Garrard Signs Extension (1 Viewer)

I think it was definitely worth it for the Jaguars. I think he's going to be a huge value come draft day. His yardage was consistent last season.

Gonna be funny to see what is said when Tarvaris Jackson puts up numbers this year that are similar to what Garrard did last year.

If it's only $9mm with $20mm guaranteed (according to the article link above), that's an absolutely palatable contract for the team's franchise QB. Garrard isn't (at least yet) an elite QB; and I don't expect he ever will be. But that doesn't mean he's not an important cog in the Jags machine; and if they keep him happy and healthy they SHOULD be in a position to compete for a deep playoff run. Looking around at what any QB is earning on a playoff-caliber team, Garrard is "fairly" paid.

Garrard earned his contract extension, and if I were a Jaguar fan I'd be happy to have him committed to the team for the next several years.

If TJax can make strides in reading defenses, I could definitely see him performing comparably. He should have every chance with their running game, oline, and speed on the outside. However, I would be shocked if he only threw 3 picks the whole year.

That's definitely true. I'd forgotten how low his INT total was last year. But by the same token, I'd be shocked if Garrard only throws three picks this coming season.

Good for Garrard. Very happy for him. He's humble, hard-working, rock-solid, and a heckuva player. And he's the kindof QB I can see hoisting a Lombardi one day. Best of all. With that kindof loot, he can buy a TON of fresh, new fedoras. That's one dapper dude.

Agreed.

I'd be shocked if any QB throws only 3 picks this coming season.

Garrard seems like a really nice and humble person. It's good to see hard working players like him make it to the top. Good move by the Jaguar organization.

What are your thoughts? Worth the coin?

IMO after the way he performed the Jags didn't really have a choice and I don't blame them for ponying up. He is a solid leader who has play making ability and should lead that team for some time. Sometimes you have to overpay.
Good signing by the Jags, worth the coin. He's an average fantasy QB but an above average REAL player.I think he can also get better as he's still learning the game. He's probably not as good as he was in that stretch where he hardly through an interception but that does show you the kind of QB he can be.

He doesn't make a lot of mistakes, plays within his limits and doesn't put his defense in a lot of bad situations.

I think he's an above average fantasy QB. He started slow under his new OC at the beginning of last season and suffered an injury that cost him some games, but after returning from his injury he was averaging something like 22 ftp per game. Id say thats better than average
