Game Thread W12 - Pittsburgh V Baltimore (1 Viewer)

Why wouldn't Arians call a bootleg pass/run option? Because he is a moron that is why.
Probably because they don't have anyone behind Dixon other than Palko, who hasn't even had a full week on the practice squad yet.
Yeah but 3rd and 5, or even 6, 7, 8...it appeared to me Dixon was the fastest guy on the field. He could easily have run for a lot more yards vs the Raven blitzes. We had a slim chance coming into the game, had Dixon gone down, no big deal. At least, IMO, the Steelers now have a QB2 going forward, Ben gets beat on every week, so its good to know. We had been rolling the dice most of the 4thQ and OT with Dixon's decision making, I would have loved to seen him run a bootleg instead of the drop back pass that was the INT.Tough game, tough opponent, tough loss. But now we need to win out(11-5), get healthy(Ben, Troy, Kemo). We had 3 cannons on the sideline and took the Ravens to OT in their house. We are down, but not out.Ravens still have to come to Heinz Field.

That sucks.

But I still can't say that I'm disappointed in tonight's game. Dixon's played well tonight for a guy who was a 5th round pick and had 1 pass attempt before tonight.

They took the Ravens to OT on the road without Ben, Kemo, Polamalu, and and Smith.

It'll be a big win for the Ravens if they can finish it off.
If Cundiff can't make this one, he should be looking for a gig before the Ravens get back to the bench.

Call us when Minnesota wins 6 Lombardis...on second thought, call us when they win one.
When the viks win 6 Lombardi's then you can talk smack.
Hey I think you guys read the same comeback book.
Unfortunately for you, you have no comeback. ;) ;)
None is necessary when there is :boxing:
You better get to bed. Kindergarten comes pretty early in the morning.

Congrats to Baltimore fans.

You've got a hell of a RB and a great HC.

Better team won this game tonight.

Week 16 should be fun.

I thought that was a real gutsy performance by the Stillers last night. Taking that game into OT with the personnel they had on the sideline was a measure of what a tough out they're still gonna be. If the Ravens hadn't won with the advantages they had, then they never will. When these two teams play again, a healthy Roethlisberger should put them over the top -- the difference at QB and those playmaking WRs should be enough.

The Flacco slump and the line's all too frequent pass protection miscues forecast continuing problems for Baltimore. It's still looking like 9-7 from here.

This loss was on the Steelers D. 3rd and 22 should have been the end of the game.
Agreed. The secondary is very average without Troy back there. Gay has been disappointing.
I think you are being very generous. Gay is awful, Clark is a huge hitter but frequently blows coverage and Carter is a backup. Ike is decent in coverage but couldn't make an interception if it was underhanded to him. I swear my mother has better hands. During training camp I thought signing Clark was a priority -- now not so much.Overall I thought the team played well considering the players that were out. Still it is very disappointing to see the Steelers defense blow a 4th quarter lead again. I also think they should have called more bootlegs and rollouts for Dixon. The Steelers have now dropped three in a row but if they beat Oakland at home and the Browns on the road they'll be sitting 8-5 and have a long week to get ready for Green Bay at home. Things look bleak but they are still very much in the thick of it.

I don't see why the Stillers can't run the table the rest of the regular season. They get their two most difficult opponents at home and also play three unmotivated, out-of-it teams.

The Steelers now sit at 6-5 but are very much in the thick of the wildcard race. Denver is one game up but will not go undefeated the rest of the way. Baltimore and Jax has the same record and there are a number of teams at 5-6. With the Steelers schedule, I think they can realistically win 4 out of the next 5 games. That should be enough to get them in. They came within a hair of beating the Ravens on the road with a 3rd string qb who has never started an NFL game. The main reason they ultimately lost that game was one critical turnover by the qb.

Now the Steelers do have many deeper issues that will prevent them from being a legitimate superbowl contender. The special teams yet again reared its ugly head. Can these guys ever step it up? Just one time? Easily the most pathetic unit in the league. Also, despite the odds against the Steelers going into the game, they had a lead with about 7 minutes to go and could not hold it. The defense is mediocre without Troy in there. Even if he comes back, they're not as good as they were last season. Finally, the play calling is a joke. I'm thinking you have a very good athletic qb who has never started an NFL game.....expect to see some creative bootlegs. Nope...they did it one time and go figure it got them a td. Instead they do the same old bs of trying to force the deep pass when it's not there.

In the end, I still do think this team makes the playoffs but I'm also pretty sure they'll be one and done in the playoffs.

I gotta disagree.Pitt's D sacked Flacco over and over, had turnovers, and sacked Flacco again late to prevent <theoretically> a long field goal.I know you Pitt guys are spoiled by your D being dominant, but 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and keeping Ray Rice to 88 yards rushing does not a bad D performance make. Polamalu is dominant but this was a respectable performance.Pitt lost due to having their third string QB out there, plain and simple. If Roethlisberger or Batch were out there, I'd bet the game would have been much different. Dixon was terrible in the second half.

Exactly why it was on the defense (and they knew it) to close out the game and they failed. We know our team well and we also know who to blame. Dixon played about as well as can be expected given the circumstances. If the team were to win, the D had to win it for them.
