Georgia: the Battle for the Senate (2 Viewers)

Perdue conceded today.  I assume Loeffler conceded earlier this week.  So, GA ought to be able to certify these results quickly, and then Ossoff and Warnock can be sworn in as Senators.
Each county has until next Friday to certify, so it may be a while.
Not sure how it works procedurally ... but at this point, Ossoff and Warnock are unopposed candidates. As such, I wonder if they can be sworn in before the state certifies the results?

From what I've found, new members are supposed to present their certification before being sworn in. I doubt Mitch would be willing to bend the rules for a couple of Democrats.

In theory, this could be dragged out to the 23rd (or longer if there's a recount), but the GA SOS said in a recent interview that he would sign off on the paperwork as soon as possible.

Hillary Clinton tweet

”Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell”
She's literally the only person on Earth that shouldn't tweet this.  She lost to Donald Trump.
Why do people still keep looking at her tweets?  I know I could care less about any Clinton and would rather no one acknowledge their existences again.

This is not directed at you per se RW, but I it feels that the average R voter cares more about Hilary than the average D voter.

I didn't post her tweet or look at her tweet.  Fruity pebbles did

I know McConnell is pissed at Trump over Georgia.  Do you think that Trump insisting on the 2K stimulus package cost them the senate.  The vote was real close, and I wonder how many people switched their vote for the additional stimulus checks.

Invest in weed, and green energy.

And get ready for more social divide, and identity politics than ever.
If AOC gets her way then opposition will be completely silenced.  Might as well get ready for that too.  Y'know, prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I don’t think it was mostly stimulus related.  Maybe some ruffled feathers and some last minute changes, but they were negligible. The momentum from the presidential race carried through to the Senate runoff election imo. Stacey Abrams and her crew  never stopped campaigning and I think that was the difference.

It's already happening on twitter
Why do people pay attention to her?  Seriously?  Can you just ignore her?

Or maybe the post earlier is correct?  Does the right need someone or something to hate?  Is that what drives you?

Do the US a solid and ignore AOC like the rest of us.

What if they said the same about Hitler?  Now, I'm not saying she's Hitler but you can't ignore the most popular Democrat who the liberal media itself props up, drools over and gives her as much air time and sound bites as humanely possible.  Heck, we have a bunch of posters in here who drool over her and think she's the best thing since sliced bread.

I think my biggest fear with AOC, specifically, is not so much her RIGHT NOW but how the far-left contingent of the Democrat Party grows larger and larger with each election.  She's young, good looking and popular and, to be honest, that's all liberals look at or care about (She's like a Michael Bay movie - all style and no substance - but makes a boatload of money anyways).  She might but dumb as a rock, but that's irrelevant.  At some point they'll cease being Democratic and become the Socialist/Marxist/Communist Party instead.

So what that means is that while she may have LITTLE power now, she may be in charge in a few elections.  That would not be good for anyone.  So we need to get rid of her NOW before she becomes too powerful.

She's like Thanos - working behind the scenes until she gets all the rings and then will wipe out the US and transform it into some kind of Socialist/Marxist/Communist Utopia (which doesn't exist).  And, like Thanos, that's going to require a HIGH body count.

Edit:  By "get rid of her NOW" I mean defeat her in an election.  I know there are some people in here who like to twist people's words into something else so I want to make this clear.

They need to demonize someone.  She’s outspoken and progressive, so the Trump supporters have turned her into the poster child for “the left.”

Seems like an overly simplistic view and a smoke screen to divert how dangerous someone like her really is.

See the post above yours to get the real facts.

Also, someone in your position probably shouldn't be pointing fingers about "demonization".  Your side of the aisle has turned it into an art form.

You couldn’t prove my point any better.  Thanks.

You either didn't read my post or you're twisting it into something that fits your narrative.  Which is it?  I vote option #2.

Seems like you're just hell-bent on pushing your narrative regardless.

Thanks for the detailed response. I don’t agree with you but I’m grateful for you sharing.

I like to think of the fringes like ... the fringe of a bell curve. Most of us are in the middle and we need to find a way to work together. Not to look to the fringes to divide us.

It could be terrible but Biden isn’t known for getting things done, is he going to start now? Will be interesting to see as most agendas his party pushes will hurt the economy and limit them to 2 years.

But yeah SELL SELL SELL tomorrow. 😂
@TripItUp

Did you fellas get all your sell orders in on time?

Also worth noting that the turnout was higher than the 2016 presidential election.

She controls 8 votes in the HOR, which is projected to flip Red in 2022. That means her power block could increase to 10-12 votes in the next cycle. Ossoff is a progressive, I don't care what the media narrative becomes, he's a stone cold locked in hard line progressive in real life. That means AOC controls 3 votes in the Senate. She's 31 and can walk into the daily media cycle at will. The DNC choked out the "burn rate" ( projected budgetary needs for daily operations) for the entire original "Squad"  Meaning AOC and her people are bound by contract to kick the campaign money back up to DNC HQ. But unlike the rest of the down the ticket Democrats, it never comes back to them. ( If Hillary Clinton and Debbie Wasserman Schwartz ever go to prison for money laundering, bizarrely the Progressives will be the only block Democratic block down the ticket who won't go to prison as well since they aren't getting the money funneled back to them.  )

That means AOC is lending her platform, with the largest social media following and engagement in all of Congress by a wide margin, and essentially fundraising for all incoming Squad freshmen. And will have to do it every cycle. This is why Pressley, the least visible original Squad member, was paired off with Elizabeth Warren, for fundraising and mentorship and coverage against the Obama/Biden/Harris loyalists and Pelosi/Newsom faction.

If people want to call AOC out of depth with issues like economics and public policy, I won't argue. But she has a hell of a campaign and media team. She's mirrored many of Trump's tactics from 2016 and is not dependent on the DNC for media coverage/engagement. Again, at 31 years of age.

Her economic views are terrifying for anyone who actually understands public policy but the exponential growth of her platform is impressive and didn't happen by luck.

People pay attention because she is completely lethal. She has no idea what she's doing, nor what she's talking about and can say whatever she wants while drawing national attention and no one can stop her. It's the deepest twisted fantasy of any tween who just put down their dogearred copy of Hunger Games.

She's like a jilted typical "Karen" who found the keys to the helicopter from Air Wolf and has missiles to spare.

I just realized Wikkidpissah and I might be the only ones here who have ever seen Air Wolf on network television. I was blessed with TJ Hooker and The Fall Guy. You heathens gladly suffered through dreck like Glee and This Is Us. No wonder your generation is doomed.

You can't ignore someone with missiles to spare and doesn't appear to be rational enough to know not to fire them.

If you want to corral AOC in the future then:

Don't.....nominate.......a..........Trump(er).

Bernie Sanders was not going to beat Trump. Elizabeth Warren was not going to beat Trump.  Only a decent, non abrasive Centrist could beat Trump; because the Center doesn't want to vote for a Trump.  They want a Center Right economic platform and (more and more) a "just don't be a jerk to people" social platform.  Trump gave them the economic platform......but he failed miserably in the social platform.  The Center is banking that A) Biden won't move far from the Center on economics in his first two years (and if he does....they'll certainly vote against his Party in 2022 and B) Biden won't really be a jerk to people. If you're scurred of AOC.....then (say it with me)..

Don't....nominate....a.......Trump(er).

The Center will reward you for that.

What happened to the Walker thread?
Completely deleted?

:lmao:

Must have contained some dangerous content.

I had just posted Maher’s video on Walker - as has been his position of late he blamed the Walker candidacy on the DNC and GOP. I agreed to an extent but as I mentioned, there’s a new segment of the GOP that is making the Walkers and Trumps the nominee - they like what they are getting in these candidates and then due to our 2-party system people feel obligated to vote for them. I argued with Tim like 6-8 years ago that our 2-party system sucks but he assured me I was wrong and it’s fantastic. I attribute a good deal of what is happening with worse and worse candidates to the 2-party system (and no RCV, term limits among some other things).

It has to be wrong, it got us Biden and Trump.

My favorite thing about Warmock is if he were a republican, the left would bring up religion nonstop. Maybe they found religion?
Really. The current democratic president goes to church regularly. How often did the former president attended church? He is currently a Senator didn't seem to be an issue with the left before.

If a preacher was running R, it wouldn’t be used against him?

We've never had an openly non-religious President. Nobody seems to talk about this or fixate on it. Additionally, Warmock hasn't (as far as I know) expressed a desire to have the US governed via biblical law rather than the US Constitution.......so.....not sure what the issue is.

Maybe? Looks like there are several members of the house that are clergy. And Senator Lankford from OK is or was an ordained minister. Was that used against him in his election? I honestly don't know.

I think one also needs to look at the campaign that the person runs. Warnock does indeed remind folks that he is a pastor, but he also doesn't come across as preachy in his tone or subject matter.

I replied to your post in the other thread where I also disagreed with Maher's take. I don't think Republicans are choosing morally bankrupt candidates to troll Democrats. They're just willing to hold their noses because the alternative is so bad to them.
