Game Thread W5 - San Diego V Denver (1 Viewer)

In honor of Al Davis, the Broncos will attempt to push the Raiders into a first place tie for the division.

A really nice gesture.

what is the rule for when somebody recovers a previously ruled incomplete pass??

denver recovered but was not touched and then just gave the ball to rivers afterwards

That's a fumble
I think it was an incomplete pass. What if a Charger caught the ball, would it have been a fumble recovery? While surely not written into the rules, I say the test for receivers and possession applies here - he made a football move with the ball.

When Jay Cutler did it against the Chargers a few years ago, the call on the field (incomplete pass) could not be reversed. The rule got changed the next year, I think.

Tebow is a good RB. Gotta admit that. . . Im a Gator homer. I still think Tebow struggles as a passer in the league because of his delivery. But he is unique in that he is a Fullback playing QB. If you respect his ability to run and break tackles, and play bigger DBs, who knows. . . not me.But I am still on the side of will never develop into a great passer.
He needs a ton of reps. I think if he gets them he will get a lot better. However, I am not confusing him with the next great passer.I won't take anything away from this game as he came in, down a couple scores, and that is tough to do.
He throws the ball like its a baseball. He tends to bring the ball back, sometimes as far as his hip, before he throws it. Yeah, he can throw it far. But good DBs will pick up on his throwing motion and break on the ball. Unless he cleans up his throwing motion, I don't think he will develop much more as a passer.Having said that, he is a unique talent. He can run for tough yards and can keep the defense on the field. Who knows if he has to pass for alot of yards. . . He didn't when he was here at UF.

Seems like the same type of criticism that people were giving Cam. Is their game all that different? I know Cam is better in the passing game but what are the other differences?

Cam's delivery is completely different. Holds the ball near his ear with two hands. Clean, quick delivery. Both are big, but Cam is more like a RB than a FB. Cam reminds me of Big Ben,only faster.

Wow, why would you throw it when you have Tebow and McGahee and need 2 yards. I don't care if they are looking for the run. You have two great short-yardage runners and a QB whose only completion for positive yardage was on a screen.

I want to say to those that knock Tebow, I agree he is not a good mechanical QB but you are watching what he does, Mr Improvisation and for some reason he elevates the play of those around him. Moreno has been non existent and then suddenly he is grabbing a screen and taking it in. Tebow was a small factor in this but yet good things happen around him.

Really wish this moron announcer would stop trying to give these tips to Tebow.
He couldn't have been more critical of Tebow on the first series, talking about all he was doing wrong. Now he's talking about how Tebow is going to definitely start next week (which is Denver's bye week, BTW) regardless of what else happens today.

It's going to be a long season for Rivers if he is constantly under pressure every game, like he has been today (and in previous games).

Two straight incompletions. Not taking any time off the clock, not close to a first down. Very nervous.

I agree that Tebow's mechanics suck...his passing isn't where it needs to be. But the kid has that magical IT. Makes plays when they matter most. Writing him off at this point would be beyond silly.

SD should be running it

GannonETA: Guess he used up all his intelligence when he was still playing

The length of this next play will be crucial.

2:46 left, we'll see if it takes 6 seconds to end this play and wind the play clock.

This will be interesting. Whistle blew at 2:41 but they didn't stop the clock for the penalty until 2:36.

ETA: Nevermind, dead ball foul.

Ah! They do sound similar.

Rivers saves SD from a total and complete 4th quarter collapse. The guy has been bombarded all game through this terrible pass blocking.
