Gerrymandered (1 Viewer)

I thought the Dems pulled of some good Gerrymandering in Maryland and NC too?
Don't know about Maryland, but in NC, it's about a 50/50 split demographics wise and the Dems hold only 3-4 of the thirteen seats.

Guys....Neither party is remotely interested in "redistricting fairly"
This is not correct. I think you missed an earlier thread where this subject was discussed at some length. Dems have a long way to go on election reform but the GOP thinks that election reform equals a "power grab." Both sides are not equivalent and once again you are giving your impressionable admirers inaccurate information.

It is correct.  The Republicans are not the only ones that have or would gerrymander.

I’m curious if you’ve checked polls where party affiliation doesn’t matter and what Americans want done, what’s important to them, and what they see the future of America. Spoiler alert but the majority by a long shot want more Progressive standards. If Republicans didn’t scare voters or keep our government stalled during the Obama years, America would be much better off today.
If your contention is to not change anything because “both sides,” well, America is much more Progressive than not.
I disagree but I appreciate your thoughts.

Democrats will gerrymander.  Thinking they wont is just silly.  Silly.

That wasn't his point. His point was that Republicans seem to see a chance to gerrymander more often than Democrats, especially under the guise of election reform. Both sides have been and are currently guilty of it, I don't believe that's being debated here.

Ok good.  We agree

Its absolutely positively not undemocratic.  It;'s allowed under our system of laws.  I just see this as whining. The dems can't hold power, then whine about how the republicans use the laws to their advantage more than the democrats.  Win more.
Perfect summation of the lack of integrity from the right.

I didn't say you specifically did I big guy?   I'm very very sorry if I hurt your feelings
Why would you assume I care to better the lefts position?

Look - for some of us this shouldn’t be a game to get/keep power. That’s what’s wrong with the system. Carving up voting districts to hold onto power shouldn’t be rewarded or brushed aside as just one side playing the game better. The game shouldn’t be played like that.

I didn't assume you did.  I don't know you...so I wouldn't have any idea what your motivations are.

And it's sweet that people want all things to be sweet and nice...but it just isn't how politics work.

I don’t want all things to be nice and sweet. I do have a problem with gerrymandering.

Do you believe this practice is a beneficial one in our political system?

But you cant just wish for things to be better.  And while you do, people will take advantage of you.  Over and over again.

And I do not feel it is.
