Game Thread W3 - New York Jets V. Miami (1 Viewer)

I'm not a Jets or Dolphins fan, but its really awfull for the refs to call a hold on a play like that which wasn't really obvious, with the game result possibly on the line.

Let me get this straight...it's 3rd and 2, down 4, 10:00 to go, you have been wearing the Jets out and you decide to throw the ball then punt on their 42 yd line...OK

Man, I don't remember seeing SO many plays overturned by challenges in one day. Lot's of missed calls today.

Dolphin fan here, and I agree.
Meh, maybe away from the play but it was right next to the ball carrier and directly impacted the play. Starks would have eaten Sanchez up if he wasn't held.
At the point of attack, hands outside his frame, grabbed the jersey - an easy call. Too bad for Sanchez FF fans.

I always wonder in these situations if it wouldn't be better just to let New York score here. The odds are they will anyway, and the Dolphins will need every second left. Is that an insane idea?

If this is a penalty on the fins and they get to replay 1st down on this side of the 2 minute warning then the Fins HAVE to let them score.

If the Jets get a TD 30-23 why not go for two and put the game away? Or at least make it a two posession game.

I don't understand why a player in this situation needs to run all the way to where his team is congregated on the sidelines. Can't he just run out of the back of the end zone to make sure you don't get a penalty?

Crappy play design on that last play. If they have someone running a corner over the top then that guy can't jump on the Fasano hitch like that. They threw it at a guy with 3 defenders in his area and 0 other receivers pulling any of those defenders away. Terrible.

huge win, especially with a weakened defense (no revis or Pace in addition to no Jenkins, who obviously isn't coming back)

That INT won me my fantasy game. Marshall's huge night almost cost me.

Really wish Langford had hung onto the ball when Sanchez decided to hand it to him but it wasn't to be.

Looking forward to the rematch in NY. (Hoping I'll be able to be there)

Wow - without Revis the Jets pass D was just horrid. I mean horrid. Couldn't cover anybody. Hartline, Bess, and of course Marshall. (Scored 27 points to tie me). Cromartie is Marshall's dream matchup - been schoolin' him for years. But who in the hell is that Billy Barty white midget safety? What was he thinking about all night? His new nickname should be white toast. Some of the worst safety play I've seen in awhile..

What is it with division games? These guys will go back to struggling to score 14 points each week but when they play each other they make Sanchez and Henne look like a Manning/Brees shoot out.

LT looked good. Greene just is not getting it done and seemed to limp off at the end. I really think we'll see another 5 carries per week out of LT now. Gotta give Sanchez props too - he sure was putting the ball where he needed to (as did Henne for the most part). Exciting game.

Game over. Jets won. That was a horse chit call in any game at any time. I will also admit the Phins got jobbed a few times too. The ref'ing was pretty poor for both sides. The Slauson holding call was beyond nit picking, it was horse chit.

The odds of making a two point conversion are less than 50%. So the risk is not worth the reward. An extra point puts the Jets up 31-23. You then force Miami to score a touchdown and make a two point conversion (where the odds are less than 50%).If you go for two and make it you put the game away but if you don't make it then the Dolphins can tie it up with a touchdown and the extra point. So the odds of the Jets making the two point conversion < the odds of the Jets not making it and the Dolphins kicking the extra point.

I hated the way this game was ref'd. You need to let these 2 teams just go out there and beat each other up. No place for weak holding or personal foul penalties. As you said though, it was so bad that it went both ways AND when both defenses are performing like that no one has a right to complain about anything.
