Game Thread W3 - New England V Buffalo (1 Viewer)

Tom Brady drops back, has a cup of coffee, checks the morning stock report, makes a few acquisitions, then throws the ball 10 yards downfield for a first down.

I like how they didn't bother to call obvious grounding on 3rd down and holding on 4th down. As if the Patriots needed more help.

The plus side though is I'm glad I started Gronkowski this week over Gates. (Gates was a scratch as it turned out, but I was starting Gronk over him anyway).

Well it is time to get ready for the Sabres game. I don't like to bail early but the Bills are out of their league.

Why is Gronk a mystery to defenses? I don't understand how a TE can do that every week, they must know he's going to catch the ball every time.

Gronk going to score 4 TDs in front of his family tonight.

Man, I wish he was a Bill.

Player led with the helmet on a tackle on Welker.

After flag was thrown Bills players getting very personal with the refs, surprised they didnt get a 2nd flag.

Followed by a great interception by the bills safety.

I don't like that personal foul call on thenhit on welker. Welker had turned and put his head down, I don't think he was defenseless.

Dear Fitz,

Jones kind of sucks. Please target Johnson and Nelson and Chandler.

PS - Or put the ball in Jackson's hands! :excited:

No.
Just because Welker is 5 foot nothing doesnt mean you can tuck your head as if you were tackling someone that is 6 foot, it was a defenseless receiver call but he hit welkers helmet with his own. If he had made even an attempt to tackle him around the chest there would have been no call at all.
you have to tackle him differently b/c he's shorter?how big do you think Jairus Byrd is?it was a shoulder tackle. helmet contact was incidental.

Yes, you do, if someone is shorter and a normal tackle will cause a bad hit yes. They teach this crap in Pop Warner, it doesnt matter how big or small the guy is, hit them around the chest/waist.Since when are safety rules designed only for above average sized players, its a universal standard had he made an attempt at all, they wouldnt have flagged him, it was because he made no attempt at all to not cause helmet-to-helmet contact that he even was flagged.

If Buffalo had kicked that FG, they might be driving to pull within 8 before the half, making it a 1 possession game. Hindsight 20/20 and no guarantee Lindell would have made it.

The NFL wants offense. Anything that impedes that will be a penalty. (Obviously that is an over-simplification but they really do not like 10-7 games.)

you're arguing for a call they didn't even make.they said Welker was defenseless, but he caught the ball, turned upfield, and braced for the hit.how was he defenseless?Welker is 5'9", Byrd is 5'10". When you run through a player like he did, helmets are going to collide. He did not lead with the helmet.

Johnson 7/85/TD

Nelson 6/84

We might have 2 top20 WRs for 2011. Nelson seems to get open a lot and they compliment each other nicely.

21-10, still a game in the 2nd half.
