Game Thread W5 - Washington V Denver (1 Viewer)

they just showed the 2 pt try on fox...why the hell didn't he run it!!!????!!
i mentioned that a few posts up - Brunell could have easily run that into the endzone.
Easily? No. he could have TRIED - and SHOULD HAVE tried or at leastr made like he was going to try, but Ian Gold was on the TD line and he has a just a li'l bit of speed.IMO, Brunell would never have made it in.

I don't think Brunell would have made it running it in. And he did have an open receiver in the end zone. Oh well, hats off to Denver for the win. Skins sure are a lot more competitive team than last year.

:goodposting: While I am a Saints fan ( :bag: please keep laughter to yourself) - I live here in the DC/Metro area - it is great to see the Skins looking good this year. I will be rooting for them to do well since they are in a highly competitive division this year.

GO SKINS!!!

Interesting, if you look only at the stat sheet, the Skins dominated this game.Yards per play, 3rd down conversions, yards per pass, total yards, time of possession.Looks like this game came down to a missed FG.

Dead-even game, really. Had the safety call not been overturned, had the FG not been blocked by Denver, the entire end of the game would have played out differently. I don't mean "they shoulda won", just that basically the performance of the 2 teams was separated by very little.

GB Chris Cooley today  I play in a TE heavy scoring league and Cooley got me 30.4 points today :pickle: - which is good considering I am playing aganist the Gates owner this week.

I think the Redskins were the better team. 2 of the Broncos' TDs were long runs on 4th and short. One came after the field goal block, and wouldnt have happened had the field goal been made.Redskins were the better team.

2Redskins cheerleaders have been fired this year for fooling around with Chris Cooley. Gibbs wisely recognized this tendency, and stationed cheerleaders in the end zone. Needless to say, Cooley scored. ;)

:lmao:

anyone start Bell today? I had to choose between Bell and Barlow with Holmes on a bye, I picked Bell :)
I had to pick 2 of Anderson/Bell/Foster, with Jordan on a bye. Guess who I left on the bench? :bag:

I'm proud of my boys from DC. Denver won the game, but the 'ol 'nip & tuck' rule did 'em in. I'm optimistic for the rest of this nail-biting season. See you in KC!

well the giants are in first place
/hijackonThey are singing the Dolphins' song from last week - TGIBW

(thank god its a bye week)

Giants will soon take their place as third or fourth in the division - they have YET to tackle a divisional opponent and I do not believe they are as good as any of the other NFC East teams.

They are an up and coming team, but I find it hard to believe they will go better than 3 wins in the division - lose all road divisional games, and one home game, is how I see it playin gout.

Hard to discredit a team for blocking a kick. I'd put a lot more blame on Mike Sellers for false-starting on the MADE FG by Novak right before halftime. That was brutal. 5 yard penalty, Skins forced to throw hail mary. I would have just kicked it again, what the hell, you're in the thin air of Colorado :)

was that 1st FG from 54 good? someone reported in this thread that it was short. of course, friggin bill maas was too busy listening to the sound of his voice than to actually comment on this  sam rosen? sam?

exactly, and since the game was in Denver, I think the Skins are the better team...JMHO.

It was good, and was called back due to a false start on the Redskins.~Bang

then they should've tried one from 59...

not even mentioned on the telecast
I thought they should have to. Nothing to lose IMO (outside of a blocked return for TD). Novak didnt get a good kick on the ball the first time and it went in. I would have tried for the 59 yarder personally.

A few thoughts.I find it funny that the Skins fans here say, "Oh, well the Skin are the better team 'cause aside from those two long runs, the Broncos didn't do anything." The Skins still gave up two those two long TD runs. You can't just wipe them out. The Skins still looked pathetic doing so, despite playing pretty good the rest of the game. About the last drive, I agree that Al Wilson interfered on that pass to Cooley. But before that, the refs missed at least 2 obvious holding calls on the Skins O line. The Skins O line got away with holding all day long. And the holding call on Karl Paymah was a joke. It was a close game. The Skins played better than I expected them to. But Denver was and is the better team.

Who would you rather have as your quarterback, Brunell or Plummer. At this point I'd be inclined to take Brunell. Plummer looked terrible today.
