Game Thread Week 10 - Thursday Night Football (1 Viewer)

Why is Collinswoth making such a big deal about Hillis? The guy is rushing for 8-24, 3.0 YPC. Not horrible, but not all that good. The DEN RBs typically go 4.5+ YPC.
If Collinsworth was posting on FBGs rather than yapping on the TV I think Joe B would have given him a timeout by now. I used to be a huge fan of him, but he went downhill in a hurry.
he did nail the prediction on the "judging by how that defense was" they should go right back to Marshall and run that same play again. (after fist isolation was broken up by really bumpy d/almost PI. Next play, same play, 11 yd td to Marshall.

I can't believe how down so many people are on Marshall. He may not be the top WR in fantasy land right now, but he's only had two stinkers out of 8... No WR will score every week but as long as my top guy gets me at least 8 or so TDs in a season, I'm happy. And in weeks that he doesn't score, I'm happy as long as he eclipses 80 yards. Marshall should reach 8 TDs by season's end, probably more, and will end up with over 100 receptions and around 1400 yards. That's not bad - in fact, it's very, very good. He's had some mental lapses of late, sure, but this entire team has been struggling and frustrated - he's not alone in this regard. So, for frustrated owners, my advice is to sell at your own peril... You will most likely regret it.

What a disgusting loss. Absolutely despicable.
Conversely, Denver has been living right all year, between the Hochuli debacle, Gramatica's missed FG (after a highly questionable spot on 3rd down), and now tonight. I know you can say this about a lot of teams, but Denver EASILY could be 2-7.
But they aren't. They are 5-4. Plenty of other teams win close games. I still don't think the win the West...not with that defense...but at least they got a win tonight and stopped some of the bleeding.
Settle down, Ghost. I'm not trying to trash your team. I'm just connecting the dots and observing what has been a fairly fortunate series of events. Read the words before the comma and you'll see I said that a lot of teams are fortunate to win games (Carolina @ SD and Pittsburgh vs. Balt come immediately to mind). And Denver has been hit with a disproportionate number of injuriesI think they actually can win the West, as I see their schedule as slightly easier than the Chargers, and they should get some players back before the difficult final three games. I think we both agree that this is not a strong 5-4 and that the defense must improve for them to win the division.
No, you are fine. The Broncos deserve plenty of the trashing they get, but I just hate when people use that "they should have lost that game or this game" line, especially in regards to the New Orleans game. It is not like they would have lost had Grammatica hit that FG. They still would have had two minutes to go down and win the game. Aside from that, their defense sucks, and really, if they get to 8-8 this season, with that defense and all of the injuries they have had, I would consider the season a success.
The reason I mentioned the New Orleans game is I thought the Saints got the first down prior to the FG, in which case they could have eaten the rest of the clock prior to the FG (I think the Broncos had used all three timeouts). You don't need to apologize for any win in the NFL. There are no bonuses for style. However, as we look at teams heading into the second half of the season, it's true that all teams with the same record are not equal; some due to tough losses or close wins, others due to a brutal schedule, etc.
On the flipside, there have been a few questionable calls against Denver that impacted their shots at winning games. Most notably, a phantom PI call in the waining minutes of the Jax game and the PI call against Marshall last week on a play that would have put them ahead... It's been discussed ad nauseam but I think most agree that while it was PI technically, it was a penalty that is very rarely called.

 When the season is all said and done, barring an injury to himself or Cutler, Marshall will be one of the top fantasy WRs (despite missing week 1, too).

Did it look to anyone else like the official was trying to get into the TD huddle and see what Marshall had? Almost like he was going out of his way to see if there was any possible way he could throw a flag.
Yes, I saw that also. Stokley wouldn't allow it.Edited to add that 5-6 broncos surrounded Marshall so the referree could not see what was going on.
Thank God for Stokely though. If he hadn't been there that second...the glove was going on and the penalty flag would've been thrown.I'm sure stokely told him, "WE CAN'T AFFORD THE PENALTY RIGHT NOW...PUT IT AWAY FOR ANOTHER DAY...DO NOT GIVE THIS TEAM BETTER FIELD POSITION!"

Forgot about the game being tonight and as such Cutler is on my bench. :X /I know you are all breathlessly waiting for more updates about my team//too early for the venting thread
wait... why do you bench a top 5 qb vs CLE?
When your backup (Warner) is also a top 5 QB vs. STL (last week).Edit to add: the deciding factor to play Cutler would have been that my opponent has Royal. I do usually go with ye olde cancellation theory when possible... and in this case it would have paid off. As it stands I am a moron for not remembering the Thursday night game.
