..... 6'4" 223... starting.... no projections yet, but is he a viable play this week?... His size is beastly for a FS/SS.. THX for your input.

Starting at FS now that collins is gone.... not too high on him tho considering atari bigby beat him out for the job... although bigby has been playing very well aside from stupid penalties... def has the physical gifts and ability.. just not sure he was ready to start in the NFL... missing assignments.. blah blah.

On the flip side though the packers are very high on him... the fact that he is such a beast for his position and his abilities they were def getting him ready to jump and start eventually.

He's worth a shot, imo. Collins has been very blah in the position. I think Rouse will be able to take this job for good. So, if you pick him up it may pay off as he will be looking to make something happen.

Rouse is very raw and the Vikings won't complete many passes. When AD runs the ball the defensive line, Nick Barnett and AJ Hawk will get the tackles. Could Aaron Rouse have a big game and/or be a waiver wire find the rest of the year? Sure, but there are proabably better bets available to you.

I thought the same thing but Norton projects Bigby as DB 3 this week. Not sure why.

Bigby is great in run support...that's his bread and butter. I'm guessing Norton thinks, and I agree, that he'll get alot of opportunities to tackle Peterson.

Rouse has great size and speed. The area he lacks in is football instincts. Word from the packers is that he definately puts in the extra time in the film room and that is one reason they are very high on him. I feel he is just too raw to make an impact this year as he needs to develop. However he has looked good at times throughout practice.

My considerations w/ regards to Rouse is that... Bigby DB3 (who I already have and will start) because Minn will run run run run... and since it IS Peterson, Bigby will at least have the CHANCE to make plays on him as opposed to the linebackers (who will be clutching at air)... My question w/ Rouse then is... Won't HE get the same amount of opportunities as Bigby?.... He will most likely be the last Packer between Peterson and the end zone after Bigby misses as well...

As between Bigby and Rouse, who is more likely to fill the traditional run-supporting (and maybe blitzing) SS role in that defense? I honestly don't know because both players' games resemble a SS's more than a FS's.

The Packers don't utilize their safeties to blitz much, but when they do it's almost always Atari Bigby. During today's game the Packers seemed to get pressure with just their front four. Bigby tends to play near the line of scrimmage more as the SS but with his experience I would expect him to play off the line a bit more with a rookie at FS. However, today's game didn't give much insight.
