I didn't see the replay, but was there a view from behind? One that might have shown the ball come loose as he hit the ground before he rolled and got up?OtherwiseThis really is a sad day for football.. and I WAS rooting for The Colts.
But come on.
The guy catches the ball, with 2 feet on the ground, falls down, so now the knee and the butt and the other knee hit the ground and throughout all of this he controls the ball.
But because he tried to get up and run it's incomplete![]()

Could be the biggest disgrace in NFL History if The Colts go on to win this game.

You don't think it would be a sad day for the NFL if The Colts go on to win this??
on the League.Come on Pit, go for it...... 4th and WHAT?!?!?well if you heard it in an Internet chat forum then it must be trueI heard it in another forum![]()
True. It depends. But, if Indy wins, I see this as even worse. That INT sealed it up for Pitt. And, I sorta' root for Indy. But, this was so absurd.I think this play may be as big as the Pats/Raiders tuck rule call depending on how this game plays out.
Championship teams recover from bad calls so this should be nothing for the Steelers

If he picks one off he should take a knee.Of all people - Harper breaks up the pass.
I can't believe this ####.
Please.... enough with the crying...What good is replay if this is what it leads to?
nonono...he caught it...he was cradling it....He had a firm grip on that ball even to the point where he was rolling on his back with it. He simply hit it out of his own hand with his knee while coming back up (thats how it looked to me anyway). Therefore, Im assuming that the ref's call was not based on possession of the football (I hope)I didn't see the replay, but was there a view from behind? One that might have shown the ball come loose as he hit the ground before he rolled and got up?OtherwiseThis really is a sad day for football.. and I WAS rooting for The Colts.

Talk about aon the League.
Nope, all shots showed the ball never moved till he tried to get back up and his knee hit it out. Really has me confused on what is "having control with two knees, a couple feet and your butt on the ground" means now.I didn't see the replay, but was there a view from behind? One that might have shown the ball come loose as he hit the ground before he rolled and got up?OtherwiseThis really is a sad day for football.. and I WAS rooting for The Colts.

There was a play for a Td that was overturned in week 16 or 17 that was the exact same thing. The guy caught the ball & went to the turf, but when he came back up he lost the ball. The announcers of that game actually called it correct & sighted the rule that if the player didn't have control when he got back up it was incomplete. The refs then reviewed it & called it the exact same way. I can't remember the game, but it was the first time I had ever seen this type ruling. This one didn't suprise me, it was the same exact deal.Could someone even explain what the reasoning was to overturn that? And the poor officiating beat goes on. This has been an absolutely pathetic year for the officiating.
It would be funny if Manning leads them in FG range and the idiot kicker misses it.
I am not a fan of either team, but of the NFL.This type of officiating WILL have an effect on how the league is viewed.]I can't believe this ####.Please.... enough with the crying...What good is replay if this is what it leads to?
As Earl Hickey would say, "That would be karma."It would be funny if Manning leads them in FG range and the idiot kicker misses it.

Well it would be for me. I've heard plenty of people question the legitimacy of the league after the "tuck rule". This will just add fuel to their fire and I see no way to counter their argument if The Colts go on to win.No, it wouldn't be sad.Sad, sad day.:(

I'm a firm believer in karma... with that call being so obviously bad Pitt should get a turn over at some point on this seriess or karma was working for Indy today and the bad call was karma's handywork.

Are you related to the ref? That is about as clear as his explanation.I'm a firm believer in karma... with that call being so obviously bad Pitt should get a turn over at some point on this seriess or karma was working for Indy today and the bad call was karma's handywork.
I'm going to say the same thing I said about the Raiders in 2001 and to a lesser extent the Patriots yesterday - I don't care if it was a bad call, if you give up back to back scores here, you lost the game.
Official Excuses/Venting Thread >Is this really in the rulebook?
