Game Thread W3 - Jacksonville V Carolina (1 Viewer)

OMG! After MJD rips one off from inside the Jags 30 to the Panther 36 yardline with 6 seconds left. Next play Gabbert to Mike Thomas who catches it just inside 10 yard line and battles into the endzone. Jags went for it instead of trying a long field goal because of the conditions. Jags lead 10-5 at the half.

How could they say his elbow was down when the back angle shows him pushing off the ground with his hand? Weird call.
Maybe they invented a "physical impossibility rule"?There's no video evidence of the elbow touching, but it had to at some point. I don't think it should've been overturned, but I'm 100% sure the elbow touched at some point.

Bad news for CAR. This is becoming a smashmouth game and the CAR running game is pathetic. Feels like they'd need some Cam magic to pull this off and it didn't appear he had it in the 1st half.

The sun is now shining but the field is still soaked, Jags have come out in the 2nd half pounding the ball.

Del Rio and Koetter should literally be fired in the middle of the 3rd quarter. You have the momentum. You're driving the ball in to Panthers territory and you don't even try to convert a 3rd and 8?

This is the freakin' NFL. You have to at least try on a 3rd and 8.

Newton is bound to throw an interception. There are only so many times that you can hang the ball in the middle of the field and leave unscathed..

I don't like the call either. If anything I would have liked to see Gabbert dump it off to MJD in the flat and let him bull his way to a first down.

Then again, if the Jags are too scared to throw on a 3rd and 8, there's not much hope for them either.
Gabbert's fumbling a couple of wet ball snaps could be a factor in that decision.
I could see that. And it's not like Cam's a threat today, so punting's not a big deal.Still, you have to at least try to keep a good drive going. They've taken conservative gameplay to a new level.

Jack Del Rio is responsible for that, nobody else.

Edit: Maybe next time it's 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 11, you let your QB throw the football.

MJD has his 100 yards rushing. Jags 2nd half play selection, 17 runs and 1 pass.
I don't understand it. In theory, isn't this the best time for the Jags to pass? If the Panthers score again, they're going to have to throw and the Panthers are obviously going to know that. Del Rio is coaching a terrible game..

CAR may as well just make the complete conversion to a spread option. Defenses know that "Cam under center=we're running the ball" and that's not going to cut it.

Can't watch this game. Hear that Cam has been stinking it up .....question - how is Gabbert looking??
Not much better than Newton if at all. He's fumbled the snap 4 times, there was a huge downpour so the ball is wet. He has completed 8 of 15 passes for 99 yards.

I have to think that if MJD catches that screen pass instead of Karim, he gets the extra yard for the first down if he doesn't take it to the house.
