Game Thread W1 - Carolina at Arizona (1 Viewer)

In tim's defense, Carolina is bad, but you can't discount the possibility of a big, explosive back, getting a bunch of carries on a good offense in a weak division being a top 10 back.

Biggest shocker of the week is how composed Newton looks in the pocket. Stands strong and throws a great ball.

Amazing. Two big plays in this game involving Newton and Smith.

It feels like Arizona should be way ahead- they have been dominating. But on the last two possessions they had the ball within the 5 yard line and have 0 points.

Cam looks better then advertised. We might be watching one of the most impressive rookie qb debuts ever.

Total poise and throwing strikes in the pocket and on the run. The wrs have dropped a few but cam is on point.

Man, kicking myself for not starting Steve Smith now. Won't happen a whole lot more. Jacoby Ford will still outscore him, right?

With Cam's big arm, I was really hoping that Smith would put up some big numbers on long passes. Looks like that's going to happen. Loving it. SS could end up being a high #2 or a #1 WR again this year and at the value of a #4 or #5 WR.

I put a lot of faith in D-Will this season, because I thought that big contract was a sign of something.

Makes no sense to me!!

USE HIM

UGGH

Thought I got lucky when my opponent benched Tampa Mike for Carolina Steve...oof

This will probably be his only good game all year...until I play that team again.

WOW...Steve Smith having a career day...120+, 2TDs in the 1st half.
Smith has had a number of days like this, but I love seeing it again. By the way Newton has a 151.4 passer rating through the first half.

Another fine pass by Newton. This time on a 3rd and 9. This is one of the better performances I can ever remember by a rookie QB in his first game. And I was one of those who figured he would be terrible.

ETA- and just as I wrote that, he threw an interception into double coverage.

Kolb looking fairly good too. (That throw was no biggie...but escaping the pressure to even attempt the throw was)

Cam redeeming himself here in this drive. Nice to see him bounce back from that horrible INT. Hopefully, they can finish it off here.

I guess we know who CAR's goal-line back is this year.

Doesn't seem smart to be sending Newton over the pile. Hopefully, it's just to get him some confidence early and not a habit.
