Game Thread W5 - Pittsburgh V Jacksonville (1 Viewer)

Im always impressed with A) the punishment Holmes is willing to absorb to make a catch and B) the way he pops up back when he takes it.

Should be a good one.
the "Stillers" should handle them tonite... Jax injuries on the O'line have hampered their run game and last week the injuries in the secondary helped make Schaub look like a Hall of Famer.. Roethlisberger will likely toss for 300 tonite..
I told ya so.. he's well on his way!!

Was that a Pittsburgh time out? Or Jags? Because I don't see why Pittsburgh needs a timeout right there.

Nice catch on first down Hines... cost them 4 points.

Jags are lucky to be down only 6... will score the opening TD in the 2nd half to take a one point lead and it will be a game from there when Pittsburgh should be way, way ahead right now.

I think Holmes has either ran the wrong route or ran the wrong hot route about 3-4 times so far, that last play being 1 of them

I think that's a small moral victory for JAX there. Steelers were having their way with them and they managed to keep it to 3 points.

unbelievable..

beginning of the game..

sent the house 3 straight plays ..rushed Ben into a bad throw and a pick 6..

since then I believe 2 man blitzes..

:hophead:

how about we just put every QB the Jags play in the HoF right now...

[TotalHomerPerspective]

Ben throws a pick-6, the Jags convert a 3rd-and-9 and then a 3rd-and-10 on their offensive TD drive, and then Ward drops a TD.

The Steelers are three plays away from being up 24-0.

Letting this Jags team hang around a game you totally dominated is bad, bad news.

47 yards of total offense for the Jags in the first half. Does this team stink or what? They are lucky they aren't behind by three touchdowns.

Question for you guys concerning taunting. Brian Williams was called for taunting in the first half. He obviously crossed the line and was penalized for it. It was against the rules and as such, I have no problem with the call. But, the rule seems absurd. It's football, not chess and players talk #### accordingly. Thoughts?

I tend to agree as long as it isn't ridiculously over the top which that wasn't.

holmes needs to start getting into the end zone a little more, i would feel like he is a good buy low right now but own him in too many leagues already. he looks good when he gets the ball but roeth having too much problems with pressure this year i think. hopefully the steelers keep rollling in the 2nd half and holmes gets a little more involved...as in involved in some td celebrations

nobody on the "Stillers" has ever talked ####.. I can't believe you didn't realize that.. :hophead:

I don't really care what was said. And I'm a Steelers fan. I'll take it but that incident was not worth throwing a flag over.

Calm down, sir.

At the Pro/College level, If it's just words where nobody in the stadium can see/hear then you don't call taunting. If you want to call taunting as to get a point of controll across, you throw the flag and call it offseting penalties. The minute a player starts pointing or doing a dance or some other type of visable taunting all bets are off and your eating yellow.

High School and below it's a different set of rules.

Could we PLEASE blitz more than 3 guys on third down!

Is Madden watching the damn plays on the field? There haven't been any "exotic blitzes" on third downs the whole game yet.

Jags finaly moving the ball....

As someone without a horse in the race, I'd like to see them score some points here. Looking like a good game so far.

actually I'm amazingly calm considering the level of which My team is stinking up the TV tonite.. :excited:

Your not ging to challange it, but there was no way Ben wasn't over the line there....

Anyone with TIVO confirm that?

Moore needs to remember how to put his head down and just push, he's left some yards on the table by going east-west when he should have been going north-south.

Also, that was a lateral so it doesnt matter if Ben was across the line of scrimmage.

Agreed. He had space and one guy already blocking down on a defender. Easy 1st down if he just goes straight ahead and hits someone.

Head Linesman didn't signal a lateral.

Can anyone tell me what that grunt-like chant the JAX crowd keeps doing?!?

Sounds like 'who dey, who dey, who dey' but this would be the first time Ive heard of a team stealing something beneficial from the Bungals
