GIANTS VS. JETS or COLTS IN THE SUPER BOWL? (1 Viewer)

Yea..Yea it's only week three, and is it way too early to suggest a possible New York frenzy ending to the season? Injuries can certainly be apart of the situations, on any team. BUT..both the Giants and Jets have proved themselves early and often.

Remember all of the trade and money that the Jets have spent over the past couple of years, bringing in talent, not named..Favre? The Jets were not a bad team.. last year, and look even better in 2009. Favre could be the main reason that the Jets didn't go further ..last year as he played..horribly at the end and cost the Jets.

The Giants have the playoff experience, and the G-men look like Super Bowl contenders...solid, balanced..and Neither team seems to be afraid of teams like the Patriots or Cowboys. But then.. Payton Manning of the COLTS..says " just a minute my..friend", and then we have to take under consideration..the question, are the Colts better than the Jets with Payton on the last drive of the game? Does it come finally come down to Manning vs. Manning ? The media..would eat this Manning vs. Manning up in a Super Bowl minute. l have a feeling we might hear from some Champion Steelers fans too, and the " under the radar" Ravens are strong at 2-0. Any thoughts Fantasy owners?

People were calling for this last year too, until the Jets' collapse to finish up their year.Alot of that had to do with Farve, but let's hold off on Super Bowl matchups after just two weeks.

I'm not buying a rookie QB in the Super Bowl. Big Ben couldn't do it after a great regular season. Flacco and Matt Ryan couldn't do it after good seasons last year.

I still have a lot of questions about the Colts, their line, their ability to run the ball consistently and their defense.

The Giants are a good team, but I still think the Eagles are going to be at the big game in January (or Feb, whenever it is).

Jets need much more offense to be Super-Bowl bound.

And Eli always looks good in September - I'd rate New Orleans, Minnesota and Philly as better chances.

You are absolutely right about the media feeding frenzy if there were a Manning-Manning Super Bowl. That might make me not watch the game for the first time ever.

Excuse me? You can question my football opinions (actually, you probably should) but how can you judge my thorough Manning family revulsion??

It could be the Patriots playing the Red Sox, and I'd still watch. Unless you have some awesome picnic to attend or something...hatred for the Mannings or not...I can't see you passing up SB Sunday.

Put a confetti cannon to my head and as of today I'll pick a Ravens // Vikings super bowl. Purple all day.

Right now the best 2 looking football teams in the NFL are NO and Balt. Hands down IMO. The Giants and Jets would be in the group bellow along with the Colts and Falcons.

It's not to early to suggest. It's too early to be taken seriously. There isn't a single team that looks close to unbeatable in the playoffs.

Yes I think it may be a tad bit early..........

After watching Brodie Croyle play like a Pro Bowler and Philip Rivers play like a HOFer, I'd be hesitant to be all over Baltimore right now. The Chiefs are in the KC-STL-DET tier of awfulness; the Chargers so far barely beat Oakland (who barely beat KC), and almost beat Baltimore. Ravens offense looks great, though. So if you believe the pass D will be better, I can see backing Baltimore. But as of right now, Baltimore doesn't look that great to me. And they certainly haven't been as impressive as the Jets (destroying Houston, handling the Pats). Jets have looked above average in all four facets of the game so far (pass O, rush O, pass D, rush D). Of those, only the pass O is likely to fall below average. The Giants run O and run D have also been very shaky so far this year.

I look at it this way. If Balt lined up and played NYJ, I'd expect them to win regardless of where the game was played. You don't have to agree, but that's my opinion.

I understand. I may be splitting hairs, but that's a different statement than who the two best looking teams are now.

Looks like EVERY team has a positive and negative side to them. The fact is most..of the finesse passing type teams are just getting their motor's going in week two {Bengals- Texans etc..} and the BETTER defensive teams were..ahead..in week one but things again..will change..as the weeks come. New Orleans hasn't had a great defense, but they BLOW people away. Much can be said for Drew Brees leadership he is truly amazing.

Wouldn't the most BALANCED.. team, on offense and defense with good special teams, have the INSIDE track right now?

I really think that the expectations of the Patriots is US.. living in the past, as their defense is VERY suspect, it's average at best..and it may NOT improve, no way Brady is able to bring them back, week after week..they could be in trouble. The Patriots losing Pelosi the best player personnel guy in the NFL to the Chiefs is..showing..

So how bout the Philadelphia Eagles winning BIG..with a back up quarterback? What teams have the ability to do that? The Eagles defense is at the top of the stats..also. I guess the question comes to a great Coach and Quarterback, Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb who have made MORE playoffs in the past few years than I think any team in the NFL..but have never won the big one..The question remains: "are you..tired of being the ..bridesmaid?

Yah I'm not buying the Jets (at least not this year) and the Colts are kind of a lol SB pick at this point imo. Giants are just as likely as anyone else from the NFC to make it.

Did someone just say SAN FRANCISCO?

"Playoffs..who's talking about..PLAYOFFS?!!"-Mora's line back when he was Coaching the Saints

They are playing well and Gore has been a..MONSTER, and if their defense holds up....But then again as an example of change in the NFL, Tennessee had the BEST record last year at 13-3 and are currently 0-2, but that won't last..Jeff Fischer is a smart coach, and he will make the adjustments. He has already ripped his defense coach, this week. Good luck to the 49er's.

Colts need to play better defense. I think they will by midseason (Ed Johnson will get in better football shape - Sanders will be back - the D will be used to the new D coordinator by then - hopefully Tim Jennings will never start again at CB). Unfortunately, most people didn't see that the Colts played good D in week 1 - everyone saw the disaster of week 2.

On the positive - the OL looks better than people thought after the Vikings pre-season game - and I think the running game will be OK.

Wow. Lots of opinions here. So far there are a few teams that look like SB caliber teams, but....

In the AFC: The Jets will make the playoffs, and as a fan I hope will go far. Sanchez is a rookie and will have some issues along the way. If he irons out the bugs before the playoffs, the Jets could be there. The Ravens look good, but that defense is not longer the best in football. In fact, the Jets could make an argument that theirs is. The Pats, much to my dismay, will have a say in this before it's all said and done. I think the Titans are a good team and will battle it out with the Colts for that division. The Chargers should win the west going away, but I don't think they are SB contenders at all. And of course the Steelers will be there as well. Of these teams, RIGHT NOW I like the Jets...but I'm biased! :coffee:

In the NFC: I liked the Pack going into the season, and I still do. This past week's loss should light a fire in them. Minnesota I don't have a clue about yet. The defense isn't playing as good as I thought they would, and I don't believe in Favre anymore even though he's my favorite player ever. The Eagles, Giants, and 'Boys will have one heckuva battle in the East, and I only see 2 of them getting in. I like Atlanta in the South, but N.O. is making me a believer. We'll see what happens when they play a good pass defending team (like the Jets for example, as somebody mentioned, wrongly, that N.O. will trash their secondary...doubtful). After the Packers, I think Atlanta would be my next pick for the SB. The Eagles can't stay healthy, I don't believe the Giants are as complete of a team as some others, and Dallas...is Dallas. They'll choke. I like Seattle or the 9ers in the West, but neither can hang with the winners of the other divisions.

Looking forward to the Saints droppin' 30-something on the Jets.
That should be an interesing early season matchup, but I have a feeling you will be right on that.Revis shutting down Colston doesn't have quite the same devastating affect on their passing offense that taking away Moss (with no Welker) or Andre Johnson has on their respective teams. Brees is the type of QB that can make a defense pay when they blitz you.I do think the Jets offense can fair well against their defense that allowed Stafford and Kolb to have decnt days against them though.

At this point it's just refreshing to hear someone, anyone, not a Jets fan even mentioning the possibility.

In the Expectations Thread my only wish was for the Jets to figure out if Sanchez was a legit NFL Qb and for the Defense to begin to jell so, things might set up for next year... So far so good.

Some experts predicted the Jets could start off 0-5 with this schedule and I had my own worries based on the obvious - rookie HC, rookie QB and new defense.

Expectations change - I'll say I hope for the playoffs, not expect...

The way I look at the NFL is diferent than many fans and experts - I look at it as a War of Attrition. It's long season and a team like the Jets lacks depth - They can lose 1 or 2 guys that can make this team look like Night Vs Day - Sure many teams can say that - But, that's the NFL.

Suddenly, the Schedule doesn't worry me as it did at the start.... Yes, I'd say the New Orleans game, the Pats game, ATL, and the Indy game seem like tough matchups but, every other game they just might be favored in at this point.

After having seen the Jets, as a Texans fan, I would not be surprised in the least to see them in the Super Bowl.

I think it's entirely too early to start making predictions, but it wouldn't surprise me.
