewers)

Enjoying the marathon on HBO.  I still think one of the best moments in the whole series is when The Hound is delivering Arya to The Vail and the guard tells them that Lady Erryn is dead.  When Arya busts out laughing, it absolutely kills me every single time.  :lmao:

Great moment. My favorite involves the two of them as well. 

"if any more words come pouring out your #### mouth, I'm gonna have to eat every ####### chicken in this room."

Was watching that one last night as well.

The Battle of Castle Black is still one of the most amazing camera shots in the entire series - and this is a series replete with great camera work and visuals.

 
I really enjoyed watching the Red Wedding and Joffrey's death again.

The Red Wedding remains the most shocking/surprising/WTF  thing I have ever seen on TV.

For a non-book viewer that was absolutely shocking and devastating. Never saw that coming. Although Ned getting killed in Season 1 was also stunning. TV shows don't kill off their stars ever, much less in Season 1. When that happened you knew all bets were off with this show.

In retrospect, we should've known Ned wasn't going to last long. Sean Bean dies in everything. 

Arya's had some great arcs but her and The Hound together might be my favorite. Tough to pick that one or her and Tywin but I'm going with The Hound because that's when the blood lust began to rise.

i think Ned's death hit me more then the Red Wedding. I think by the time the Red Wedding came i knew what GOTs was bringing, but when they killed Ned it was really nuts. I think at the time too that there wasn't any show on TV that had the balls to do that. Their only popular actor/actress coming into the show, and they kill him off 1st season  :loco:

Agree plus due to the internet, I knew there was a thing called the Red Wedding and I knew it was going to be a shocking twist so all S3, I was kind of anticipating it. When Ned got killed in S1, I was like stunned. When Joff goes off script, I was like, whaaaaat? Then I was wondering who save the day at the last minute. Finally, I realized, they really are just going to kill Ned. This show gives 0 ####s.

Red Wedding is what took me from a viewer who really enjoyed the show to someone obsessed with it. After that episode I started seeking out everything I could.  In my mind, I was positive Rob was the star of the show moving forward, so that really threw me for a loop.

Ned had that effect on me.  I knew the show wasn't ####### around and nobody was safe at that point.  He was basically the face of the show for that 1st season.

Yeah I didn't start watching until season 2, and I think at that point I didn't outright know he was dead, but I had a hint that he wasn't around anymore.  I don't think I actually had it spoiled, but at some point a mention of Sean Bean never lasting long made the rounds.

this kills me.  

Nothing against you, I am sure you enjoyed it fine but I just can't see ever doing this.  To me this is akin to buying a book and not reading the first few chapters.

There were so many ways to have watched the first season before you started on the second but obviously water well under the bridge at this point.

I started late too. I don't like the fantasy genre, so I dismissed the show as that. Zombies, kings, dragons... no thanks. Then I got stuck crashing with my brother when season 4 started and everyone was obsessed with the show. I jumped in. Nothing else to do. Why not give it chance. I ended up digging it and catching up at some point. I don't think I'd have ever given the show a chance if I didn't just jump in at season 4 when the timing worked out. Everyone told me there was no way to jump in. I HAD TO start from the beginning. Well, that wasn't an option for me. I thought "I bet there's a backstory even before season 1" so what the #### is the difference. Let's give it a shot. Glad I did.

Ohhhhhh sorry. I get the confusion. I didn't skip it like not watch it, I just meant I didn't watch it live during the original airing. Sorry, it took me a minute to see what everyone was upset about. 

I didnt have HBO at the time until between season 1 and 2 - heard it was cool so screamed through season one in a few days leading up to season 2.  I did have an inkling as to what happened with Ned going into though just because you can't avoid the internet. I did watch everything and in order, though.
