Game Thread -Divisionals-Pittsburgh V Indianapolis (1 Viewer)

Anyone care to predict the final score? The way this game has gone, I think Indy makes a comeback, but the Steelers hold on to win 20-17. Indy has just done very little to make me think they will win. If they had scored a touchdown on that last drive, maybe, but they did not.

They shouldn't get a flag..... That's like 4 calls that went Pitstains way, no facemask, ended up in a touchdown, no pass interference that ended up in a punt from Indy, and no holding or pass interference at leats 2 other times committed by Pittstain...What a joke! This game has been tainted, typical Pittstain fashion... pffffftttt :confused:

Colts played like ### the first quarter. They really need to run the no-huddle at some point in the 2nd half too.

34-31 Indy in OT. Ben throws a key pick in the waning stages of the 4th quarter (on a 3rd and long) and it allows Manning and co. to come back and score the tying TD.
 
Does the NFL ever wonder if it is wrong that at 3rd and goal at the 1, the offense gets a 5 yard penalty and then the def gets a 5 yard penalty that it is goofy to be 3rd and goal at the 3?

If the offense is inside their own 20 then it's half the distance to their own goal. It's fair.

The Manning brothers are great stat whores who choke in big games, Big Dan must be proud... Maybe Danny boy was over at Ms. Mannings house when Archie was away...

Unless he had played one of those guys and they had been injured. Then Dungy would be blamed for taking risks, guy.
 
In the first matchup, Ben threw an INT in the final 30 seconds of the first half that gave Indy 3 points.

I'll take a 14-3 halftime lead and be happy with it.

The first matchup wasn't quite as important as this one.If you're afraid to throw an INT in the playoffs, then you shouldn't be playing.

I have a feeling that Pittsburgh will regret this decision come the 4th quarter.

I disagree. I consider it smart coaching. They're on the road as nearly double digit underdogs with a double digit lead. They've done a great job of taking the crowd out of the game to an extent. No reason whatsoever to risk that momentum.If the Steelers are going to win this game, they're going to need to get Bettis involved in the running game.

That's certainly a big part of it, but the calls in this game are pathetic, agree or not... And sure, Indy got a few in the 2nd Q, but the damage was already done in the first with the non calls on Pit, hard to come back from those critical types of calls. Even the announcers called it at the half...If you're calling a critical playoff game, everything should be called, period.

I can't believe that Indy is going to lie down and roll over. They are a great team. They'll make adjustments. An 11 point lead is not prohibitive for such a prolific team. At the same time, I think the Steelers will also make some adjustments. I'm a huge Steelers fan and I love the game they've played so far, but this is far from over.

If time is waning in the 4th quarter, Big Ben won't be throwing very much.
 
I agree... Pitt did try to throw a couple of times on the drive, and didn't get anything big. Chances of making up 50 yards in 48 seconds are pretty remote, given the D is just dropping back. Taking a knee is not a bad idea.

Huh?Didn't the Colts rest their players in week 17 last year and then blow out the Broncos in the playoffs? What should they have learned from last year?

The Eagles rested their players for a full month, and then went to the SB.

 
I'm still trying to figure out why Denver fans want to play Pitt. outside of the obvious homefield advantage....The Steelers are one of the most impressive road teams this year if not the best........

Haven't read the first 300+ posts in this thread, but did anyone mention how the Steelers set out to copycat what the Chargers did to shut Manning & Co. down?Saw a show the other day (hosted by Jaws, maybe?) where they detailed how the Chargers confused Manning by staying in a 3-3-5 most of the day, and walked one of the LBs up to the line of scrimmage to create pressure.I haven't watched Pitt's defense closely today. Are they doing something like that?

A road game against a team that has blown out the Broncos the last two years in the playoffs has a little to do with it. Pittsburgh looks great right now, though. If they win today and come to Denver next week, they will be a very difficult opponent.
