GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (12 Viewers)

Little known fact, the term for a relief pitcher who gets warmed up but doesn't get in the game is called the "dry hump"

Actually actually true

Any or all of my suggestions may bore her to tears, but these are the things I thought were cool about Granada:

1. Las Isletas. Volcanic-issue islands out on the Lake. You're on a boat and pass one small barren island only to find the next has a restaurant on it, only to find the next has a house on it, only to find the next has ####### MONKEYS WHO WILL JUMP ON YOUR BOAT AND EAT TOMATOES OUT OF YOUR HAND WHILE HANGING BY THEIR TAILS.

2. Masaya Volcano

3. The architecture - especially the churches. Unbelievably gorgeous.

4. I didn't do this, but the fishing on Lake Nicaragua is supposed to be some of the best in the world.

5. Fireworks 24/7

Granada:

I love Las Isletas and think it's a must-do.

I'd add going to Laguna de Apoyo to the Masaya Volcano day, which is also a must.  Spend some time at the volcano, half a day enjoying the Laguna, and maybe hit the restaurant in Caterina that overlooks the Laguna as well.  Could also do the Masaya markets if they like local shopping stuff.

I think going up Volcan Mombacho is also worth a half day.  Cloud/rainforest with beautiful forest and views on a mostly inactive volcano.  And getting up there is an adventure in itself.

Depending on how much time they have they could do a day trip to Ometepe or to Leon as well.  I think Leon is not as cool to visit if you're already seeing Granada, as it's somewhat similar, but Ometepe is worth a trip - an island with two volcanoes on it and beautiful scenery.  However, in Leon you can do volcano surfing on Volcan Cerro Negro, so depending upon their sense of adventure, would be fun.

Really just hanging out in Granada is plenty fun for several days, too.  La Calzada is the main street where everyone just sits outside and eats and drinks and watches the world go by in one of the most beautiful colonial cities on earth, but just walking around anywhere in the little city is great.  There are also some cigar, coffee, and chocolate places with tours/demos/tastings if they're into any of that - I could give specifics if they're interested.

I have many, many food and drink recommendations if they'd like them.

Also, our friend Julio still does tours there and elsewhere in Nicaragua, so I could connect them if they'd like.  UH can attest as to Julio, too.  You definitely need a guide for pretty much all of this other than walking around Granada.

San Juan del Sur:

I've only been there once.  It's a little village with some of the best surfing in the world.  If you're a surfer, great.  If not, hang out on the beach I guess.

Thank you so much!   I will pass this on to her.  I'll recommend Julio for sure.  what are the costs associated with him?
