Game Thread W3 - Jacksonville V Denver (1 Viewer)

Selvin Young attempts a stiffarm... with both arms. The result is a pretty predictable fumble. Where's your head, rookie?

The main problem with this scenario is that he was in there at all.. dont give me henry was winded crap dude has 3 touches..

Somebody wake up Javon Walker, PULEASe!
Walker's fine, Denver just hasn't had any chances to get him the ball. They had a 3-and-out and the lost fumble by Selvin kill two of their three drives, and the last drive was only a handful of plays because Marshall was getting huge chunks of yardage. Denver's only run 15 plays so far.

Can you not understand that Henry is only going to get 60-70% of the touches in Denver this year? And that he'll be a top-10 RB anyway?Edit: It was 2nd-and-24. Selvin Young is the long yardage RB.

WOW! Del Rio pulls the stupidest coaching move of the year, to date! Jacksonville has 2nd down and goal from the 8, and they throw a pass to the 1 yard line, but Denver jumps offsides. Jax either gets the choice of 3rd-and-goal from the 1, or else 2nd and goal from the 4. They choose 3rd-and-goal from the 1... and then Del Rio CALLS A SPIKE. Garrard actually looked incredulously at his teammates before shrugging and spiking it. I think he thought he had 2nd-and-goal from the 1, but that's just INEXCUSABLE to lose track of the game situation that thoroughly. Instead of making a play on 3rd-and-goal from the 1, Jax is forced to settle for a FG. Huge break for Denver.

What's up with Stokely?
He's in and playing, but Denver's #3 never gets much action. He had an offensive PI earlier in the game, but that's it so far. A lot of Denver players are having quiet games so far because Denver has only run 15 plays in the first half.

That's pretty awful. Thanks for the description for those of us not watching the game.

holy ####1) Garrard HAS to be smart enough to shrug that call off and run a play2) maybe Del Rio should be run out of Jacksonville next?

:goodposting: INEXCUSABLE

I think we can all expect very little out of denver offense today.. jville ran the clock out in the first half, and now with a lead I think they will continue to run it out in the second half..

Not a problem. Looks like Elway Lives has bowed out for now, and since I actually get this game at home rather than having to go to a bar, I'll keep everyone updated as we go.

1) I have to think that, with the way Jacksonville handled the Leftwich situation, Garrard probably doesn't (a) have the experience to know the playbook well enough to call his own audible there, and (b) have the confidence to defy the coaching staff.2) There were rumblings that Del Rio's seat was getting hot before the season even opened. If Jax loses this by 4 or less, I can't think this will help his cause.

Jax has run 35 plays to 15 for Denver. That's not going to hold up in the second half, especially since Denver gets the ball to start.

Not surprisingly you are doing a trillion times better at the updates than I could possibly do. The mic is all yours my friend.

well.. double whammy against Del Rio then. cutting the starting QB and handing the keys to a guy who doesn't know the playbook well enough to call off that boneheaded decision.OUCH

if they dont figure out a way to stop jacksonville from just running the ball every play I dont think things will noticeably change in the second half....

I don't think it is a. My guess is he was doing what the coach told him to do.I think Garrard has looked good today.

Del Rio made as bonehead a mistake as you can make, but :goodposting: at all the people in this thread calling for his head. He's winning by 10 at halftime on the road against a 2-0 with the number 1 offense and the number 1 defense in the league. This might set a record for poor timing.

Also, since it's halftime, I'll give the people at home an update on Marshall. His first catch was a 49-yarder on 3rd-and-14, but that wasn't a good play by Marshall so much as it was a TERRIBLE blown coverage by Jacksonville. He was 50 yards downfield and there literally wasn't a single Jacksonville defender within 15 yards of him (and only Reggie Nelson even realized he was back there). Cutler was trying to shake off some pressure and the throw was really underthrown, but it didn't matter. Marshall turned around and looked like he was about to call a fair catch back there waiting for the ball to arrive. A little bit more air under that ball and Marshall breaks it for the easiest score of his career, but I can't get too down on Cutler, given the pressure he was under.

Since then, though, Marshall has been living up to his "Baby T.O." nickname. He had a nice 12-yard grab on 3rd-and-4, but after that was a highlight-reel run after the catch that turned a 4-yard screen into a 30-yard gain. On that drive, Marshall converted 3rd and 14, 3rd and 4, and 2nd and 24. Amazing.

Denver has the #1 offense? They have barely squeeked by all their games so far this year.

It's just an unsustainable pace. No way Denver finishes the game with 30 offensive plays. Just not going to happen.Of course, as I type that, Denver fumbles the kickoff and Jacksonville gets yet ANOTHER drive.

Garrard's looked good moving around, but almost all of his throws have been junky 5-yard dumpoffs. At one point, he had completed something like 80% of his passes but was still only averaging 5 ypa. Denver's been content to let him take all the underneath stuff he's wanted until late in the first half. We'll see if they start tightening up to put a stop to these clock-killing drives.

Is this a fumble or will it get overturned? I hate not being able to watch Bronco games!
Looked like a fumble to me, but there wasn't enough evidence either way to do anything.Announcers finally told us why Lynch is on the sidelines. Apparently he pulled his groin.

Not watching, but wondering whats up with M.Peterson for us IDP players. No tackles or assist. Is he in or hurt?

I'm a big Terrell Davis fan, but quit talking over the action. Seriously, some of us are tuning in to watch a football game, not a Terrell Davis highlight clip.

He's in. He made a great play earlier where he forced Cutler to get rid of the ball, but haven't seen much of him since then.

Yes, and the gap was pretty wide between #1 and #2. Before today, of course. Jaguars looking good here.

Denver's offensive line is getting no push there, and the broadcasters are still refusing to talk about the damn football game. Denver punts. Sauerbrun has an AMAZING leg- this is a 65-yard touchback after an earlier 61 yard touchback. Not often can you average 40+ net punting yards booting nothing but touchbacks.

Eh, I think it's more their offense than their defense. Denver's just not getting any opportunities offensively thanks to the IDIOTIC fumble by Selvin Young, the special teams fumble by Hixon, and the way their defense can't get Jax off the field.

Denver's D-line has been really, really active today. Should have 3-4 more sacks, but Garrard keeps getting rid of the ball. Great downfield coverage, too. This pass defense is definitely legit.

Again Garrard scrambles. Horrible tackling by the LBs, who have been getting abused all game. I thought the tackling problems from preseason had been fixed, but they're back in full force during this game.
