Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (2 Viewers)

Interesting point.  I wonder if this is one of those details that might differ between the two sources.

"Tears have drown you" combined with "pale white throat" makes me keep coming back to Tears of Lys.  Interesting accompaniment to that is the fact that Lys is known for its production of two poisons: Tears of Lys and the strangler.  Not sure how valonqar fits into that, but it seems awfully coincidental.  Certainly not Jaime's style.  Would be Arya's.
Maybe Tyrion poisons her? Or the Dornish chick does it? That's her MO, right? Oh, and daggers in the chests of cripples.

Another point in favor of Arya - in the first Trailer - when it has Cersei's voiceover of enemy's to the south, west, north...the video cuts to Arya as the enemy from the north....

Enemies to the East - cut to shot of Unsullied
Enemies to the West - cut to shot of Euron's Fleet from the Iron Islands
Enemies to the South - cut to Dorne - someone sharpening a blade
Enemies to the North - cut to Arya on horseback...

Never posted in or read this thread but was bored so thought I'd just jump in and read a few pages as I've read all the books (yes, I know this is the TV thread) but watched very little of the TV show.  Question - has the TV show timeline caught up to the end of the books and/or passed it yet?  Some of the posts I'm reading have me :loco: although it's been a while since I read the books and maybe I just don't remember some things.

Last season was mostly (all?) new stuff.

I'd be surprised if it happens this season.  I have a hard time believing they'd resolve ALL the human adversaries this season and leave just the WW to work out next season.  If all the humans are pulling in one direction against the WW, what's left at the point they win or resolve things peacefully?  Giant kegger at Casterly Rock?  Seems unlikely.

It's more interesting if they work through both at the same time.  How do you make a treaty with/defeat one group adversary while not completely losing ground to your mortal mortal enemy?

Passed it

My expectations for this season:

Daenerys obviously lands in Westeros - looks like her Unsullied attack the Lannisters at Casterly Rock or Kings Landing - I am guessing Casterly Rock.  Similarly - we see the Dothraki engaged in a major battle in the field - presumably also with Lannister forces.  I think one of the shots shows Jamie and Bron behind the archers.  Interesting side story would be if Tyrion is riding the Dragon that is involved in that battle.

Littlefinger is still trying to control Sansa, who is probably going to end up running Winterfell - could see her playing Littlefinger in the end.

We see Yara and Theon engaged in a sea battle - presumably with Euron's fleet.

We see a smallish battle up North - involving Snow, the Wildings, and the Botherhood without Banners (and maybe a dragon...)

Bran makes it south to Winterfell (I assume that is the tree he is at in the 2nd trailer)  Arya probably makes it there as well, but probably does not stay.

We also saw what looks like Snow and Davos traveling to Dragonstone - presumably to enlist the help of Daenerys in the fight in the North.  So I would guess that she initially declines, and maybe has second thoughts later.

So - I think we see much of the human adversarial relationships resolved this season.  Maybe Cersei holds onto Kings Landing, or maybe she is killed before she has a chance to burn down the entire city.   We see skirmishes with the White Walkers - but not the major battle.  People will ride dragons into battle.  Dragons will kill people.  I think this sets up the final season to be about the final battle, and perhaps more on the background of the White Walkers - I am assuming there is a related story to how they came about, and why they were banished north of the Wall - so a portion of the final season could be about that - and maybe the bittersweet end is that the White Walkers were originally the good guys.

Interesting - I figured that fat ******* will never finish the books anwyay so I guess if the series wraps up and the book aren't concluded I'll go back and watch the series to get some closure.

Hurry the #### up fat man!

If one of those dragons goes down while fighting the white walkers, they better do something with the body or the white walkers are gonna resurrect themselves a zombie frost dragon from it.

I bet none of the major human conflict (dany/cersei/john) is resolved this season.

Cersei is ultimately going down for sure, but she is so money they will milk that cow to the bitter end.

Obviously one way they could stall that resolution would be for Daenerys to divert her forces from kicking Lannister ###, to go help Snow up north.  Leaving the Iron Throne for another day (season) - but if you assume that Dany and Dragons ultimately prevail against the White Walkers - any power "struggle" with Cersei would be anti-climatic, at best.

The show starts with the White Walkers, I imagine it ends with the White Walkers.

This does leave open the option that the White Walkers make it as far south as Kings Landing, killing Cersei along the way, before succumbing to Daenerys, Snow, Gendry, and Sam

Maybe that's why her throat is pale.  ZombieCersei

Or Cersei. Would love it if she 'wins' but ultimately there's nothing left. Her kingdom is ruined and everyone she ever loved is dead.
"They're all gone.  My children.  My brother.  My brother's engorged manmeat.

But I have my throne.  And, hey... what's that?  What a strange little Inn."

"M'lady.  Please, come inside.  I have some delicious kidney pies, and I'm sure I could find someplace warm for you to sleep."

After partaking of the most delicious food she'd eaten in years, the Queen's eyes lock with those of the chef.  They make passionate love on the table, and he never stops eating (not a euphemism) the entire time

*Cut away to a small wedding ceremony in King's Landing, where the only 100 survivors left in Westeros are making merry.  They haul the newlyweds off to their bedroom and wait like the little pervs they are to hear the stifled moans and screams of passion that can only mean consummation.*

As the party winds down, ships can be seen on the horizon.  They fly a banner with a broken sword.  As they make port, the mass of former sellswords and Meereenese pour into the city, slaughtering the remaining Westerosi citizens.  Finally, they reach the Red Keep.  As they attempt to break down the door, Cersei is wailing.  She has finally found true happiness with this wonderful man, and now it's going to end on the very night they wed.

As the door splinters and the Second Sons come pouring into the room, Daario wraps his hands around Cersei's neck, while the others grab her new husband and drag him out of the room.  As Cersei's body lies there limp, Daario confronts "the King" and asks him to answer for what has happened here.  Instead, our hero simply offers the men a loaf of his fresh baked bread.  Upon taking a bite, the men immediately bend a knee and proclaim, "LONG LIVE HOT PIE OF HOUSE LOMMY, FIRST OF HIS NAME, KING OF THE ANDALS, AND THE FIRST MEN, LORD OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, AND PROTECTOR/BAKER OF THE REALM!!"

I have been rooting for Cersei from S1, but lets face it, her kingdom is already ruined and I am not sure she even loves Jamie anymore so she is without anyone in this world. She is the only character still alive that has without a doubt already lost completely and utterly.

Eh, she can't lose enough.

I hope Sam dies when a pile of books collapses on him.   Or in any other way.  I just want him dead.
Sam is probably the only person I feel confident will surely make it to the end.

Bran's visions/walking through time are all about finding the history of the world and I think, most importantly, how the white walkers came to be. I don't think the walkers were banished north of the wall. I think the walkers must stay where it's cold. Bran the Builder decided to build a wall when winter had receded to keep the walkers there. The wildlings got caught north of that wall and have hated those that live south of it from that point on. The Night's Watch has it all wrong. They think the wall is to keep the Wildlings out. It's not. It's to keep the walkers out. The wildlings have become the enemy in their minds after generations of no walkers, but that is misguided.

Everyone is a little bored with Bran's arc, but he's the glue that holds this all together. He will find out about how the white walkers came to be and most important, how to stop them. Me thinks Bran will have to die to stop the walkers. There are some rumors that Bran is actually the king of the walkers. And Bran the Builder and a bunch of other people throughout the history of Westeros

Uh, bran already found out how the walkers came to be...

The Children of the Forrest created them to win their war against the first men. They showed it last year.

Yeah - I like Sam.  Maybe not the most glorious storyline - yet.  But, always nice to see an underdog make it to the top - and it seems that Samwell Tarley still has a big role to play in the future of the realm.
I realize I am probably being too cynical and cautious for these remaining episodes b/c of how many questions are left and how little time we have left.  I am cringing about Sam because I see him as going to the Citadel for a couple weeks, finding some ancient tome in that time that nobody else seemed to be able to find in centuries, and getting the info or weapon to Jon right at the end to save the day.

I realize there could be surprises for every character, but he really seems like an unneeded character right now because don't we know how the walkers came to be and how they are killed? Hell, that could be something that Bran could see is a couple seconds of flashback.   We don't need whiny Sam running around, IMO.  There are so many more interesting and more complicated characters to follow around.

Sam is a likable character, but it his scenes are so slooooooow.

More than once I have said to my TV during his scene "Move on to another story already!".

I don't think it's a matter of finding something nobody else could find in centuries. It's a matter of finding things  people forgot/ quit carrying about because they stopped believing in grumkins and snarks.

Do you think WW need the cold or do they bring the cold with them?

His scenes with Gilly are slow - the rest of it is okay. I have a feeling Sam is going to be the lynchpin of the story with the war against WW.

Yup. I like Sam too. Like Jon said, "I'm glad the end of the world is working out well for someone."

We know how to kill Walkers- dragon class, dragon fire, wildfire

We know why the Walkers came into existence. I wish we didn't. This came up in the movie thread, but I don't usually like when we get late into TV or a movie series and they feel the need to explain to where the evil force came from and why it's there. Who cares? That often takes the interest out of it. We don't even know why we are on this actual real planet, why do we need to know why the White Walkers came into existence in fantasy land?
