And the installers dropped the old bay window into the house onto our hardwood floors which catapulted glass about 10 feet. Their was a couch hit by the glass, we called the salesman and he came out and him and the installers spent about an hour vacuuming it up and then took the covers off the cushions to be dry cleaned.

If they did something egregiously negligent, but not if it was a simple accident.

I started to begin to negotiate with the salesman for some money off but the wife told me to chill when the sales guy jumped in and started cleaning.   He is decent looking so maybe she's got her own idea of fair compensation...

The floors are fine and the couch frame is good.  So I'm cool with him getting the cushions cleaned with the caveat that if we see or feel any glass in the future they'll get us a new couch.  At least in this day and age you can use reviews as leverage.

Mistakes happen. But barring any mechanical failure, if any, I'm surprised people who supposedly do this for a living would drop the largest window in the home. That's a lot of weight and a lot of glass. You'd think they'd go over strategy and get their ducks in a row beforehand. 

I'd to hear the exact chain of events if the OP witnessed it.
