GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (5 Viewers)

I wore a pair of yoga pants to Rite Aid this morning. while walking out of the store these young hoodlums pulled up beside in their car me to call me a ######.

Any Austin GMTNers? Can't recall, but in Austin for the week on business. Trying to decide between Lambert's or Cooper's for dinner tonight.

Peach pizza? I gotta try this.

Also, I'm alone. Nest is empty. The kid flew off to college. Sticking a for sale sign in my dirt this weekend. House shopping in Vegas next week. Any better ideas?

Lots of better places. Take a two month road trip and find where your heart is. Places I would consider: Portland, Seattle, Victoria (Canada), Lake Tahoe, Ashville. Burlington VT

I am. I only stayed here to raise the kid. I love the desert but this town I'm in sucks and the market is pretty strong.
where are you?

retired?

don't know why my favorite neighborhood restaurant being forced to close over massive rent-spike, in spite of it's success has me down... but feels like an ominous glimpse at our own future just existing in this city (NYC) on my current income. and I use the word "existing" very, very loosely. but two young kids and a pretty specific sector in my field has me down and nervous about options.

Another popular dish for us is cubing the pineapple and throwing it in the grill basket with all colors of peppers and onions with a little cajun seasoning and serving with salmon and baked rice.  Makes for a wonderful medley when mixed all together.   :obc:

Wrap all that in a lettuce leaf and top with some tzatziki sauce. It will knock your socks off.

I totally get this, and it sucks and I wish you didn't have to feel that way.  I'm having those same conversations with myself about moving West, but without the kids.  "I need a certain level of income to get by, but anymore is seems the only markets supporting it rip right back most of it just to live there."  It can get disheartening.

This sort thing is good with chicken as the protein and some Caribbean spices too.  My bride and I roll that one out on occasion.

I dunno, but thanks. I'm focused on the sportsbook and hookers ratio. I thought about doing the look around thing, but the budget buys a really nice place Vegas. My brother is going to live there. I'm going to be part time Vegas part time LA. I love a good rainstorm, but I hate living in a constant one. Your suggestions suck for me. If I can't golf in January I'm miserable. I have a retired sis in a beautiful home in Incline Village and couldn't tolerate a winter in Tahoe. I am considering Mexico, north of PV and north of Cabo... but not likely.

totally.

I feel bad every time I hear your situation hasn't changed... really wish one of my people had had something for you. but as you say, nyc or sf isn't going to really help with getting a better bang for your buck.

I'm in a smallish desert town a couple hours from LA and too close to Bakersfield. I'm basically retired, but open to ideas there too.

So, I got an email last night from our CEO, which was sent to all 800+ employees, informing us that one of our founders had passed away yesterday afternoon at the age of 90. She was so instrumental that the building next to mine was named after her. Our Facebook page posted the news, and many members of the community shared a few stories, RIP's, that sort of thing. I work for a pretty large nonprofit that's well known in the area.

I woke up this morning to check the FB post and couldn't find it. When I got in this morning, I learned that her condition had, in fact, been upgraded to alive. She wasn't actually dead yet.

I'm lucky to work for an organization where I can immediately say things like the above, "she's only mostly dead" and "Uh, she says she's not dead....Yes she is! Here's your nine pence" and they not only don't fire me, they appreciate it.

Yeah, I forgot you're a desert guy. I'm anti-desert, so my suggestions suck for you.

Maybe it makes up for the lack of clarity in your writing
