Game Thread W4 - Green Bay v Minnesota (1 Viewer)

Are you stupid? By this logic they should go for it on 4th down every time. I mean so long as the coach calls a play that works they should jut execute it, right?
:lmao: NO, I'm just not blind is all. Oh, never mind. You win since you reverted to the name calling 1st!Bad call should have kicked the FG.
Funny that you snipped the part of my post that you had no valid response for.
Funny, you actually thought anything you wrote was a valid point.

You agreed with it and it showed your bias against him to acutally think the Vikings were calling plays to pad his stats. That is just ignorant, sho, and you know it.
Yawn...nothing changes...even in a post where Im not blaming Favre...its apparently bias against him to say anything about the Vikings now. :lmao:
You love every minute of it.
No...I really don't love posting over and over to try and defend myself from the onslaught by the usual suspects...who make threads about me rather than the topic. Can you...or any of them stick to football rather than whining more about me?Just once?
Well....I think we'd love to hear your explanation that the Viking coaches actually tried to call plays that were designed to pad Favre's stats instead of trying to win the game. Seriously.....you have no credibility since you actually stated the Vikings were trying to pad Favre's stats tonight.
sho= :rolleyes:

What a fun game to watch tonight! Like two heavyweight fighters slugging it out deep into a 15-round fight. It probably wasn't smart, but I personally loved the "F-U" call in the last meaningful Vikings possession on 3rd down too. Deep down the sidelines to Berrian. Smart? Probably not. Fun to watch...from a coach/team that thinks a football cannot physically fly more than 10-15 yards? :lmao:

Where did I say "instead of trying to win the game".And you talking about credibility is hilarious. But do I think they did...yes, I think they tried doing things to get more for him down there. My explanation is they have the best RB in the NFL and a great run blocking Oline and ran 2 play action passes inside the 3 yard line.

Great game. I agree with anyone who says that the gameplan was to allow Favre more shots at the endzone. I loved how great Allen played against the depleted Packer O-line. Sidney Rice is absolutely MVP with those two onside recoveries, never mind the TD. Absolutely what the team needed. Very closely fought by Green Bay in spite of how poorly the O-line played today. But who could have expected better from the injuries and whatnot.

I am sure that Favre is ecstatic with his play today. So am I.

As they said on the air tonight, no QB in NFL history has thrown more 1-yard TDs than Favre. Obviously, most of those TDs came with the Packers. It was a staple of the Holmgren era and hardly was used to pad Favre's stats. Childress called a great game tonight and Favre executed the game plan to perfection. Both deserve a lot of praise.

Favre played probably his best game in 3 years tonight. He wasn't asked to throw as much as people seem to think, but he made them count when he did. Man, that Minn Oline looked amazing tonight though. I know Favre is the media darling but boy that group can't get enough credit for what they did in pass protection. I know GB has struggled to create a pass rush all season, but what Minn was doing to them was disgusting. Favre had all day to throw the ball and he could have picked just about anyone to pitch it to as well. On D, Minn has 2 studs in Allen and Winfield but otherwise I wasn't all that impressed with the D. To make a serious playoff run (vs teams like NO) they will need to get more out of everyone else on the field IMO.

I was very surprised at how long Favre had to hang in the pocket tonight, I think that made all the difference.

Did you see the look on Childress's face?He did not call that play. Brett did. :goodposting:

This is the 1st time I really got to see much of Loadholt. He had a lot of pancake like blocks on the right side on passing downs. Green Bays defense played the run well.

Don't forget the Williams wall. It was clear GB was not even going to try and test them.

Fat Pat made it clear from the 1st play that they would be giving ground on the line of scrimmage every play if they do not double him. So they did. Kevin Willams then one on one was just crushing their LG. The defense played very aggressive. And because of that gave up some big plays. They give up the screen and draws all day and big plays to the TE. But 7 sacks and a lead? Why not play aggressive?Henderson is limited in coverage.. but he is a great tackler. All the Vikings defenders are great tacklers. They just don't cover so well.

Actually, I didn't. I was too busy telling a Steeler fan/friend of mine about the time-honored tradition of teens and 20-somethings in the East Metro hanging "Go Home, Losers!" banners from most-every bridge overpass on I-94 from Metrodome to the Wisconsin border. A little tactless and shameful, I suppose. However, most people think it's too cold here to line-up and moon the Packers team bus on the way out. :hophead:Seriously though, I don't care who called that play...all I care about is the final score, no INTs, no fumbles and no sacks out of the QB position.

Oh yeah.

That pass interference on Green Bays #21 that negated his interception in the end zone and led to 7 points for the Vikings?

That was bad call and the zebras did seem to be in the Vikings pocket this game.

It was close, but his arm did cause Rice to be turned away from the ball so I think that has to be called. Wouldn't have mattered anyway as GB was offside on that play.

A few observations from the game:

1. John Sullivan(Vikings center) has a long way to go in development. This is the second week in a row that he couldn't get any push on the NT which made it impossible for the Vikings to run inside and GB had very good gap control in the run defense tonight.

2. I am now convinced that teams are in a no-win situation against the Vikings O. If you load up the box this year, Favre is going to pick you apart as he has the last two games. Also, the Vikings have 3 great WRs and I mean that. Sidney Rice will be a true No. 1 threat for this team by the end of the year. He has game and is showing that he is getting the understanding of the pro offense. Harvin didn't have the best game tonight, but he is a playmaker for sure. Berrian has recovered from that hammy now and is once again one of the top deep threats in the league. He beat GB deep 3 times tonight: the first he took the route inside and Favre threw to the sideline and missed him, but he had 3 steps on Harris. The second was the double move TD and the third was that audible on the last drive that was just out of bounds. I think this is the first time since Moss left that I've truly been excited about Minnesota's receiving core.

3. Aaron Rodgers is an All-Pro QB. Maybe not this year, but soon. He still needs to be quicker through his progressions and not hold the ball so long(3 of the sacks were on him tonight), but he has an arm.

4. Minnesota has some pieces for becoming a truly epic defense, but they'll never get there unless their LBers and safeties learn better coverage skills. Finley was open all game long because Tyrell Johnson and Chad Greenway just couldn't cover him.

5. Finally, at this point we have to ask ourselves "what was GB thinking" with the switch to 3-4. I know, it takes time for things to truly develop, but I can't remember GB being this leaky in the secondary in a long time. Not only that, but Aaron Kampman(who was one of the best pass rushing DEs in the league) is a below average LB. I find it odd that GB dropped him into coverage so often when he is a terrible coverage man. Sure, he plays OLB in the scheme but he should be used exactly like James Harrison in Pit. He should be blitzing 95% of the times he's on the field.

Sidney Rice was an MVP. Also, the Packers O-line was an MVP, and the Packer D-Line was an MVP even though they stuffed Peterson all game. How can they not have any pressure on Favre all game? Wow.

Don't tell that to Beaver or Stinger...Also give it up to how great your Oline played. Not to take away from Favre...the guy was just on...the line gave him all the time in the world and he took it and delivered passes right on the money.

GB's LBs were the bright spot. Flying around pretty well. ONly a few missed "gaps". One was Petersons nice cut back to the left...the crew blamed Pickett I think...who did get a bit wide...but watching it Barnett was ready to hit the hole Peterson eventually took, and instead followed him to where he was going and the Packers were already ready to plug that hole...Peterson cut back right to where Barnett should have been.

There was offsides anyways. And while it was light contact...Woodson had his arm hooked there right where the ref could see...they will call that every single time. The early hold bothered me more...while the FB tried to hold...he completely whiffed and still took the call.Overall the refs missed a lot of legit holds on both sides. I don't think it factored in to the outcome of the game though.

I just don't think it's out of the world that this game Favre may have asked to really let loose, and you saw with the throws he was making he really wanted to showcase what he had left and make a statement. Then again, I could be wrong because that's basically what the Packers forced him to do with the way they took Adrian Peterson out of the game. But the Vikings went to the pass attack very early on to get that first score in the redzone so that's why I think that way. The O-line stepped up, most definitely. Favre should not have had that much time back there to make stuff happen. I was very surprised.

:lmao: The Vikings coaching staff came up with a game plan that would give them the best chance at winning. Anyone thinking they did that so Favre could pad his stats is nuts. Their goal was to win the game, not pad Favre's stats.

  Everyone keeps questioning the Interference call, but GB was off sides so no matter what the Int wouldn't have counted.
