Game Thread - Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers (1 Viewer)

If I'm a Ravens fan I'm screaming right now. You have to be ENGAGED to have a chop block. The RB never even TOUCHED HIM, let alone engaged him. (NOt to mention the defensive player was airborne of his own volition).HORRIBLE call.
Went airborne to miss the cut block, correct call.

What part of ENGAGED apparently applies??? And what (successful) cut block happens with the RB laying down 2 yards ahead of the blitz?Sorry....still a bad call.

Fire Mike Tomlin.
Anyone else get the feeling that Tomlin has that "deer in the headlights" look? When they are blitzing, you beat it with three step drops and quick slants. Haven't seen Pitt run any of those.
No adjustments last week, no fullback, not enough attention to the o-line, doesn't believe its "his job" to fire up the players, not sure the o-line coach knows what he's doing, not sure Tomlin is really committed to DL's defense, horrible game management in the playoff game last year. I appreciate that he is great to talk to, but I'm not convinced that he knows what he's doing. But most importantly 1-3 against playoff teams, 3-6 on the road and 3 losses to sub .500 teams. The only good team we have beat since he got here is Seattle last year. Maybe he'll be ok, but I think its 50-50 he runs the franchise into the ground.

Pretty disappointing for the Ratbirds as they got the kind of defensive effort and low scoring game they needed to have a chance to steal one in Pittsburgh, which they don't do very often. Seems like the pass blocking still needs some serious work; Harrison pretty much dominated his side of the line, again.

Still, they came back after the third quarter meltdown and while they've done that in the past, there's a poise about Flacco that makes you think that it's not a fluke anymore when they do it. They're not good enough offensively to blow anybody out and there will be no easy games this year. But I can see them coming out with a couple of close wins that they may not have gotten last year and there's finally hope in the future.

Kudos to Ben who, after struggling horribly in the first half, was the most dangerous player on the field in the second. As in other games with the Ravens, his ability to shake off the first wave of the pass rush allows him to make plays that just breaks a defense's back.

an ugly win is still a win. i, for one, doubted the steelers heavily.

i don't think this division deserves any representation in the postseason. some fundamental problems across the entire AFC North. scrap the whole shebang. oh, and fire arians while you're at it. he is horrible.

Agreed, as did I. They looked terrible on offense most of the game. And still had too many defensive breakdowns on third and long, as has been a problem for them for what seems like an eternity. They keep the heat on Flacco the entire 4th quarter instead of peeling it back for a few plays and that game never gets to OT.Injuries are mounting now, as well. With that schedule they're going to be lucky to finish 8-8 at this rate. And lucky to not get Roethlisberger decapitated if the OL isn't given a swift kick NOW.

I saw very little of the game, but am both disappointed & heartened at the way the game played out.

I know it's a "duh" statement, but the Ravens aren't good enough to have costly turnovers against a good team like Pittsburgh & win. They also have to find a way to score TDs more often in the Red Zone. 20 yd FGs are death.

On the other hand, they battled all night & had a chance to win in the most hostile enviroment they'll face all year.

Tennessee's up next here (I'll be there :hifive: ) - a huge game for the Birds. Whichever team gets to double-digits will win. Bet the under.
