Reason's:
1) Speed- Ran a 4.34 40-yard dash at the combine (he's got great speed)
2) Size- he's 5 foot 11 inches and 211 lbs.
3) Tested vs major competition- Ran in the ACC at Maryland and produced.
4) Catches the ball well out of the backfield.
5) Opportunity- Jacobs leaving/Bradshaw's health (screws in foot??).
Why wouldn't ya?
ACC? this isn't basketball. He's not big in the Giants world at all. I'm not even sure they'd consider him to have "great speed." Very good, sure but he's not CJ.
NFL athletes get more screws in more bones than people ever let on to. I'm not sure how serious it is anymore. Jacobs probably never leaves. I mean he's accepted a backup role just fine and is still a beast for a tough one yard gain. It'd be a money thing if he were to leave.
The Giants have had a stacked backfield for more than 10 years now. Every time they sign a new RB, there's a thread here how he'll be the latest and greatest.
Wasn't it Peerman last year?
Like I said in that other thread, Andre Brown was shocking this summer. Some doctor performed a miracle with him. He was so similar to the back pre-injury than the one a few teams cut, they kept him on their PS in what has to be a curious move. There's tons of threads here on his talent and ability before the injury. Who knows now.
I would never guess the Giants part ways with Bradshaw and Jacobs this offseason. At best, Scott beats out whomever they bring in(they always do) plus Ware, Brown, and Jacobs to be their top backup next year.
We resurrected Taiwan Jones threads after McFadden got hurt and Bush lit it up. He's a fast guy, why not jump on that bandwagon?
I mean didn't Jacobs miss a game this year? Ya got Bradshaw down, Jacobs missed, and still he's only got three carries.
It's all well and good to wait for opportunity, we all do, in FF but if the opportunity should be here and Da'Rel's number is not called then it's not. We did this. It had juice a few weeks ago, but he hasn't gotten the call from Gilbride. IMO Ya gotta move on here.
