Game Thread W6 - Washington V Green Bay (1 Viewer)

Game over, and Green Bay wins.

Neither team looked very impressive, but the Packers deserved the win. Congrats to them and their fans.

Green Bay wins. The loss should be laid at the feet of the coaching staff. Getting away from Cooley was their big mistake.
They were covering Cooley in the 2nd half more, and the Packers started getting pressure when the 'Skins starting C and RT went out with injury.

Good pt from Aikman. As far as who's better between these two, I still can't tell. I'd actually venture that the Redskins are more balanced. The two teams played outstanding D. Came down to the Redskins having chances but the WR (esp. Moss) not making it happen. Tough break for the Skins and their fans. My buddy's up in Green Bay right now crying in his beer (his wife's from Appleton Wisconsin so she's probably giving him crap)

Green Bay is still a young team and I expect them to get better...

The bye week will definitely help them get healthy....

Washington.... you have a nice team and a good, young classy quarterback....

Look forward to seeing you again... hopefully in the playoffs :lmao:

The only thing that will make this even partially right is the shadenfroid that will come from a bad Cowboys loss.

Taylor dropped 3 interceptions. Portis sucked and so did Moss. No more U of Miami players on Washington please!!
And he caught 2. One of those INTs he dropped Rodgers hit Taylor and knocked the ball out. Portis didn't do as well IMHO more to the injuries on the O-Line rather than anything else. And Moss just was not good today.

####!The 'Skins pissed away a win there. :deadhorse:
Moss certainly didn't help matters, but the O-Line injuries is a massive reason why we lost.
I agree, but even take away just one of the turnovers by Moss and it's a Redskins win.
Take away my grandpa's balls and you have my grandma...... Take away the 2 touchdowns the refs snatched from the Packers and the 2 missed field goals and you have....

Oh please. I can play this game too, take away all the turnovers, sacks and tackles by the Packers and the Skins win in a massive blowout.

Don't be a doofus. Errors are always things you expect your players to avoid, and it was clear that Moss had a dreadful game.

Moss was just awful today. There's no other way to say it. The O-line injuries hurt but injuries happen, you just do the best you can with who's left. But dropping open passes like he did today is inexcusable and cost the game.

Haven't read the thread, but there has been one constant since Gibbs came back, Washington finds ways to lose. I just don't understand it, but their basics are just dreadful, and I think that falls on the coaching staff. I think Washington will be at best a perennial 8-8 team until Gibbs re-retires.

I love Laron Landry. But how sweet would AD look in a 'Skins uni??!!
There's not a team in the NFL that wouldn't love to have him in their uniform. He looks like The Truth out there. Thing is, you don't need a top RB to win, and a safety with Landry's talents is a more difficult commodity to find IMHO.

I disagree. That team did nothing but win close games to reach the playoffs in 2005. I agree their clock management has been a sore spot, but how do you coach Moss not to drop balls like he has all year? This was an ugly game on the road in the rain, with multiple injuries to starters (and even a backup too) OL. It happens. They still would/should have won that game but for Santana which pisses me off to no end.

one observation from Lambeau today

i can't recall another mediocre to poor player who talks more trash than Brandon Lloyd. geesh. the guy had exactly zero catches and zero impact on the game but he ran his mouth ALL DAY long.. on and off the field. he's a prima donna that's lucky to be on an NFL roster.

must be a quality presence in the locker room. i'm sure he's a joy.

We will agree to disagree.

Once again, I have to disagree. Washington was once again outcoached in the second half. They win the first half every week, and they lose the second half every week. They can't hold a lead. They can't score in the second half. Missed oppurtunities abound. I loved Gibbs in his first stint with the skins. But there are just to many bad things going on that are under his pervue to just excuse it any longer. Another 8-8 season at best.

Don't you think that losing your starting C and your RT has something to do with failing to be able to rush and protect that second half lead?

:fishing: This is the first week the O-Line injuries has caught up to the team. They were very close to playing a emergency lineman but Wade came back in.

from my CBS Sportsline league's page

Santana Moss, WR WAS

News: First Santana Moss benched himself, then blamed himself for the Redskins' 17-14 loss to the Packers on Sunday. "I just didn't feel right. I took myself out," said Moss, who left the game shortly after a costly fumble. "Something wasn't feeling right with me and why go out there and keep another guy from helping us win? ... I wasn't making the plays that I should have been making." Moss finished without a catch and allowed the go-ahead touchdown when he fumbled on a reverse that Charles Woodson picked up and returned 57 yards with 2:05 left in the third quarter. "I can go home and sit there and probably break my TV based on what I'm going to see tonight," Moss said. "I know that's not the solution."

Analysis: Moss played against the Packers after sitting out Week 5 against Detroit. He had several drops and struggled to get open. Look for Moss to rebound in Week 7 against Arizona and consider him a low-end No. 2 option.

Campbell looked terrific I thought…. The WRs were weak… OK, Moss had that ball go right through his hands for an INT, then he had the one down the sidelines that hit his facemask… Randle-El had that ball that hit his back shoulder that he should’ve caught for a 1st… and Brandon Lloyd had that ball deep go off his finger tips (granted a tough catch, but catchable!)… Ugh… and the Moss fumble and the Portis fumble.. killers….

I wonder if Portis' fumbling problems can be attributed to his lack of practice and preseason action due to the knee thing. He's fumbled 3 times in 5 games, losing 2, and that's not including the botched handoff that was credited to Campbell against the Giants. Which essentially makes it 4 fumbles in 5 games.
