Maybe he told MeeraPretty sure Bran and Howland Reed are the only ones who know Jon's heritage. That was the whole point of Ned lying to everyone that Jon was Ned's ******* son.
Maybe. My main point was, I don't think Varys, or anyone else down in Dragonstone, knows who Jon's real parents are.Maybe he told Meera
I'm a bit fuzzy on the full backstory, but are all the other people who were present at Jon's birth have been accounted for in the present?Maybe. My main point was, I don't think Varys, or anyone else down in Dragonstone, knows who Jon's real parents are.
Stands played me in a movie? Suh-weet!!I started a rewatch of John Adams last week and was astonished to see Thomas Jefferson played by Stannis. I had forgotten he played TJ in that and it was kind of weird.
All dead. Howland Reed is the only one left alive who was at the Tower Of Joy when Lyanna died and handed Jon over to Ned. And in truth, we've never seen Howland Reed in the "present day" timeline of events on the show either. Meera and Jojen have never mentioned his death, so I assume he's still around.I'm a bit fuzzy on the full backstory, but are all the other people who were present at Jon's birth have been accounted for in the present?

Stannis is in a BBC/Canal+ show called The Tunnel - good show, season 2 on PBS right now.I started a rewatch of John Adams last week and was astonished to see Thomas Jefferson played by Stannis. I had forgotten he played TJ in that and it was kind of weird.
the girl carrying bran around is howler's daughter, right?Speaking of, it's pretty crazy that Reed has gotten zero treatment in this story beyond a few mentions and a flashback. The Reeds are like the forgotten banner men of the Starks - you'd have thought at some point someone might have wanted to get in touch with them to see if they might want to help out somewhere. Their lands have been virtually untouched throughout all the mayhem, they probably have some manpower to give. I wonder if they get drawn in to fight against the zombies.
Yes, she's Howland Reed's daughter (though there's been some speculation about that out in the nerdverse as well).the girl carrying bran around is howler's daughter, right?
no memory of who the dad is and how he relates to the story.
thanks.Yes, she's Howland Reed's daughter (though there's been some speculation about that out in the nerdverse as well).
In the show, Howland Reed is the guy who stabbed Arthur Dayne in the back while young Ned was fighting him outside the Tower Of Joy in one of Bran's flashbacks last season. He's also the head of House Reed, who are banner men to the Starks and control the land around the Neck (the narrow point leading to the North) in Westeros.
I'm going through season 1 on Amazon Prime right now - pretty solid. Check out the American version, which aired on FX (The Bridge, same name as the original Danish/Swedish version) if you haven't already. Set in El Paso/Juarez.Stannis is in a BBC/Canal+ show called The Tunnel - good show, season 2 on PBS right now.
we watched the bridge when it first aired- agree, it was good (other than the barely functional autistic detective chick).I'm going through season 1 on Amazon Prime right now - pretty solid. There is enough of a difference to make it worthwhile in my opinion, but I have only seen the first four episodes of The Tunnel. There are certain things that obviously won't be a surprise if you've watched The Bridge but I like Dillane (and his character) a lot and enjoy these types of shows (Trapped, The Fall, Broadchurch, Happy Valley, etc.) in general. I like seeing it all unfold, it doesn't bother me that I already know the broad strokes. I also think it will be worth it since season 2 should be completely different than season 2 of The Bridge. Personally I liked season 2 of The Bridge more than season 1 and was disappointed it got canned.we watched the bridge when it first aired- agree, it was good (other than the barely functional autistic detective chick).
started watching the tunnel and got through most of the first episode before we realized it was the same story. we stopped- even though it all looked good- because we'd already seen it. do you think it was different enough to warrant a watch?
watching trapped now... enjoying it. and similar to fortitude, which I'd recommend if you haven't seen it.There is enough of a difference to make it worthwhile in my opinion, but I have only seen the first four episodes of The Tunnel. Clemence Poesy does a better job of playing that role than Diane Kruger did. It's much more subtle in The Tunnel, at least so far.
There's at least one fan theory out there (this is people speculating, not anything found in those things composed of paper pages) thatthanks.
fwiw- when bran and the girl get to the wall, she introduces herself as howland reed's daughter. is the speculation that she's lying?
Good list but Shae and Margery could be improved IMO. That skinny girl the Bolton ******* was sleeping with maybe? There is an amazing brothel girl in S1 that flashes Jory. The redheaded prostitute from the first couple seasons. The girl Robb married that got him killed.

They brought this up on Binge Mode this week, but it's weird how there's been no appearance by Howland Reed at all (in the show or books). He obviously cares enough about Bran to send his kids to help him, and presumably he's got some attachment to Jon as well having fought an epic battle to retrieve him at the Tower of Joy. Wonder if they are going to roll him out for a dramatic reveal at some point.Yes, she's Howland Reed's daughter (though there's been some speculation about that out in the nerdverse as well).

Maybe he is alive and is the one that confirms snows lineage?Do we even know if he's alive?
Possibly but I think there will be tension initially between Dany and Jon. Ultimately I think they end up working together and maybe more but I think it may get off to a rocky start. Especially if Dany continues to try and exert her authority over Jon.I think y'all might be making too much of her "bend the knee" comment. If she claims to be ruler of the 7 kingdoms by birthright, its only normal for her to demand a pledge of loyalty from anyone purporting to be a "king" of one of the 7. That said, I don't expect Snow to agree, unless its part of a quid pro of some sort. I guess we'll see how it goes this weekend.
I do think the Dragonstone throne looks pretty cool. They've done a great job with Dragonstone in general imo.
I posted that in this thread last week. It seems likely he knows Jon's true parentage and he was one of Ned's closest friends and allies and his children are connected to Bran. It would make sense for him to show up at some point. They brought this up on Binge Mode this week, but it's weird how there's been no appearance by Howland Reed at all (in the show or books). Agree. I think Jon and Davos walk away disappointed. Dany has her own agenda right now. Eventually they'll reconnect though.packersfan said:Possibly but I think there will be tension initially between Dany and Jon. Definitely could see that happening. They're fighting separate wars. When Dany's ends, assuming she wins, that's when her and Jon could re-connect.Agree. I think Jon and Davos walk away disappointed. Dany has her own agenda right now. Eventually they'll reconnect though.
Is she related to the guy with scales all over his body? At least until Sam cut them off.Lyanna Mormont is the lead on a kids Netflix show called The Worst Witch. Kind of Harry Potter lite, my 7 yo digs it.

She (Meera) is actually Jon's sister and not Howland Reed's daughter at all, that he took her and raised her as his own just like Ned did with Jon. I don't buy it myself for various reasons. Too Star Wars rip offy for one. It also seems like she's not the right age to be Jon's twin for another. But the people posing the theory note that she looks more like Jon (and Arya) than she does a Reed. You can find more about this hypothesis via googling if you're really interested.
I would actually like to see this happen. Wrap up Westros campaign this season and be done with it, focus on White Walkers next season as the ultimate showdown.Definitely could see that happening. They're fighting separate wars. When Dany's ends, assuming she wins, that's when her and Jon could re-connect.
I started reading the theory and stopped. I don't know one way or the other, but I do know some people have been passing off "theories" when in reality there have been things leaked and I'd rather not find stuff out. The first sentence of that doesn't make sense to me because I'm assuming Bran would know something like that at this point (and it doesn't make sense from a practical standpoint), but regardless I'd be careful about "predictions" moving forward. That's stupid
Probably - and you would think we would have seen two babies in the scene where Lyana dies - instead one kid is given to Ned.That's stupid

Dude, I was just cautioning that people are floating predictions around the web that are leaked spoilers.Dude it's pretty simple - have some self restraint and don't click that spoilers button if you don't want spoilers
For what its worth, I think that theory has been out there for several years - pre-dating any story lines that were written for this season or the next.I started reading the theory and stopped. enough talk about your stupid other shows. Thanks. My 6 yo loves it

And Lyanna's mother fought with Rob in the battle of the 5 kings. It's not just the men of bear island that kick ###!Greyscale guy (Jorah) is Jeor Mormont's son and Lyanna's uncle. If you recall, Jeor was the old Night Watch Lord Commander who picked Jon Snow as his steward. Lyanna's mother, the previous head of House of Mormont, was Jorah's sister.
Could it be a kingdom of ashes? He's king of Westeros but there's nothing left?I think the closing scene of the series will be Tyrion on the Iron Throne...fade to black.

Interesting. So basically, the big hole in all this comes from GRRM writing things in first person and can't do so with Howland as there is no way to write it without revealing too much.Readers of those things that don't exist have been wondering this for a long time.
They touched on it in the show, but Jojen Reed could see the future and there are suppositions that Howland Reed may have special powers like Jojen or Bran as well. Instead of stabbing Ser Arthur Dayne in the back like they did it on the show, it is speculated that Howland Reed actually warged into his mind like Bran would do with Hodor. The author of the things that don't exist said years ago that he would never write a Howland Reed point of view chapter in the books because Howland Reed knows too much. However, GRRM has confirmed that Howland "will appear eventually."
Correct, although now that the cat is out of the bag on Jon Snow's real parentage this may not be the case anymore. I think those quotes about Reed are from before the 4th or 5th things that don't exist were even written and before the show was even being thought about, so we are talking like 10~15 years ago back when people were only guessing or had wild theories.Interesting. So basically, the big hole in all this comes from GRRM writing things in first person and can't do so with Howland as there is no way to write it without revealing too much.
