Game Thread W10 - Washington V Tampa Bay (1 Viewer)

You don't want it to come down to that. It was pretty obvious in the replay they showed on TV. Apparently the ref was looking at different replays.TB should send those refs a Thank You letter. That was atrocious.

this makes tomorrows game even biggerif dallas wins it they share first with the giants and are a game up on wash.if they lose - its a f'n mess!

If they had said that Alstott didn't make it in originally, then they wouldn't have been able to overturn that either. It had to be tough to see without the replay.

Like reggi brown's (PHI) catch last week where he was on his back, waraped the ball around his leg and caught itandy reid scareming at him ... "are you sure? you want me to challange it? this is my last one"

What ever the call on the field is ... is what is upheld!

If they had said that Alstott didn't make it in originally, then they wouldn't have been able to overturn that either. It had to be tough to see without the replay.

That was a catch and this wasn't a conversion. Instant replay perplexes me. The call on the field almost always stands even if the replay shows it shouldn't. If they are going to take the time to do it then get the call right regardless of what was called on the field
 
Gotta love coaches who play to win rather than not to lose. Have never been a big fan of Chucky, but he just went way up the likability scale there!Great game, probably the best one I've seen this season. :thumbup:

:thumbup: Apparently, helmet = football. The elbow of the arm that was holding the ball clearly came down well short of the goalline. He was holding the ball into his body and not extended out so if his elbow didn't make it in, the ball doesn't either.

Screw it up once, shame on me...screw it up twice, shame on you.

The entire scenario could've been avoided if the Washington defense had stepped up and prevented a TD when it really mattered. I blame the Washington D in this one.Not only giving up the TD, but going offsides on the XP kick which made the 2 pt conversion a reasonable alternative.

They did step up and stop the 2 point conversion. :shrug:
 
There was a lot more evidence that Alstott was short than there was for Pollard being out-of-bounds in week 4.That's twice now that the refs have saved Tampa's butts.

 
Best game I've seen all year, and just a painful loss for us Skins fans.If they hadn't turned it over 3 times in the first half............If they hadn't blocked that extra point...............If they hadn't tried 4 long pass plays on that last sequence............If there had been a clearer camera angle on Alstott's 2-pt. conversion...........If, if, if...............................Hats off to Tampa Bay. That was a hell of a game.

 
Oh, I've already yelled my choice words at the D. Inexcusable to get a delay of game penalty and an offsides on the extra point try. That, and Walt Harris is the worst CB in football bar none. He should never be allowed to man up anyone other than Javon Walker right now - and I think he'd even struggle with that assignment.

The irony being, Springs was blitzing on that play and was a non factor.

That's how I was feeling after that KC/Raider game last week. Great game, but it way sucked to lose, especially in the last few seconds. :no:

If Portis had gotten the same benefit on the play where he was "stopped" for 4th down as Alstott got on the 2pt conversion . . . Total yards ended up pretty much identical, so I can't complain too much. No team "deserved" to win more than the other, and the officiating generally evens out. I did think the crew was inconsistent on those 2 short yardage plays, but it's not as if Fox even showed a replay of Portis' run. I thought he might have made it after contact.

Gregg Williams is having to work with mirrors this year, and TB had the personnel to expolit that.

 
Simms seemed to operate under little pressure. If I had to identify the main problem with the Redskins defense this year, it would be not pressuring the QB. That's why they have recovered so few turnovers.

That was the same officials that let Bett's TD KO return stand when the replays clearly showed he was out of bounds not once, but TWICE!Both teams got screwed by the officials in the game. In the end though, you're looking at probably the game of the year. Hats off to both teams.

Absolutely. Compared to Tampa Bay's recent games, Simms had all day to throw. I was very surprised by that.He did have a few passes batted down at the line of scrimmage, but maybe that's because the linemen weren't getting upfield and just put their hands up instead? I'm not sure, but it seemed like the Skins weren't getting any pressure unless they brought 6 or more. That's one reason the Bucs were able to get a lot of downfield passes. (I'm guessing if Taylor had been playing it would have helped, also.)

because, when they showed the replay, we could all see the ball hit the ground, and then see that the ball was loose after he bounced.that's how.
