Game Thread W7 - Minnesota V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

I know I will sound bitter here but that TD was a direct result of BS tripping call by refs. Steeler fans should be embarrassed by the regularity that they get all the cheap calls.Yes I bet on Minn :bag:
I also have to mention the BS call on Rice's catch forcing the Vikes to use their final challenge.Ha Vikes TD and an official gets run over.
Refs missed very obvious holding call on Harvin's return for TD. Make up call.
Regardless, if the Vikes score there I think they win the game. Despite the call, congrats to the Steelers. It was a fun game to watch. One game does not make or ruin the season. Both of these teams are good.

Without Winfield, without BB most of the game, Minnesota outplayed the Steelers today. Steelers and their refs get the W today, but Minnesota is the better team. Favre threw all over them, outplayed Ben today, our defense was better. A bad bad call changed the complexion of the game. Savior your win Steelers, Vikes are a better team.I hope we play Pitt in the SB.
;) Steelers were without their best DL Aaron Smith and they lost LB Timmons during the game. NFL is a big boys league and injuries happen to all teams and the good teams overcome the injuries.

Just watched (game highlights - i guess that term depends upon your perspective) that Favre handoff to the Steelers - classic Bret.
Classic post from a Favre hater. :(
Do you have something set up to tell you when someone posts a comment that is disparaging of Favre? I picture a light emitting from your computer that cast a silhouette of Favres head on your wall.

LOLIt's so posh to blame the refs when the Steelers win. It's like blaming Obama when it rains on your wedding day. OMG, this schtick never gets old. :lmao:

It's not fire. It's embittered fans of lesser franchises rubbing sticks together.

Jerklisberger
Is this your own creation or did you steal it from somewhere?
I've seen/read/heard a variety of variations on his name over the years. As well I've added a few of my own. I don't know if this was an original creation or something I've run into before. Even if I used it without seeing it somewhere else, it's not so creative that someone (or a few million someones) somewhere esle didn't think of it as well.Or,Does it matter?

Hitting the ref on Percy's return is justice!!!

Where did most of these guys come from? With the exception of Arctic Edge (and to a somewhat lesser extent Prosopis), who've been unbelievable crybabies, all the "name" posters I recognize are cool. Who the heck are these guys that popped up out of nowhere, seemingly just to gripe? There were a couple of bad calls both ways. Each team had a TD called back. Bottom line is that the Vikes had a couple chances to win and the Steelers D made big plays. That's it. Vikes fans saying they should keep their heads high are right - Heinz Field is a VERY hard place to win, and Minnesota can play with any team in this league. Those of you crying about the refs, join the freaking club. Cry all you want if it makes you feel better, but it ain't changing the standings.

As a Packer fan, it was nice when Fox switched over from the route in Cleveland in time for us to see the game-clinching INT and, even better, this last series:

1-10-MIN37 (:54) (Shotgun) B.Favre pass short left to S.Rice to MIN 48 for 11 yards (I.Taylor).1-10-MIN48 (:28) (Shotgun) B.Favre pass incomplete deep right to P.Harvin. Coverage by #26 Townsend, #22 Gay.2-10-MIN48 (:20) (Shotgun) B.Favre pass deep left to S.Rice pushed ob at PIT 36 for 16 yards (I.Taylor).1-10-PIT36 (:13) B.Favre pass short left to A.Peterson to PIT 19 for 17 yards (J.Farrior).1-10-PIT19 (:03) (Shotgun) B.Favre sacked at PIT 27 for -8 yards (J.Harrison).
Down by 10 with less than a minute left and Chilly has Greybeard dropping back five times to end the game, including at least two hard hits, a piledriver on the completion to ADP and a sack as time expired. Lovin that extension they gave him last week. :bag:

I have noticed you have had your head in the sand for most of this season when it comes to Favre. Of course, you show it today. :lmao:

Here come the classy Steeler fans.
Was this even warranted?Do people really hate the steelers that much? I just left the bar with a family of packer and bear fans cheering against the steelers in favor of an undefeated vikings team in their own division. I love it!!!!

You can tell the Vikings fans from the Favre fans pretty easily in this thread.

"Refs stole the game."

vs.

"None of this was Favre's fault."

Wow. Chalk it up to a bad call, then (and ignore that Pittsburgh also had a TD taken down on a questionable call and also that Minnesota got their first TD after Favre didn't get flagged for grounding on a play that clearly was, enabling them to convert a 3rd and 10 that should have been 3rd and 20-something) and don't admit that one team made bigger plays when it counted. If the Vikes hadn't allowed two red-zone plays to turn into TDs the other way, they most likely win. Bottom line. But, it's easier to stomach, I guess, if you have someone else to blame rather than your players. Just know that you sound like a serious tool if you continue to insist that the refs handed Pittsburgh the game.

Actually, using the crew as a source is a little below using TMZ as a source on the credibility ratings factor.

Wahhhh. Favre can only come from behind so often. The better team won today. Deal with it. Ill give props to minny. They are the tops of the nfc. But if mendy doesnt fumble at the 5 its a different ball game

I don't think it was the calls either way. IMO it was the Vikings making too many mistakes at critical situations. AND (the most important part) Childress having no idea he has the best RB in the league so he doesn't use him. Peterson was getting nice yardage in the second half when he did get the ball but Chilly didn't keep going to him. That's the worst part about this season, the moron is going to be our coach for a while.

I only follow football through message board postings and based on this research, I can assure you that the Steelers have never had a call go against them.

For the record I hate Minn. I had some money on them and it was the game I was watching. I do think Pitt gets way more calls then most teams. I still remember Minn losing that championship game to Atl. I loved it. I danced the dirty bird for a good year.I just get tired of seeing Pitt get more then the fair share of calls.

:goodposting:No... and I can understand it pissd you off with $$ on the line. The Steelers don't get more then their fair share of calls, though. I watch every game, I assure you this isn't the case. There was a season in the early part of this decade where they lost 3 games in one year based directly on poor calls so egregious that the league actually sent apology letters. That pretty much never happens and it happened 3 times in one year, I kid you not. They didn't make the playoffs, and would have with those wins. So, it all evens out in the end.

The bolded part explains everything. No need to say anymore.......sorry about your loss.

I am saddened I missed this thread while the fireworks were going off. Read the last page and the hits just keep on coming.

I love how nobody (Vikes fans) will acknowledge the bogus call on Heath Miller that cost us a TD (4 pt swing) and the non-hold call on the return.

I'll synopsize my thoughts on some of the biggest plays...

Feel free to answer these questions for yourself.

Was the tripping call bad... yep.

Did the ref make Brett Favre fumble the next play or did the Minn O-line break down? I'd say the latter.

Did the ref keep Minn from tackling Woodley on the return? Nope.

Did the ref tip the ball that Fox intercepted and took to the house? No.

I mean c'mon with the belly-aching. Enough already, you're making all of Minnesota very upset.

And if you haven't learned by now, bad calls happen to both teams all game long.
