The USC DL could be tempting, and a trade may happen in the actual draft, but I'd be worried about counting on Mettenberger as the franchise QB. I think taking Mariota is what I'd do. There have been something like 5-6 X since merger where QBs go 1-2 in the first round, most recently of course in 2012, with Luck and RG3. The NFL Network or ESPN recently noted how the second pick generally hadn't fared as well (with Peyton Manning becoming a future Hall of Famer and Leaf imploding, suffering in the comparison most spectacularly)?

Agreed, hard to see Williams getting past 1.3 if it breaks this way. If TEN had taken Williams, Fowler seems to be the obligatory, de rigueur JAX pick. Now he goes somewhere else. In the actual draft, an unexpected pick can end up toppling multiple dominoes down alternate pathways (parallel universes).

Good picks, I would have made the same in this scenario. Cooper eliciting a lot of comparisons to Harrison (though an inch taller and 25-30 lbs. bigger?) and Reggie Wayne. I've also heard a bigger, stronger Isaac Bruce, high praise. I'd be more excited if he falls to the Rams than White.

IF it had gone Williams at 1.2, Fowler at 1.3 and Mariota at 1.5 (WAS or a team trading up for him), the same five players would be off the board, just in a different order. It will be interesting to see in the actual draft if Mariota makes it to the Jets, and if so, is he drafted by them or another team in that spot?

CHI up, a spot where I see more variance and splitting over defense or offense at this spot. Like a lot of teams near the bottom, multiple holes, you could make a strong case for going in either of several directions. Fox one of a few new HCs in the top 10 picks that will be wanting to immediately put his stamp on a new team, and remake it in his image.

Outstanding pick, maybe scratch for defense, but I see pass rushers there, too, and White (or Cooper, depending on which WR OAK passes on) is seen there a lot. Once again, the pick made is the one I would have made. One of the things most impressive to me about Shelton, besides his obvious size, power and agility/athleticism for a 350 lb. behemoth, is his conditioning. Freaky that he can be a three down defender and take so many snaps?Good job to everybody so far (especially given teams are being picked up on the fly, but I expected as much from the SP, you aren't disappointing), almost to the quarter pole of the first round. I know he flunked his drug test but he is exactly what ATL is missing coming off the edge.

The kid has #1 overall talent.

Yeah, couple other possible pass rushers, but they have different issues. Gregory was the highest graded pass rusher here, I think. Just today, they were talking about how the owner Blank has given a mandate to get edgier players if needed to maximize talent. Choir boys aren't necessarily the best football players.

I like how this is breaking for the Rams, my second and third favorite targets avail for the 1.10, have to get one of them.

Great pick, depending on who was there, I liked Cooper, Scherff and White, in that order (Mariota would have been tempting, but not happening, not buying the mocks where he drops to CLE). If all gone, I would ordinarily look to trade down in that spot, but against the rules. So probably LSU G/T Collins there, who I like a lot, for his versatility, power, toughness, maturity, professionalism, smarts, technical development and consistency. I think the Rams may end up with him. In the scenario where White is gone and taking Collins, Gurley would also be EXTREMELY tempting, I'm very intrigued by that fit in a Fisher offense.

Rams need OL, but I think they make some moves before the draft, not assuming they don't. If they are still bereft of starting caliber OL by the draft it could be different, but interior OL can be gotten in rounds 2-3 and beyond, and hard to imagine passing a talent like White, who many scouts have in the top 5 overall.

Scherff just ran a blazing three cone drill at his pro day that would have only been .01 second off the Combine time of WR Conley!!! What a monster. Not as good an OT as All-Pro rookie guard conversion Martin, but eliciting that exact comparison for his potential if similarly kicked inside.

Wallace may end up being a short term answer at WR with his diva attitude and expensive contract. I think Parker's history with Bridgewater will accelerate the learning curve and giving your young QB another weapon in a pass happy league can't hurt, right? Other than a handful of teams like the Seahawks, virtually every team isn't so stacked across the roster that they don't have multiple needs, so we will almost always be able to make a strong case for several competing positional need/approximate BPA intersections. Good pick.

Makes sense, that's the breaks. Not a fan of Freeman or Gray? I know the latter couldn't run at the combine and than had somewhat of an underwhelming pro day. Freeman is a freakish physical specimen, but some thing he is more of an athletic prodigy than natural football player.

Defense is ready to go. Offensive weapons are decent. After seeing the huge difference in #'s when Foles had time to throw and when he didn't, you gotta get that guy some protection up front. I agree I wouldn't mind Flowers if you moved down a little.

We don't need defense with our first 2 picks and we don't need weapons (unless DBG falls in the 2nd). We need a RT and a versatile guard which would be some sort of combination of Collins in the first and a guy like TJ Clemmons in the 2nd.

New Browns OC John DeFlipo uses a move-F tight end in his system. Their aren't any in this draft who could come in and fill that role but DGB as he develops into a #1 WR. But really glad you don't like the pick. Makes me very happy.

Neither New Orleans or Miami took a defensive lineman at #13 or #14 and their are some pass rushers available as well but none of the WRs are in the class of DBG left and he's better than your pick as a WR so I guess that is why you are soo pissed off, lol. Per rules of this flash mock I can't make the #19 selection and its coming up fast. Lots of D-Linemen still on the board plus some solid pass rushers. Browns finished 32nd against the run defensively but also ranked 27th in sacking the QB so lots of options with the #19 to fill a hole with a top talent. Err ofcourse you won't be able to find a 6'6 WR with speed and strength there who can also fill the move-F TE role but we got that covered already. Lol.

I love how you move the yardsticks for yourself. You rationalize that you don't need to take a guy like Ray or Dupree because there will be "viable" d-linemen available later, but it's imperative to take a swing for the fences guy like DHB because there can't possibly be "viable" WRs at #19.

SF - Malcom Brown. ILB is a need, but it's too early and one of Dawson/McKinney/Kendricks/Anthony should be available in round two. If Justin Smith retires, Dorsey/Dockett/Brown could be a good front 3, if he doesn't, even better, he'll have a chance to learn the ropes and keep someone fresh.
