Garcon going forward (1 Viewer)

Wanted to hear people's thoughts on Pierre Garcon from here on out, assuming Painter is the QB.

It certainly appeared last week that Painter was looking for Garcon frequently.

Tonight - I don't have target numbers, but I know of at least 3 - Garcon has 2 catches for a whole lotta yards and 2 TDs. On one hand, you have to respect the numbers, on the other hand, 2 catches (albeit through 3 quarters) isn't an eye popping number.

So what do you think? Anything to see here, or just a big night that isn't likely to happen again?

I'm still on the fence. The Indy offense isn't exactly confidence inspiring.

2 busted plays, doubt you will have consistency. How often will he have 150 out of 250 yds passing by Painter with Wayne opposite him and Clark in the middl of the field?

Fluke tonight. 2 for 140+ and 2TD? Don't get used to that stat line.

Garçon is a boom or bust guy. Questionable hands. Painter is not this good. Fine WR3/flex but probably nothing more.

garcon has bad hands yeah. but painter and garcon have been practicing together for a while now. you gotta respect the numbers at this point and play garcon.

I think I am most impressed with the accent on the c in Garcon. Great attention to detail.

Garçon

ETA: I just figured out how to get that character on my phone.

it's hard to argue with this. And while Painter's apparent high targets to Garcon are definitely the X-factor that causes us to give second thought to this theory of Garcon-as-consistent-starter; in the middle of that second thought we ask ourselves, "We're making decisions based on who Curtis Painter's favorite WR is? Really? Curtis Painter?"

It's fantasy football, Doug.

if the OL get get somewhat healthy and Painter gets more reps with the starters in a few weeks i think he can be a respectable QB. most of the in-completions have come on blitz where painter has been planted. alittle more protection and more time for Painter to work on his hot reads and he could definitively be a playable QB2 against non-elite defenses. u gotta think, exactly how many reps with the first team ever has he ever gotten till this week?

Fixed. Despite tonight's poor stat line, I actually think Wayne's outlook has improved. Garcon was a matchup play when Manning was quarterback so I don't think it makes sense to get excited about him. He's rosterable now instead of someone sitting on the waivers but other than that I don't think he'll be consistent enough.

You guys always give crappy info... another WR I could've nabbed, now I'm stuck with David Nelson at WR3
Yea. We all have crystal balls. It's your team. Make your own decision. No one said he wasn't worth rostering. He was a better guy to own than Nelson last week.

I would be selling high but I'm sure others feel much differently. he has 7 receptions for 275 yds and 4 TD in 2 weeks...every other catch is a touchdown, is that sustainable? if Wayne had really oct a step then defenses will alter their coverage. He was a ghost in the 2nd half, his points come in spurts IMO.

Again, I understand why other may feel differently.

He's got 10 TDs in his last 11 games, and just looks insanely powerful/explosive.

If Manning comes back you have to worry that the offense's 3rd and 4th options steal targets again - but at this point it should seem clear that Garcon is a guy that can make things happen for himself instead of feasting on space created by a HOF QB and the other talented pass catchers around him (a la Collie).

Well, I'll at least admit that Garcon is probably the best bye-week sub there is right now at WR. And if you have a Mike Williams or Brandon Lloyd (who will now be stuck with the *highly* limited Tebow), then Garcon will probably be in your lineup until the others prove he shouldnt.

He's a damned good athlete? IF he can catch the ball, the rest will take care of itself? I love how last week was chalked up to "awful tackling". Lightning just struck 2x?

Garcon has made some of the most incredible catches I've ever seen for a guy with terrible hands.
Last year he had some horrible drops. You could see how frustrated Peyton got at times. Maybe he improved over the offseason. But it was well known he had bad hands last year.

Traded him in dynasty for the 1st pick in 2nd round and took Cobb.

Until these last 2 weeks, looked like a brilliant move. Now...

By these standards, Roddy White and J. Finley also have bad hands.

Garcon is a quality WR with good hands who lacks concentration at times.
