Game Thread W3 - New England V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

I have seen too many football games to not know what is about to happen. If the Steelers don't get a score on thsi drive, I'll eat my hat.
Cowher teams almost never come-from-behind in big games. I remember this because when he came back and beat the Browns in the wild card game I was dumbfounded because I went looking and couldnt recall it ever happening before. Then he lost in the next round, anyway.

3rd and 19. Roethlisberger out of the shotgun. Patriots offside, but get a ton of pressure from all angles. Waste of a great blitz, but at least Roethlisberger never had a chance to take advantage of the free play. 3rd and 14.

But the QB he has this year is nothing like past QBs.3rd and 14. Lets see what happens.

You may have seen a lot of football. But, you're not too perceptive.

In past situations like this, I recall seeing Cowher teams just take too much to get to the line and use up too much time. Then it eventually forces them to be in a bad spot like having to convert a 4th a long or something.
Nice call.

Would you like salt and pepper or salsa with that entree?

SHHHI am using my reverse jinx.

THE PATS HAVE NO CHANCE!

This is where the Patriots 31-21 time of possession advantage is coming in huge, unlike last year, when the Steelers had an enormous lead in that category. The Steelers can't run the ball as effectively in the second half, they can't blitz every down, and they can't stop the dink and dunk. Givens over 100 yards on the day.

See if I'm the Patriots I just go for the kill. I'm three-time super bowl champs. I'm playing with house money let's go have fun.

Patriots trying to step on the Steelers' throat. The Steelers expect the run, Brady throws two nice gains to Givens and Dillon.

Vinatieri puts it through, and the Steelers need 7 in 3:19 to tie. I love that the Patriots passed their way to field goal range, and then started to run it.

Alright. Cowher, Reothlisberger, and the Steelers have another shot to show me that they have what it takes to come from behind. Good. This should again be interesting and fun. Let's see what they got.

The Steelers really didn't run the ball enough in this game. They passed more than they ran, which is very uncharacteristic for them.

They are on the 50 yard line. They better get a score here.

NOW is the time for PIT to show what they are made of, they can still win this game, playing at home and are at MID-FIELD! One TD plus xtra point will net them the win.Put up or shut up for Cowher and company...

It was 23 runs, 20 passes at the time you said this. Now Roethlisberger's forced to pass, so the numbers will be 23/23 after this third down play.

NE sut down the run, simple as that.

Cedrick Wilson with another clutch catch, this one way over his head. He may emerge as the #2. Confusion on the Steelers' part, they just used up almost thirty seconds getting the play called, then threw an incomplete pass.

If the Steelers learn anything from this game it's that C Wilson should be getting more play time over Randel-El

You have to count sacks as passes too. And even though Parker didn't break one, he really didn't get a chance. Roethlisberger was so inconsistent, I would have run more.Plus, Roethlisberger had 2 rushes that were designed pass plays.

By my count, currently there have been 20 designed rushes and 30 designed passes.

If they lose, this is one big reason why.

Hines Ward makes a huge catch but comes up limping. The Pats held him up and drove him back. He looked confused, holding the ball out as if to get extra yardage, but he was facing the wrong way. :bag:
