Game Thread W2 - New England V NY Jets (1 Viewer)

What we're watching is the way the Pats will win lots of games this year. I predict they will be very, very successful. But in fantasy terms, there is not a single Patriot I would want to own right now, including Moss, except maybe for Stephen Gotkowski and the defense.

I think it may be short sighted to extrapolate Cassel's first game he's started since high school into how things will go for the entire season. The pats face some soft defenses and still have many potent weapons. Furthermore, it is a fools errand to try to predict how Bellichek will call a game. The one thing that we can say from watching him coach is when you think you know what to expect, he's going to do something different. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them come out next week against Miami and throw it 20 straight times.

Well-earned win for the Pats. Some thoughts:

*Cassel did exactly what you wanted him to do. If he improves on this effort as the season goes on the Pats should be all set at QB.

*LaMont Jordan was a hammer. Very impressive. He gets those extra yards that Maroney never seems to get. Hard to picture him not getting a big role in this offense going forward.

*Kevin Faulk continues to be a vital cog in the Patriot offense.

*With Jordan looking real good and Faulk up to his old tricks the Patriot backfield is just a fantasy mess.

*Without Brady Gostkowski could really have some big days.

*Ellis Hobbs is such a hot and cold player. He's starting to remind me of Asante Samuel before he got it all together. Right now he's looking good.

*Favre can still move great for a guy his age.

*The Adalius Thomas sack was a pretty impressive effort.

*Every time I watch the Jets play I come away wondering why they don't get the ball in the hands of Leon Washington a little more.

*The Jets seem like a much better fit in the 3-4 than they ever have under Mangini.

*Feeley's missed FG was a big play as it seemed like a deflator for the Jets who had a nice opening drive.

*Revis has All Pro written al over him.

*With Miami, a bye and San Fran up next the Pats have a great opportunity to go 4-0 get some rest and take a deep breath after Brady's injury. A loss in one of those two games would be a real setback but as long as they play like today they should be wins.

Two thoughts:1. Parcells could go 2-14 but if the 2 are against the Pats he'll be happy.2. OSullivan is growing up fast. But yeah, I agree.

Random thoughts:

- I forgot how much fun it was to watch Belichick and Co. play football chess. The playcalling was awesome today, especially the first couple of series when Cassel was easing into the flow of the game.

- Lamont Jordan looked like a beast. I played poker with him out in Vegas a couple of months ago and could've sworn that he was pregnant... needless to say I doubted he'd be in game shape so soon.

- Favre looked confused on a number of occasions.

- Cassel needs to trust Moss. A coach should pull the kid aside and remind him that all he needs to do is throw the ball as high and as far as he can in the general vicinity of Moss and there's a good chance that he'll come down with it. Oh, and Cassel needs to learn to throw the redzone jumpball to Moss too.

- Adalius Thomas :football: One of the most impressive solo efforts I've seen in a long time.

- Kevin Faulk is one of the best 3rd down backs of all time.

- The Bills, not the Jets, pose the greatest threat to the Pats this year... and it's not even close.
