Game Thread W1 - Dallas V Jacksonville (1 Viewer)

here are some thoughts from the game

1. barber had a huge pickup on 4th and 1, though his blitz pick ups were somewhere between horrible and awful

2. julius looked good running the ball against a tough D

3. bledsoe looked horrible after the first drive, couldnt get anything going, coupled with point 4 meant for a long day

4. flozell adams played like crap, ya hes hurt but there is no excuse for letting guys run by you on the outside whenever they want.. especially when your qb is bledsoe

5. stupid penalties are going to happen but 2 - 15 yard face masks, a big roughing the passer penalty and a bunch of offensive pass interference penalties are awful.

the dallas D didnt look as good as advertised, matt jones played great and will be a star but you have got to be able to slow him down..

end rant

julius still runs real fast right into a few guys. The guy is not a bulldozer like some other backs, accept it and put a move on or bolt to the sideline. Always drove me nuts watching him. He's got tons of talent, bugs me.In Bledsoe's defense, at one point I replied to a post here and the WRs only had 5 catches. I'm not a fan of expecting someone to "turn it on" when you haven't used him much all day. I really really didn't like the Boys passing game today. Even when Bledsoe had time I thought the routes and plays were quite boring almost like a HS offense. For his career, Bledsoe regularly starts strong. I think FF folks will regret it if they get down on him for FF. IIRC He's got a few 4 TD games in September over the years

I don't know if it's been covered here, but why did Dallas dump the running game? They were up 10-0 early and their running stats seem decent (4.0 per carry) but the 22 total carries seems very un-Parcells like.

I think trying to develop a killer instinct and put them away. Backfired but, that'd be my guess

Bledsoe looking like a fool in this half
Bledsoe is having some back problems, that's what they're saying here locally on the Cowboy station. They were saying as early as the third quarter that the trainers were trying to loosen it up.
This just sounds like The Tuna laying the groundwork on his excuse for benching Bledsoe and starting Romo soon.
:rolleyes:Between drives in the 2nd half, Bledsoe was throwing warmup passes on the sideline (which he doesn't ever do) and was visibly grimacing. Your tin hat theories may be fun to kick around, but there's nothing backing it up.

Leftwich is underated as far as an NFL player and fantasy as well. He is such a competitor and barring injury he is going to have a top 10 QB year. He has great weapons at WR and a defense that gets him the ball back.Del Rio has done a great job and the Jaguars are on the right track to becoming an elite team.
i think you're overstating things a bit... their offense looked pathetic for most of the game...and they still don't have much of an identity on that side of the ball.their defense is top-notch though.

My thoughts:

- The inability of the offense to move the ball lost the game for Dallas. The defense played steller throughout the first half and tired in the second half because of consistent poor play by the offense.

- Drew Bledsoe continues to misread coverages, and it costs his team.

- Julius Jones still looks indecisive before he reaches the line of scrimmage.

- Wilford and Jones are going to punish people this year with their size and athletic ability despite their rawness.

- Teams will continue to speed rush the outside of Dallas's offensive line to the 7-step drop point. Bledsoe looked oblivious to this today and unfortunately it disrupted the passing game something awful.

- Reggie Williams interfered on his TD catch. I guess the refs feel that pulling your defender down is OK, but a push-off (Witten) to establish position is illegal.

That's all I have for now. I'll probably think of a few more things tomorrow.

Yikes! They just showed the Jaguars cheerleaders in the post-game show. That was sad. Is that really the best that North Florida has to offer?
Yea, the 'Boys get spanked an the best comback you have is dissing the chearleaders!!! :nerd:
It's not a comeback. I am hardly a Cowboys fan. It just happened to be on the TV, so I watched it.Haven't you got something better to do than display your ###?

I think its because the team is built to pass a lot. For the running game I saw the Te's doing a lot of trapping inside although ushualy not very effectivly. Jones looked good from the begining of this game. He may of played extensivly because of this or by design. I'm not sure on that yet. The Oline played better than I expected early on but the Jaguars were still blowing them up and getting penetration. I think as the game went on the Jaguars defensive line wore the Oline down and they were getting more pressure against the pass blocking 2nd Quarter on than they were in the 1st Quarter. So this may have been part of the play calling as well. The pass blocking looked more effective than the run blocking to me.

Well, who knows if that's the case. But what I'm seeing is classic Bledsoe in that he got hit a few times in this game, has been throwing off of his back foot especially when under pressure, and his accuracy is off resulting in incompletions and INT's. If his back was causing this performance, it makes you wonder why they didn't put Romo in there.
Kuddos Redman! I just posted the same thing in another thread. Its the game within the game....the guy just TOTALLY lost his throwing technique after the fist quarter! His plant foot looked horrible! How could Tuna not see that, or better yet, the media totally missed it....no one called out his awful technique today. I didn't even think the line played bad (well...Flo was atrocious). Bledsoe...u shoulder this one alone.
