Nope, the angle was DIRECTLY to the side of the ball. I've TIVO rewound it several times. It was just a terrible unacceptable call at the Pro levels. It wasn't a side or weird angle. it was RIGHT next to the ball.

I'm pretty sure the camera wasn't on the 16 yard line (or wherever the Steelers were)... I'm not sure how you can feel so sure the call was wrong.

From the looks of the shot, I'd say the cameraman was right around the 16 yard line. When both announcers are perplexed and say a call was wrong, and pretty much everyone at my house says the call is wrong, except the one Pitt fan, I'd say it probably was wrong. I wish I hadn't changed channels, or I would've snapped a JPG and posted here.

So you go from saying "directly" to saying "right around". The camera angle was NOT at the 16. Looked more like the 17 or so, but either way it was the wrong angle.Who cares what both announcers said. They did not even realize right away that the refs had awarded a first down. They were looking at the same camera angle as we were.

I'd say the refs who were right there on top of it had the best angle and they rules 1st down.

I came into this thread only to mention that S. Wilcox?, the color guy during this game, should be fired. He constantly misprounounced names the entire game. It was to the point where the play by play guy starting saying MENDENhall just to show the correct way of saying. It was awful.
