Game Thread W3 - San Francisco V Minnesota (1 Viewer)

Very nice play by Favre. But I have to say that it makes me sick that Lewis makes an absolutely unbelievable catch and somehow keeps his feet in bounds and the play by play moron screams "Favre has done it!!!!". Really??? The first thought pops into your mind isn't "Holy ####!!! What a catch!!!!"???? Unbelievable.
Amen

Screw the throw - that was a SUPER catch.
FYI.....the throw was right where it needed to be so he could make the catch.
Uh - did you see where he leaped about 3 yards in the air before the ball got to his hands - and he was a good two feet in the air - and came down with the ball with both feet.
Uh - I did see the catch. It was a great catch AND a great pass.
It's a drag you weren't in the booth - cause all I heard was Favre great throw, Favre is awesome, Favre is unbelievable (and we will all day) - not many props thrown Lewis' way on the catch that Favre was winging it on.Favre is awesome but the catch was better than the throw - IMO.
I have to disagree. I think 30 seconds after the play was over I heard him say "Oh ... and nice catch by Greg Lewis".

I see the Favre hate runs deep.

Football is sometimes about opportunity. Greg Lewis has NO opportunity to make that play if Favre isn't the guy throwing the ball. Greg Lewis is a nobody in the annals of football lore. Favre is a legend. Who you think they're going to talk about? Lewis might not catch another pass all year.

I just expect them to call the play and not dry hump Favre for 10min after I just saw a guy make the best catch I've seen this season when the pressure was on.

This is pretty dumb, that was a great play by Favre and a great catch by Lewis...sometimes fandom gets in the way of love for the game.

50 yds laser - no lob or hail Mary - Just plain old rocket ball! 40 yd lline to the back of the end zone. Count em. The Shaman who said his arm is gone should be ashamed!!!!!

The ability to run the hurry up offense and win a game in the last minute or two of games: THIS is one thing MN has been lacking since at least Warren Moon. We ARE for real.

Berrian, however, needs to pick up his game. He had at least four drops. If we had lost his game would have been very comparable to Ted Ginn Jr.s last week.

Amazing how plays in the NFL come down to inches or fractions of a second. Favre is *almost* brought down and then he throws the ball with not even a half-second to spare before the defense is right on his arm again. He throws a perfect pass, right where it has to be, and the fourth receiver on the field makes an incredible catch, comes down with a foot right in front of the line, drags his toe to get the second foot in and maintains possession at the end of the game with two seconds to spare on the clock.

Favre or no Favre that's great football.

Why is it hate to think the catch should get a bit of pub?

Agreed...reminds me of the SB with the Rams and Titans...Kearse right there on Warner as he lets it go for Bruce...

I agree that it was an AWESOME catch by Lewis, but perfect throw by Favre, and now that I've watched it 10 times, fantastic juke by Favre to get away from 9ers DE. Special play all around.

i really dont care about Farve and yada yada

but per a fantasy perspective .. it looks like S.Hill has cemented his starting job .. and the Niners can say they are for real ...

IMHO the S. Hill stuff is crazy. Dude was 0 for whatever on third downs. He sucks. From a fantasy perspective..if he's your starting QB in any week.. you will very likely lose often.

no argument from me as Hill is never going to be a stud

but another semi decent game today . on average around 15 points

if you go back and look last year if you pro-rated his last 8 games through a whole season he would be a top 8 fantasy Qb ..

( i believe FBG wrote about this as well )

just kinda interesting

in a 2 qb league .. hill is very usefull as a # 2 QB

if your in some dinky free yahoo type league prob waiver wire fodder

Not a bad backup though. When he came in last year he did pretty well FF wise...and has shown he can make some plays.

Wow..Looks like a huge win for the 49ers without their best player for most of it..
Willis played the whole game.
Funny..
You weren't referring to Gore, were you? Their D is MUCH stronger than their O.
Maybe so, but that doesn't change the fact that Gore is their best all around player..
Faster? Nope.Stonger? Nope.

Better vision/insticts? Nope.

You line Gore up 7 yards deep one on one against Willis and he might be able to get past the LOS 1 time out of 10.

Willis is the best defensive player in the league.. not just on the 49ers.

And he is much better than Gore.

Oh yeah.. durability and toughness?
