Big time play by Ziggy there, no matter how this is overturned/not overturned.
no #### sherlockillegal punch of the ball
he did it. and he's going to get away with it.it makes it a great play. legal or not.You can't do that.what a great play by polamalu
Bumping my own post because I want to jump through the TV at him right now.Phil Simms is going to cry.Seriously, I hate him. He is so blatantly anti-Pittsburgh. Sick of hearing him every week. How does he get away with it?
Guess you cant review the illegal batting of the ball then.Patriots ball on the 20.
its the Uggisfication of being a kept manBrady dont look so confident no more like he did in press conferences this week
It would be a 10 yard penalty from the spot of the foul.So what happens if you punch a ball out of the back of the end zone? Award a TD to the pats? eh?
I bet next year we will be able to review this illegal play. Weird that this hasn't happened in the past.
can't review penalties called or not calledIt should have been.Wow. I really thought it would be called a touchback.
What else would it be? If the ball goes out of the back of the endzone it's a safety.HUH? He's not in bounds, so its a safety?I think they messed this call up bad
HUH? He's not in bounds, so its a safety?I think they messed this call up bad
A fumble going out-of-bounds in the endzone being attacked results in the defending team assuming possession via touchback if the offensive team forced the ball into the endzone. If the defensive team forced the ball into the endzone it is a safety for the offense.
Defense played like champs today. What an awesome game plan by the Steelers. I thought sure the Pats were going to smoke them.
If he was in bounds it wouldve been a recovered fumble for a TD. They got that part right.HUH? He's not in bounds, so its a safety?I think they messed this call up bad
What an awesome game plan by the Steelers. I thought sure the Pats were going to smoke them.
Tomlin and LeBeau deserve great credit. Now if we can just beat the Ravens next week, we're in the drivers' seat for Home field.Pittsburgh touched the ball last, it would be Patriots ball on the 20What else would it be? If the ball goes out of the back of the endzone it's a safety.HUH? He's not in bounds, so its a safety?I think they messed this call up bad
I think the difference is the scoring play. You can't fumble the ball forward. But, we will see later in the week.I bet next year we will be able to review this illegal play. Weird that this hasn't happened in the past.can't review penalties called or not called
It WORKED!!! :whew:this has all the makings of 24-23 NE![]()
Just because they missed a flag, doesn't make it a great play. If Pitt or NE land on that fumble with no punch, the clock runs out since no way NE gets set to snap another play. If they trhow the flag, NE gets yardage and another play. Troy had no idea he was going to get away with it so the act itself was stupid and basically the only way NE could get another play at that point. No NE lineman was picking it up for a TD and no way do they get another snap.Granted if it was called a penalty, NE almost never scores with the extra play but calling something great that could have the extended the game is wrong, Troy did the only thing that could hurt them.he did it. and he's going to get away with it.it makes it a great play. legal or not.You can't do that.what a great play by polamalu
They didn't have possession of the ball though. If they had possession before the endzone and then fumbled out of the back of the endzone it would be a touchback.Pittsburgh touched the ball last, it would be Patriots ball on the 20What else would it be? If the ball goes out of the back of the endzone it's a safety.HUH? He's not in bounds, so its a safety?I think they messed this call up bad
They didnt have possession, they didn't fumble. The fumble went backwards (NE had possession and fumbled), which is legal.I think the difference is the scoring play. You can't fumble the ball forward. But, we will see later in the week.I bet next year we will be able to review this illegal play. Weird that this hasn't happened in the past.can't review penalties called or not called
No change of possession though.Pittsburgh touched the ball last, it would be Patriots ball on the 20What else would it be? If the ball goes out of the back of the endzone it's a safety.HUH? He's not in bounds, so its a safety?I think they messed this call up bad
After week 1, Im certainly not overly confident (plus Woodleys injury), but theyve looked like #### the last 2 weeks while we seem to be improving every week, so I like our chancesWhat an awesome game plan by the Steelers. I thought sure the Pats were going to smoke them.Tomlin and LeBeau deserve great credit. Now if we can just beat the Ravens next week, we're in the drivers' seat for Home field.
Not true on all penalties. Pass Interference can be picked up if replay shows the pass was deflected.I bet next year we will be able to review this illegal play. Weird that this hasn't happened in the past.can't review penalties called or not called
Even if they touched it last? I admit I don't know those rules very well.Cant be a touchback, the Steelers NEVER had possession.
I'm about 90% sure that it should have been a 10 yard penalty from the spot that he swatted the ball. Here's what I want to know: Troy Polamalu's swatting the ball back toward the endzone was illegal. But what is the proper result of the play?
It was New Englands ball and possesion, had it gone out of bounds on the sideline they would have kept the ball. The Steelers didnt advance... and its totally legal for a defending (i.e. team doesnt have possession) player to bat a ball, in any direction he wants. Two things:1. congrats steelers2. troy illegally advanced the ball. no one possessed the ball before it went out of bounds. possession arrow new england.notwithstanding item 2, the steelers won the game. good for them.
Ike came back in, pretty sure he's fineSteelers dominated the game. Would have been a shame to lose. Hopefully the injuries to Woodley and Ike aren't serious. If so, it's gonna be a long week against Baltimore. Dare I say, AFC North best division in football?
Touching doesn't matter, possession does. It was New Englands ball until the Steelers acquired full possession.Even if they touched it last? I admit I don't know those rules very well.Cant be a touchback, the Steelers NEVER had possession.
No it isnt. A defender can swat/bat the ball however he chooses. Here's what I want to know: Troy Polamalu's swatting the ball back toward the endzone was illegal. But what is the proper result of the play?
